Carthage is the better team but the better team doesn't always win. Injuries, turnovers, flu bug, trap games, more turnovers, etc can all contribute to upsets. The kids and coaches have to believe that it is possible. I have seen bigger upsets than Huffman beating Carthage. The fact that nobody thinks it will happen, including Carthage, is why it sometimes happens. If y'all meet up, I think most of our district will be rooting for you guys. Good luck

Most teams at this point in season will have players playing hurt. The one that you say is questionable will play. Grades are not an issue.

And one last point. I have to acknowledge the fact that UT Alum has not disputed the Godless claim. How could he, the Dem Party embraced it, and him being just another sheep, follows along. I was told that it's UIL rules that coaches have to play every kid on the basketball team in every game? Is there any truth to this?

PACA (Parents Against Coaches Association) has tried to make this a rule at some places.

I heard United took Nederland to basketball school. In all fairness to the Bulldogs, I was also told their big gun didn't play.

Looking forward to getting the chance to watch Jasper. Was hoping to see Lumberton have to take their medicine against them, but I don't think the schedule worked out where they will play each other. Would have been good game to face a very experienced team that plays with pace and applies pressure throughout the game

I hear you! I wish only 2 teams went out of every district. That would keep us out this year, but it would be excessively more fair match-ups for the playoff run. A lot quicker as well. We follow the rules, we make the playoffs. I will take what I can get. The more Indian Football games I get to watch, the better! Win, or Lose!!!🏈

And if the UIL cannot figure out a way to eliminate the 4-5 team districts, then I say go back to 3 teams qualifying and reward the district champ a first round bye. At least that way a district championship means something. Speaking of district champs, in this current system, I think district champs in all classifications (not just 6A and 5A) should host the first round game. Reward the teams for that accomplishment.

I think those cheerleaders and their coaches rocked it too! I didn’t get the outcome i wanted this weekend but it was a great year and after some time off I’ll be ready to fill my evenings up with youth football again next year! Thank you to all of the people that put countless hours into making STJFL work so that our kids have a place to play.

No truth whatsoever. A lot of schools will guarantee playing time--just time. not equal time-- for sub varsity levels but when it gets to varsity you have to play to win.

I believe Jasper's weakness is their defensive front. They are very small. A big, athletic offensive line leading a power run game would give Jasper lot's of problems (aka Diboll). Jasper's secondary is as good as anyone's so IMO you run it down their throats as long as you can. I think Bellville could possibly be that team.

What's good for Jasper leading into the Bellville game is they have H-J this week that is also Slot-T so they get to see the same offense 2 weeks in a row. What's bad for Jasper is that Bellville will get the film of the game to see how Jasper is going to line up defensively against the Slot-T and that will give Bellville an advantage in my opinion.

Funny how this was started by someone outside of the rivalry. There's a lot of playoff football to be played between now and this possible game. Both teams should be focused on this weeks game. This topic should be locked...
