Let me explain, they have 4 backs that get better every week. I call them the "Wild Bunch" because you never know how they will lineup (so many different personnel groups). No matter who gets the football, you will see moves you have never seen. 3. The defense will Run! Hit! SCOOP! and SCORE! from all angles. Don't be surprised if a cheerleader knocks the hell out of someone, scoops the ball up and runs for a touchdown. 4. We must make the outstanding freshman QB play like a freshman. He will have to endure tremendous punishment for 4 quarters, every possession, and every play. One thousand and one, one thousand and two, one thous "Crash"!!!. Did someone get the license number of that truck? 5. We must have outstanding team pursuit on defense. Don't wait for someone else to make a play. 6. Don't miss your treatment this week. If you take care of your body, it will take care of you on Friday. 7. Special teams must be SPECIAL! The last time Anahuac made this trip to EC everyone viewed the Panthers as the underdog. Many sit on the EC side instead of the visitors side, hoping to get one of the t-shirts being thrown in the stands. After Deon Mayes finished rushing for over 300 yards the traitors tried to give the shirts back. I am told that half of the coaching staff had to undergo counseling because of nightmares; #22 running the stretch play right at them and they could not stop it. Don't underestimate this "PANTHER ATTACK" scheduled for Friday night.

Time for a split. Problem with 6A is that the largest 6A could feasibly be as large as they want. You could have a 7,000 student school competing against 3,000. Huge delta.

If you split 6A there's no need for 7A.

As a parent who has watched a lot of girls basketball over a span of the last ten years, I can understand your stance. Most high school girls basketball is not an easy watch due to the overall skill level on the floor. Even watching most "select" / AAU games is an acquired taste due to the fact that most games are overly physical, hand checking, grabbing "D-up" games where full court pressing is used to generate turnovers, resulting in most of the points being from layups, as opposed to half court generated offense. It is a treat when you get to see games that involve teams running half court sets that feature motion without the ball, and teams that can knock down shots ranging from floaters, to mid-range shots, to 3pt exhibitions. I understand completely that defensive pressure and turnovers are a huge part of the game, I am just speaking to how the physical nature of the girls game is ramped up most times to cover up a lack of skill or to rub out more skilled player(s). You will enjoy this game as it will feature some of the most highly skilled players we have in this area. All of which have worked since a young age at their craft. I know this because my daughter has been fortunate enough to compete (very much uphill I will add, lol) against them in practice and with them at tournaments during AAU seasons and workouts through the years. Good luck to both teams.

I would say Newton and WO-S has as much speed as EC. What about comparing how much points each team scored against HJ and Liberty? HF = 58, Silsbee = 96. But HF beating HJ at home by 1 point with a late TD and two point conversion while Silsbee defeated HJ by 34 on the road, looks pretty ominous. I know it's all about match ups, but just sayin.

Or that Barbay is 1-5 vs. Silsbee while at Jasper. Jasper and Silsbee has had issues before, but kept the rivalry going. And, why stop playing Silsbee in all sports? Allow the other sport coaches to schedule who they want.

Proves my point about 5AD2. Lee. & BH have a whole 4AD2 student advantage over Vidor, and next year Lumberton. It’s not everything, but it sure helps if you’re bigger, or hurts if you’re the smaller school. 6A, even worse. So perhaps we need a 7A. You could almost make a 5AD1&2 out of 5AD2, then split 6, and maybe leave 7A without D1&2? Just thinking outside the box. And the durn UIL won’t listen to a thing I said (unless it helps HP. 😢)

Not including pleasant groves bcz they're the favorite.gilmer,jasper,navarro,waco connally, Midland greenwood,sunnyvale,w.o,and if silsbee defense comes to play.every team does something well that could hurt every team.i was really pleased with some of the games that I have watched.and I mean hours of it.and I have to tell u this. Bcz this is a big IF !! If remember that oline of w.o continues to get better and and if they minimize there fumbles.bcz any team will have a half to beat them.get to 4th qtr. Not even PG would beat them. They're a 4th qtr team that gains momentum. But we can't speak on that at all bcz of the road ahead with matchups with jasper,silsbee, and Navarro in there way. And that want be easy at all.

A better question is: will WH limit Grapeland to less than 40pts?

I don’t think BH will throw much. I’d like to see a statistical breakdown of their completion percentage over ten yards. And they have a huge runningback. Not super fast, but he’ll get his yards. Png can contain a running game. We’ve done it all season. It’s going to be a matter of scoring for PNG and it’s simply not a guarantee like it has been for the last decade or so. So Bh certainly looks like the favorite, and it would be irresponsible to not say so. Png has home field, a good defense, but an offense that sputters. Bh has a complete team, and that can make all the difference.

I started to do this same kind of post but got a headache thinking about it. But here's a shot at it: BH 5-0 PNG 4-1 Ned 4-1 Crosby 3-2 Vidor 2-3 Baytown Lee 2-3 Games remaining: BH - ( PNG , Santa Fe )- Head to head wins: (Ned, Lee, Vidor, Crosby) - BH can clinch a share of the DC at least with a win at PNG, the worst they can do is third place due to head to head over most of the other teams. PNG - (BH, Nederland) - Head to head wins ( Vidor (+8), Lee (+17) ) - Losses (Crosby -6) . PNG can also possibly get a share of the DC this week with a win over the Hill. They can also still miss the playoffs due to the head to head loss vs Crosby. NED - (Crosby, PNG) - Head to head wins (Vidor (+4), Lee (+21) )- Losses (BH - 21). A win this week would put the Dogs in the playoffs and potentially in a 3- way tie for first. If they lose both of their last two depending on what Crosby does in the final game they could miss the playoffs. Crosby - (Ned, Lee) - Head to head wins (PNG (+6) )- Losses (Vidor (-10), BH (-21)). Crosby is currently in fourth with a 1 game lead on Vidor . They need to win at least 1 or their last two to get in and Vidor lose one of their last two. Vidor - (Lee, Dayton) - Head to head wins (Crosby (+10) ) -Losses( PNG -8, BH -14, Ned -4). Vidor is going to need to win out and also need some help from Nederland and Lee to get in. One issue with that is Lee is tied with them in the standings, so they will need the head to head win and then can root for Lee to beat Crosby. Lee- (VIdor, Crosby) - Head to head wins (none) - Losses (PNG (-17) , BH (-21) , Ned (-21). Pretty simple for Lee, win out and they are in.
