No matter how watered down the UIL make the playoffs, bottom line is you have to win and if you win you get a trophy. You are the champion of that round. Also, if you win that round and get a trophy the big deal is you get to go to the next round. I see no participation trophy for the losing team.

Seems like Yoe has more going both ways this year than usual. For instance RB #25 is also starting LB and WRs #4 and #1 or both DBs. Diboll has pretty good depth and only have a couple going both ways.

The biggest factor in this and future Crosby games for the year has been the resilience of the new coach and how that transferred to the team. This team was picked on From all the negative town rumors, truths, and Paul Bunyan tales, to the tough predistrict schedule and finally the farce of getting the quarterback ready. I predicted after the Manvel game that the coogs would win district if the quarterback gains eligibility by the start of district. Well it didn’t happen and they sputtered, but still got 2nd in a still TOUGH district. At this time of the year, playoff teams are cutting back practice times to get kids well. Crosby is just getting their starters playing together and I do mean the quarterback. I believe they’ll get better each week and the attitude of both the team and town is skyrocketing. This team could be , could be( I haven’t looked at bracket positions yet) one to rep the region. They are lowkeyed and everyone has discounted them since they lost the supposed inventor of offensive football😏. I know nothing about them hornets other than a guy namedLloyd Archie was a stud for them in 78 when a small Ukrainian named berezoski was controlling the front for your Marlin Bulldogs. Area round game from Randall Reed Stadium in New Caney 11/23 @2pm I guess Code Red ain’t dead? Coming off a game where they set the school playoff scoring record (70) Crosby draws the #4 seed from district 10-5A in the Huntsville Hornets. Huntsville knocked off undefeated district champion Marshall from 9-5A in the opening round. Matchup wise I think this one is pretty simple. Huntsville has two three star prospects in the front seven and two 270+ pound defensive linemen to pair with them. If Crosby can run the ball the way they have the last three weeks they’re probably going to win the game. It’s going to look a lot like what we faced against Manvel so it’s a tall order regardless and probably the first time Crosby feels the loss of who I think was our best offensive lineman. If Crosby can limit the penalties and turnovers they should have some success on Huntsville’s defense. It’s good but it’s not T’Vondre Sweat good anymore. Offensively I think it’s safe to say Huntsville is qb driven. Their offense isn’t as good as the regional final team last year but it could be a bad matchup for Crosby. QB is the coach’s son and very good at running the offense plus he’s played in big games during their run last season. I believe he was hurt a few games ago and came back against Marshall last week. QB will run even less than the one from FBW but gets it out of his hand quick to some solid receivers. Just not real sure how to feel about facing a pass-heavy team after giving up 476 to FBW’s qb in basically three quarters?

I would interested in knowing how you think the coaching style has changed? This is the same style offense Newton has ran since 1968. The same offense that Barbay taught to Jack Alvarez who taught it to Greg Neece. Westbrook the OC now played in this same system and learned it from Barbay coaching here as well. The style is still the same now what isn't the same this year that Neece had the pleasure of having was the 3 guys named Foster, Barlow, and Brown, as well as Noah Williams the year before. So those 4 guys can make any coach look really good. Say what you want but Newton doesn't have any of those guys on this years team not even close to that caliber. The offense is still clicking this year and scoring tons of points and putting up yardage. Just because you hear someone saying the same things over and over in the stands or on the radio doesn't mean they know what the play is. Just because you see someone pulling doesn't mean its the scat. Folks are getting ridiculous the problem with Friday was the fact that Newton had 5 TO's and a couple suspect calls on some big plays that brought TDs back that they end up not scoring on. Newton is fine sit back shut up and enjoy watching these young men play. Get off the coaches back they are working hard day in and day out to put these young men in a position to be successful. No one goes to your job and tells you how terrible you are at flipping burgers or loading wood or driving a forklift so don't come to a game and yell at the coaches about how stupid they are or get on the internet and blast them behind a screen name. I will tell you like I told the last guy if you don't what is happening instead of hiding behind the keyboard go to the fieldhouse and voice your concerns with the coaches. If your not going to do that shut up and enjoy the fact that Newton has lost only 2 games over the past 4 seasons and appreciate what these kids and coaches are doing.

If we stay within 15 - 20 points, I'll be happy. Anything close to 10 points and I'll be surprised. This shouldn't be a good game, really. Looking for one of our new point guards to make some noise.

I do pull for diboll because of the district but i also pull for Cameron because there is some kind of bond between franklin and cameron.... Go look at the franklin football facebook page and you will see cameron stuff on it as well.... Im not snubbing diboll in anyway like others claim but speaking facts.... Cameron is with out a doubt the best team diboll will have seen this year including jasper.... Cameron is also a senior lead team that brought back alot from last year as well.... #25 has been playing both ways since he was a freshman as i remember seeing him when we played in Cameron district.... Diboll does have a good team this year if diboll can get by cameron then grandview no doubt they win it all

Keep in mind they only play 8 minute quarters in high school. He shows up HUGE on the biggest stages and against guys who are ranked in the state and the nation.

Crosby is playing well, and I appreciate your optimism. Who are the best defenses in Crosby’s district? Maybe Barbers Hill, or PNG. Crosby scores 7 on BH and 13 on PNG. Yet, the Coogs are going to drop 42 on Huntsville. The most points Huntsville has given up all year is 29 and they have played 6 playoff teams. Most likely, the Huntsville DL will be living in the Crosby backfield and Code Red will be looking to make a Code Blue. Huntsville wins this one.

Since this was 2014 and not relevant I shared this. Keeps season stats and trends also. No way I share current season stats like this to the public.

I watched the West vs Yoe game last night and the Yoe offense is as good as advertised. They passed pretty good but I was more impressed by the running game and the punt/kickoff returns. I know they held West to 7 points but I saw opportunities in the Yoe D that might favor Diboll. Should be a great game!
