Consistency is key. Newton has had 3 coaches over the past 40 years. And everybody knows why they’re no longer there. Just bc you have a bad season doesn’t mean you fire the coaches. Look at what’s going on in Tenaha. They lost at state 2017 fired that coach. Hired another one, fired him. Got a new one and didn’t even make the playoffs this year. They have not missed a playoff since like 2005. Program is ruined. Gotta be rebuilt.

Silsbee will be a very different team in a month or so, and I mean that quite literally. They still won't be a top team, but will be much improved than what they are now.

This game will be a competitive one. I saw a little let down in focus against the Leps. Was #4 a starter in secondary? Speaking with O/C a few kids offensive has really stepped up. They will continue to rotate players. Its helping to have the depth we have.future is real bright for the next couple of years. Lol wrs,rbs,QB want be our problem for the next couple years.

Huntsville is well aware of the speed of FB Marshall. They had them beat.last year until the crazy play at the end. Achane is just ridiculous and can score anytime he touches the ball. Marshall is clearly going to make a lot of big plays. But Huntsville can also put up some points. Last year’s game was 47-43 and I think this one could look similar. I’ll take Huntsville in the rematch.

The whole program is better. The numbers are up as far as participation goes and every team in the program won district this year. Everybody had a rough night last night from the coaches down to the players. Nobody should condone that, but at the same time we still went 8-2 with a lot of problems on the field during games. We had higher expectations, but sometimes those don't get met. Darrell's doing a good job there and it would be a shame to run off a guy like that because people can't deal with one bad night.

Pop is much improved from last year. But man those wide open drops gotta be caught. We cant continue to make mistakes at this critical point in the season

No its definitely not. I've been watching highlights of the RB reese. He is for real. But how good were those defenses? And how much of the offense is centered around him? He has 1846 yards rushing, avg of 168 per game, and needs 154 to get to 2000. I dont think he gets 2000 yards this season.

Joe schedules who he can schedule. It's tough to schedule teams like PA Memorial, West Brook and United later in the season. They have bigger fish to fry. And there is no guarantee that Silsbee will go 3-4 rounds deep in football playoffs. He has to look out for his basketball team first and foremost.

I don't get it either. I saw a post last night that he was coaching just to clear a check. I don't know Darrell, but I do know that he cares deeply about those kids and gives everything he has to that program.

The Crosby receivers made some great catches today. 4 TD’s on big passing plays plus the FG was setup by a huge pass. I could not believe how many big plays the Crosby offense had. The defense also came up with some big interceptions. So. I was impressed with Crosby. Big plays is what will beat Huntsville, so to give up all those plays and still get the win was fortunate for them. Probably a good game for the Hornets to have before FB Marshall next week.

Clearly, Bellville is better than they were last year. And Jasper clearly was not as good as they were last year. Just listened to the game, but time after time Jasper shot itself in the foot. Fumbles, interceptions, and penalties after penalty. Apparently from comments in prior weeks this has been a common occurrence. I thought surely Jasper would get their act together for the playoffs. Didn't happen. Congrats to Bellville for coming ready to play!

Goose Creek is long an athletic and played well. BH has 2 players in football that should be rotation players with good defensive/rebounding skills.

Carthage is a great team. They did what they were supposed to do which is advance without getting any kids hurt. I hope that part happened because I saw a few kids leave the field. What I'm most proud of is that our coaches and kids came in ready to fight and let the chips fall where they may. We killed ourselves early with bad snaps, a chop block, etc which would have made for a closer game. But even into the 4th quarter, I saw kids launching their bodies into a bigger stronger opponent and never giving up. I would never question a coach using timeouts at the end of an unwinnable game to try to score again. It's one more chance to teach kids that it is never ok to give up or lay down. If someone can't understand that, then they need to spend some time looking in the mirror. The Lumberton players had nothing but good things to say about the Carthage players. That says a lot about those kids, their parents and coaches. Great job Carthage!!! I think some other parents could learn a few things from your example. Great season Raiders!!

Some guys can wring a lot of production out of a group of semi-talented kids and some guys just can't seem to win big with a bunch of talent on the field. I'm not sure where Barbray is.

I broadcast the HF Giddings game last night and even with a 35 to 7 score I was not impressed with the Buffalos win. A kickoff return for a TD, 2 pick 6s from HF backup quarterback, another int set Giddungs up at the Longhorns 4. At the half Giddings had 56 yards rushing and that was their total offense. They did win and deserved to do so, but when Morris the HF quarterback went down the score was 7 to 7 and then the wheels came off. The Tigers should roll if they maintain focus and play their game. It just shocks me that everyone gets on here and bashed Lumberton. Let’s be honest. No we don’t have the size as some of these other schools, but we have a school full of a bunch of players that play their heart out every game. They have nothing to be ashamed of for losing to a number 1 ranked team in the state. Lumberton put up the most points on Carthage this season that is something to be proud of. Making playoffs two years in a row and going 2 rounds deep after going 4-5 seasons of only winning 1 game a year. I’m beyond proud of the raiders.
