  1. LCM and Lumberton both went 2 rounds deep, Carthage is going down, Reg 3 Div 1 is kinda open in my eyes. Vidor hung tough in 5A, they are going to a lot less competitive district, the writing is on the wall is for them to be very competitive and excel greatly at the 4A level. But that’s my honest opinion,

    Good ol days of 23-4A

Silsbee, West Orange Stark, Jasper, LCM, Lumberton, Nederland, Bridge City, and PA Lincoln I think. I remember in the early 90s when districts were 8 teams deep and 2 teams made the playoffs. Once PNG moved to 4A, I think Silsbee went to 20-4A with Dayton, Livngston, Cleveland, Lumberton, and Jasper. Great football back then as well.

    WO-S vs Silsbee

Was just calculating Silsbee stats for our broadcast Friday night. That "three headed monster" that folks speak of has really done well again this year. Taylor, Martin and Arline have combined for 3,050 yards and 38 rushing TD's in the 12 games this season. Not bad.

    WO-S vs Silsbee

Was just told that Silsbee is inviting PN-G, Cleveland and Santa Fe fans to attend to help with the weather. Also, even though Dallardsville Big Sandy doesn't play football, they will be sending a group to perform a dance.

  9. Pretty much. Back in 80's I had kinfolk who graduated from Plano High. They only had the one school back then. The senior class was over 1300 so they had graduation on two different nights. A thru M on one night, N thru Z on next night. Crazy!

    WO-S vs Silsbee

No, it won't. Anybody knows that in the recent games in this series, the WO-S/Silsbee games, regardless of which school came out on top and with very few exceptions, was decided by little more than 10 points. Anyone is entitled to their opinions, but to say that one side or the other will be coasting in the 2nd half of this game, is a little outlandish.

  11. I can see that. In terms of geography, Sheldon ISD makes perfect sense. I don't know about Atascocita, but North Shore does not travel well. I remember in 2015 when the State Championships were in NRG, North Shore was almost outdrawn by Westlake even with the game practically in their own back yard.

    WO-S vs Silsbee

Point number one is insignificant because, well, look at last year. But you are right, it’s more important than common opponents. The only common opponent I would judge off of is HF because it’s so recent. Wos killed them while silsbee barely won, and honestly could have easily lost that game if HF didn’t try kicking a field goal instead of going to OT.. BUT, the same thing happened last year and of course silsbee went on to beat wos in playoffs. Your second point is the most important in my opinion. But it can be looked at a couple of ways: will Silsbee qb have THAT bad of a game again? Probably not, but I do think the chain gang defense makes him struggle a little bit again. Silsbee offense seems to be clicking, could it be because of the quality of opponents? I guess we will find out Friday. This is where the game will be won imo. Silsbee offense vs wos defense. My guess is that wos has the horses in the secondary to play man coverage and sell out to stopping the run, and put pressure on the qb. Silsbee will have to beat them passing the ball, or at least that’s what I think wos gamelan will be going in. On a side note, just like I believe Foster won’t play as bad this time around, I also don’t believe wos offense will have as bad a game as they did last year in round 4. Several turnovers and couldn’t move the ball to save their lives. My prediction is I think wos can hold silsbee to under 17 points, and I think that will be enough to give them the win. I wouldn’t mind being wrong though!!

  19. Sounds good to me, bud. The only thing is that we will lose momentum on the WO-S/Silsbee thread taking over the all time lead (Mid-County Madness thread a years back went 25)

    WO-S vs Silsbee

Yes they do. You've got Silsbee and Wimberly and then 6 top ten ranked teams. But really it's anybody's to win. They are all good games. The best out of the 4 looks to be No. 1 Pleasant Grove vs. No. 6 Gilmer in a rematch of the district game which PG won 37-24. Gilmer played well against Carthage in a 24-15 loss and and beat Newton 16-0 in preseason. And you know what Newton did to Silsbee in preseason - is was a blowout. But Silsbee is not a good early season team. It's like two different programs, one before Halloween and one after.

    WO-S vs Silsbee

I personally think you can throw both teams records out the window and what happened last year or even in the district game From earlier in the year too. This is a rivalry and both teams will be prepared and ready for war and both wants it bad . I think it will come down to who makes the least amount of mistakes and who can keep their head straight and excel from the pressure and the hype. Either way the 409 will go on and i will pull for whichever advances. Go tigers !!

  41. Silsbee has quiet a few RB coming up. Dodd and Martin for sure from JV. Martin did very well for a freshman on JV on defense. Saw some of his highlights on Twitter. See they got moved up for the playoffs. I can see Silsbee will have speed for Years to come.

  42. Agreed, but I think he learned from them. Lane and his 1 yr at Tennessee, to all the stunts he pulled at usc, then when he was at Bama, was told not to show up for national championship game.. pretty big deal. But we will see, to bad they can’t Gus back there I feel bad for him because every year at Auburn looks like he will get fired rumor starts up, that’s got to be hard on him and his family year after year

    BH Vs. Manvel

What I would say is congrats to BH. I really wouldn’t poke at Crosby though. BH won the district and much like PNG if you can do that you get a much easier draw. The team BH drew in the second round had already lost to Marshall 35-8 during the regular season before Huntsville beat Marshall 35-12 in the first round, that’s normally a first round game in the old format. Playoffs are about matchups and BH got a good draw before they got Manvel, could’ve easily gotten A&M Con. in the second round like FB Marshall did had we been playing from a different place in the region. Again, congrats to BH. This is by far their best season since they came from 3A. Watch what Crosby puts together next year if they can stay healthy though, I fully expect for them at a minimum to win the region again.

  46. The flood took its toll greatly. Lots of areas on this side of I-10 took the biggest hits in Beaumont. Right after Harvey and many didn't take heed and get flood insurance. They are done and moved. There are many parenta in BISD that just couldn't understand the situation at United HS and wasn't satisfied with the solution BISD came up with for the damage at the HS, so they left the district all together. About those 700 freshmen. That Number is correct and many more freshman due to come next year. IMO, this is a two year hiatus and they'll be right back in 6a numbers in 2 years. But WB had teetered around 23 and 24 K students for 30 years now. Theyll be fine and be back to 24 ish next realignment...
