Barbers Hill and Crosby disappointed me the most by beating PNG.

We lost Hornsfan86 last week to a fatal car wreck. He was one of the most loyal and passionate fans around. You could count on one hand the number of Hamshire-Fannett games we have missed in the last 30+ years...through rain, shine, sleet or...well, I don't remember any snow. I had to chuckle when talking to a bunch of friends this week. More than one person told me that when they got to the football game, they would look in the stands to find us...then proceeded to the other end of the stands. We didn't call each to other to asked if we were going to the game, we just asked what time do you want to go. Even after Harvey and Imelda, in which both of our houses were flooded, the conversation was still "what time are you going to pick me up to head to the game". I'm not sure how many people on here knew him, as he did not engage too much on this forum. But every ref that has called a Hamshire-Fannett game has surely heard him. But after the game, on the ride back home, our conversations were strictly on who we were playing the next game. He did not dwell on play calling, referee calls, or plays made or not made. Prayers to his wife and three kids. RIP Hornsfan86...you will be missed.

Cleveland Browns, media was crowning them Super Bowl Champs before season. Now for High School, I really think overall the Golden Triangle teams are down. A few bright spots but we could see quite a few teams out after 2nd week of playoffs. Deep East Texas teams I see going very deep are San Augustine and Newton.

After their 4-0 start it has to be United. Another team that started the season off well but will miss the playoffs is Tarkington. Really thought they were going to make the playoffs.

I think the game will be close and it will come down to coaching. I have never seen a MCM game with a certain coach that makes me believe he can pull it off. No prediction given, but if past history repeats itself, I can see a likely scenario taking place. I am not impressed with any team in our district.

You mentioned King. King about to make the playoffs, same as last year. Hiw is that disappointing?

Both teams are inconsistent and not all that good in my opinion. Should be an interesting game. They are playing for 3rd and 4th for a reason and any playoff run will be extremely short.

Hey man I appreciate that but no apology is needed! Like I told you privately and I’ll say here publicly, I appreciate you coming to the defense of the players. Those boys play their tails off and our community needs people supporting them, Lord knows we have enough haters. It’s my bad for making comments that weren’t clear. Soft? I want to apologize to L-Train11. I know this is gonna sound a little soft, especially coming from me, but I should not have called him a coward on the open forum. After some PM’s, I believe he was not expressing himself clearly and possibly was not doing what I accused him of. None of us should ever talk about those kids out there in a Grossly negative way. I thought he was. He told me he wasn’t. I choose to take him at his word. Once again, I apologize.

I doubt it. Most folks recognize pretty quick when someone's not playing with a full deck.... I'm sure it will blow over. And DJ, I hear you and agree, I also get the feeling that if someone wants some of WO-S they had better get it in 2019.

Wow I thought WO-S beat Silsbee. Strange. But then some folks said Hardin Jefferson played WO-S better than Silsbee did. Been one of those weird years I guess.

They were the best team in Baytown. I hope the UIL will put us all in the same district next year. Baytown needs some "rivalry" type games (along with some wins) to peak interest in football again.

DiappointING?.. Meh.. I'm sure there were some teams who had a fair amount of relative "success" last year that didn't reciprocate this season. Most people don't take graduation into account.. most of the time it really hurts a team. On occasion, it can help a team. DisappointED? I would imagine that every team that didn't finish in the top 4 of their district is pretty bummed about it. Especially considering that most of the area districts are mediocre-awful on a regular basis. Obviously, there are usually a couple of exceptions where a few area schools will win 2-3 playoff games or more. As stated previously, the entire area seems to be a little down. More so than usual. I'm thinking San Augustine might be better than I thought they would be at the beginning of the year.. but they're always a potential contender.

Yeah they were 4-0 and playing well and I was on there bandwagon. They were also a school to be effected in a major way by the storm Imelda that probably disrupted a lot.

I'm going to be following this Jasper team. Very interested to know how good this team will be once the length gets on the court. And during the scrimmage, several United fans thought Jasper was ranked. I told them they wasn't (then looking at tabc).

Us too. I think Roy Report does a little more research into the current season while TABC pretty much just looks at the previous season. Wish we were ranked about 20-25 instead of #7 I want our girls playing like they have something to prove! Scrimmage Saturday with United was a hell of a contest! Wish we were on each other schedule.

Waggoner didn't stay at 1 school for almost 20 yrs and win state titles by accident, his method works. You may be surprised next week. Those are the same kids the other guy had and someHOWE couldn't get it done. I'm gonna say HF in a close one this year!!!

If it is anything like last year, that Carthage district will be the 2nd round draw. Which is no good for the teams in our district. That district is stacked.

in my opinion there must be a better kicker in our schools. The performance is simply unacceptable. It has nothing to do with the name and it is not personal. but, kicking has hurt us very much these last several years.
