3. Guys ya'll crack me up. I was rolling on the ground the entire time I was reading this thread. This was definitely an interesting way to pass the time until spring training (the second best thing to fall nights under the lights). On a side note I give major props to the Indians for having fun with his team. It's alright to joke and goof off with the team. Keeps things interesting.
 4. I do want to wish a great and successful powerlifting season this year. This is the only sport I know of that truly shows comraderie from every individual on the floor. I've been doing this for a while now and have never seen any altercation between lifters/coaches/parents or anything. Everyone is very helpful and will always be there to lend their best advice. I look forward to seeing many familar faces as we all push our kids to extreme to show them what they are capable of.
 5. I have to agree with alot of others on this. The cops were doing their jobs, hands down, no arguement there. Tempers flare and situations get heated when it comes to any post season event, no matter the sport or age group. I'm a select baseball umpire have seen many situations were a post game handshake is not done for the best interest of the players safety. As far as officiating this season, it was below par in all games, just my opinion. I think there were a lot of penalties that were not called which should have been. Again, as a sports official I do understand that you cannot possibly see everthing that is happening on the playing field but some of this was blatant and happened right in front of the officials.

There will always be those who are the coaches "favorites", which I guess is what you are trying to imply, but I have never seen any unfair treatment when it came to breaking the rules. I can say this because I was considered one of his "favorites"  and on two, there are many more, I had punishment for breaking the rules. The first was being late to practice, I had an extreme ankle injury my junior year that required me to get a lengthy and complicated tape job. I was late to practice and had to roll for it like everyone did/would have if they were late to practice. The other time was for explicit language, scout D was not performing well and in turn I got yelled at (I was an O-lineman), I used some words I shouldn't have and enden having 200 yards of air raids after that practice. Believe me the punishments were fair and just to each and every player. Need I say more?
I completely understand where you are coming from and can respect that.  I will say it one more time though: There were 5 or 6 players that were dipping skoal (and were in the same room with the coaches) cursing, and breaking countless other "rules" that everyone else would get swatted for by one of the coaches.  I'm not saying it was all Coach Mathews though.  There were a couple of other coaches that let those certain players not have to do the same things everyone else was doing.  I truly, truly do see where you are coming from though because everyone on that class of '01 team was equal, got the same punishments AND kudos from coaches, and had mutual respect for every one of their brothers on that team.  It was a true team, a family.  On the other hand, class of '04 on the other hand was a far cry from that team, and it was because of the division in that locker room.
I'll quit badgering you then cause I volunteer my time as the soccer strength coach and myself, at times though they are rare,  being more lenient towards others. Though I try not to, I try to be as unbiased as I possibly can.
Then I give you kudos.  I simply wanted to give my thoughts on why my senior year playing football (along with several others) was under-cutted by a handful of players that were given special treatment.  Thanks for hearing me out.  I haven't really had an opportunity to talk about it with anyone since the immediate end of that season.
I was letting my friendship with him, though it hasn't or will not change, get in the way. Then I realized that I myself am a victim to these same coaching short-comings. We are all human and try to do the best we can.

 9. I've been around him for six years now, I think that qualifies me to say I know the real coach, and have never seen him act that way. I won't stand to let you tarnish his name with that garbage.
 10. I just couldn't resist. First off let me state that I have the utmost respect for Coach Mathews. I have played under for four years, still visit him and the coaches regularly and we workout together on occasion. Coach Mathews, unlike what others say, it the mist caring guy I have met. How many of you that go to the games notice that is there is a player down, regardless of who he plays for, that Jeff is the first person out there. Am I the only one. I could go on about him all day but that alone really says something about his character.
 11. Vidor has a couple of kids back. I know Nederland and LCM, as well as Vidor, lost some very good lifters. Can't wait to get back in the weight room after playoffs to start working with the kids again.
If that's the case then that is pretty messed up.
No kIdding. I was planning on being there at 4.
Same here. Heck if they do that i'll sneak in with the team  8)
Shoot, Ill save yall a spot. Leaving here at noon! Nothing like tailgating before some Pirate Football!
Amen to that. I remember when we made the playoffs in 09 we drove up and caught the Tinkle family having there own tail gating thing. Haven't seen that this year yet but hey i'm down. When and where?
You must not be looking in the right spot. We tailgated for the Crosby game, out by the fence towards the practice feild on the south side of the stadium, but didn't tailgate for the Montgomery game. Just look for the loud crowd playing washers in the parking lot.
Any idea on where yall are gonna be at this game?
Nah, we find the "best" spot for our tailgating activites when we get there. That's why we leave so early so we have first dibs at parking. Wish I could tell you more.

 14. I do alot of umpiring with Peevey. Great guy to be around. The Lineman Challenge is what you are talking about, had fun with that. Thank ya'll for ya'lls support while we played, we just tryed to keep the tradition of unyeilding heart and desire alive. I'm very proud to that that tradition is still alive and well in this years team.
 15. This is Collin Strother you are talking to. Yes they were right I was playing hurt, tore some tendons in my ankle my junior year, I went to East Texas Baptist University to play ball in Marshall, TX and messed up my anle again. That's when I decided to hang it up. Scotty Utterback is a redshirt at Lamar, walk-on.
