  1. I will say this, #2 and #12 for West Brook could play for North Shore as starters.

  2. To find the 5A cutoff number, see what Highland Park turns in.

  3. I said this in the West Brook win over United a couple of weeks ago as it has been displayed tonight, whenever the Bruins season ends, it will be due to missed PAT’s...

  6. I don’t want to lose Vidor for Lumberton in 12-5a. Vidor, if you stay, I promise I will call Nederland your rival, and won’t even make fun of you that much for it. [insert sappy 80s break-up song].

  8. I understand the whole transfer thing ppl rag on, but i hate to say it but here it is: if you build it they will come. Just look at New Caney ISD football teams now for example, it wasn't like that just several years ago.

    Splendora Vs. Huffman

I don’t know the answer to that. I’m saying that “on paper”, it looks like HH has the advantage over Splendora (record, common opponents, least points scored in a game, etc.) There are “match up” factors though. If Splendora’s players, style of play, coaching decisions, injuries on HH team, and any other factors that can expose a HH weakness can turn the table it could mean a win for Splendora. If I had a wish it would be for a Splendora win. If I had a $100 to bet on it, I would put my green on Huffman. Basically everything I said DMS. 🤫

  10. Would it really be a "shocker of the year" for the defending district champs to win this game?

  11. All things considered, I thought West Brook showed huge improvement, especially since it was a 55-7 drubbing last season. The Bruins competed, tonight. The defense played pretty well, and even forced a few NS punts. The offense did well, but the best teams will struggle against their defense. Ns is the real deal, and while we didnt get the win, it was a step in the right direction. The 25 points the Bruins scored is the most given up by North Shore this season. Hell, Katy only scored 24 against them. The Bruins will be fine, especially if we go D2. Should we make it all the way to state, again, I believe the outcome may be different. I know it's a loss, but the measuring stick used in this game says the Bruins are doing something right.

  13. Soooo.......I haven't posted in a while..lol. But this topic sparks my interest TREMENDOUSLY. I work with people from all over east and s.e. tx. Many of which played for some of these powerhouses. I just had this conversation with a guy who played rb for Westfield back in the mid to late 2000's when they were a dominant team in Houston before Dekaney opened. I asked this VERY SAME question. He said it was their ATTITUDE. They vowed to not lose at home and to not lose to any Houston schools. He also said that that attitude starts on the middle school level and that the hs coaches frequently visited and passed down the playbook to them BEFORE they got to hs. They were also very committed to lifting weights throughout the offseason. I asked about supplements. He said they didn't take any. I do believe most of the powerhouse teams that can afford it have nutritional coaches on staff and a budget for supplies to give their kids an edge physically. Bigger, faster, and stronger still works. Couple that with a coaching staff that knows what it takes and oh boy.... My assessment: Their kids are bigger, tougher, meaner, more experienced, more determined, more committed, and therefore more confident than ours...... hands down. It's one thing to beat up on undermanned, undersized, and outnumbered ozen and central for all of these years and feel good and satisfied about it. It's a whole 'nother thing to take on the state's best and see where you really stand. It humbles you. I do believe that wb is on the right track though, but are still quite a ways behind as far as everything it takes to be on that level. Hopefully the experience from last year and this year propels them closer. IMHO...😉

  14. Westbrook was in the state final last year just about every team in Texas would take that. One thing you need to add to your list is facilities. North Shore has talent coaching and the facilities to compete year in and year out.

    BC @ Lumberton

On a positive note: rain SHOULD be cleared up by game time. Both teams on a turf field which takes mud and muck out of the equation and I have a nice “blanky” to keep the wind and cold off. Not sure how the BC Fans see this game ending, cuz most are keeping radio silence so they don’t have to take a chance of rebuttal afterwards. Raider fans mostly calling for a close one. I just wish they were playing in Bridge City. Last year they gave away a freakin hog trap instead of the normal “split the pot”. I need one for my deer lease. I heard this year they gave away a mostly complete partially used set of dishes and a gift card to the Dollar General. Maybe next year...

  24. Man I love this point of view. I never really thought of it like that but it makes so much sense, to start at the lower level and that’s where you build the foundation. The kids at North Shore just looked bigger, and it was crazy because I know the kids at Brook work out hard everyday. But the nutrition part makes a lot of sense. great take

  35. That's great to see the district get recognition by the prognosticators. Toughest girls district in SETX imo, from #2 in the state HJ, #13 in the state Silsbee, (per TABC preseason rankings), to a very hard nosed LCM squad coached by a HOF coach. I personally think you can throw Bridge City in that cusp mix as well. They have a very solid x/o coach as well, plus a high energy roster Saw several teams in another thread wanting to scrimmage HJ, shoot, come on down to 22-4a and you can catch them twice a year for a real (improbable) win/(most likely) loss chance, like these teams in this district have to, lol. Hope for a safe, injury free year for all the ladies competing this year.

  38. WB better hope they go D2 again because their kicking game will let them down in a tight contest

  39. Lol, but you’ll admit it doesn’t happen often? Bad choice of words, but I think most get the idea. Vidor’s won/lost record against Ned is dismal. Really a shame it’ll be played in the mud, the blood, and the beer (to quote J. Cash), but both teams have it to do. Should be a good game.

There’s no doubt that the Mecca over the years has not had a problem telling you how great they are!😂 Even though they are 2 and 2 in the last 8 years against the one legged Pirates with the Mecca described Dinosaur Offense. In those 2 losses one was a triple overtime loss and the other loss was by no means a blowout. If you want to know how great they are just ask them they’ll tell you😂 So I say let BHFan bask in his team’s success!
