Coach Shumake this is Coach Wilson and it was a good win for our girls. You guys definitely made us better when we faced you guys in Jasper. We're still a long ways away but I do see the improvement in our culture, which is most important to me. Once we get it completely changed Lady Mustangs Basketball will be tough. I'm excited about the future of our program.

They have had a ton of good backs but Cleveland and Andersen is what you set your mark too.

Kendall Cleveland all talent and no guts. Now his brother Brian Cleveland and ernest Andersen were the best backs wos ever had. The year herschel walker won the Heisman at Georgia, ernest had more yards than him at Oklahoma state when its was the big eight. And as for dillion, he still riding that pine at asu u but of course they will blame that on coach t some how.

Notable Mustangs from my time in Silsbee were the Feathers brother, Lock, Eric Anderson, Chris Cole, Norris McGhee, and Kendal Cleveland.

I will put it simply, Jack Dallas was a winner. One other I put on that list,,,Tremaine Lewis. WO-S has had some really good QBs but those two make that list.

Coach Stump did beat North Shore in 2016.

It is 4A after all. A small team can make headway if they play smart and with confidence. I wouldn't be that surprised to see Silsbee make it back to the Region Tournament. They may not make it through district undefeated but that will just make the next couple of months more interesting and more fun.

We home-schooled our boys ‘til HS, and played in the league with SWLA. They were always very good, along with Faith Christian out of Leesville, La.. The league was very competitive and had good parity. A couple of the Baton Rouge teams were very athletic. The traveling though was non-stop, as we were the only team in Texas. The majority were in Louisiana (BR, Lafayette, Leesville, LC, Monroe) and then a few teams in western MS..

They are, talking to one of the guys I work with he said his nephew plays for them but lives in Riley. He said they recruited him last year because of his height. He is a home school kid that was going to Moss Bluff but once they started talking to him decided to be home schooled... LOL wish UIL would allow our coaches to recruit home schooled kids.... LOL His other niece is now being home schooled and goes to SWLA to play softball. They have one state like the past 3 years and have a very dominate team he was telling me and travel all over the state to play.

Coach Wilson will get them better! Lot of respect for what he is doing there and how hard they played against us!

Yes sir, I was doing the updates for MaxPreps and at the end of the 3rd quarter I told Soulja that the PA only scored 1 point that quarter. Going in, we knew that this would be a blowout because PA is down this year. Coach Brown was tasteful about it. A lot of substitutions throughout the game. I don't think a starter played after the halfway point of the 3rd except one (sophomore) and that was just to work on her post game for a few minutes.

He was on the '87 & '88 teams, champs and runners up. '87 team beat the #1 team in the nation,,, yes the nation Aldine McArthur. WO-S won state and ended up being like #12 in the nation not even big school class Texas. Along with the chain gang Tremaine orchestrated back to back semi-final beatdowns of Kerrville Tivy.

What Silsbee needs more than anything right now is help on the boards. That's the only reason WB won tonight. Not sure how much Martin and Cartwright will help in that regard. There's a few more freshman football players with decent size, but I don't know if they play basketball or not. and the final dunk count was 2 - 0 WB, unless something happened in the last minute of the game. They did try to get cute and do one off a backboard assist and missed horribly.

I remember Jeff Knox, and so does McKinney. Back further for WO-S how about Lawrence Hardin. When this guy squared off to the ball carrier that play was officially over. They did not make the chin strap that could stay buckled when this dude hit you.

The Pirates finally got a break. Been the little stepchild in 5AD2 for long enough. Pirate football should be a lot more competitive. And Pirate basketball.......well, I’ll save that for another thread. 😄

I think it was 49-16. They called all their timeouts to just run minutes off the clock in the 4th. We weren’t able trying to run it up but we weren’t letting up either. Did not press in the second half. Our two leading scorers weren’t starters. But all 10 of our girls can go. Only had 3 players in double figures And there’s some feelings between the teams that goes back to a spring league at Livingston when our group was sophomores and freshmen.

Anytime a former WOS Mustang is let go, the program takes a step backward in wrong direction.

There has been a lot of talk about the X’s and O’s, which team has gotten better, who made adjustments since the last meeting etc. Some are good points. One thing that I feel certain is in the WOS corner is conditioning. If the game is close late in the 3rd....advantage WOS.

LCM and Lumberton both went 2 rounds deep, Carthage is going down, Reg 3 Div 1 is kinda open in my eyes. Vidor hung tough in 5A, they are going to a lot less competitive district, the writing is on the wall is for them to be very competitive and excel greatly at the 4A level. I can see that. In terms of geography, Sheldon ISD makes perfect sense. I don't know about Atascocita, but North Shore does not travel well. I remember in 2015 when the State Championships were in NRG, North Shore was almost outdrawn by Westlake even with the game practically in their own back yard.

Oh, I do hope you'll need your rain gear. Who else is superstitious about sports? I certainly was when I played back in the ancient times. Silly. I had to eat a grapefruit on Thursday night watching a particular TV show or else I would jinx us. Don't remember the show, don't remember how it got started. Last night I felt I had to change seats at the half because the Tigers were flat. Seemed like the Buffaloes had the formula. The Tigers weren't out of it by any means but they needed some breaks and some big plays. So I changed seats and look what happened, 28 unanswered points in the second half. My rational brain tells me that it's happenstance coupled with the fact that the Tigers stepped up and performed. But my primitive brain tells me it was all because I changed seats. Last year at Legacy there was a moment when it looked like Cuero was about to take control for good. The grandkids were with us there at Legacy and they are big Harry Potter fans. Cuero had just scored and was driving again so I told them needed something so they should cast a spell. Happily they obliged. They consulted among themselves and came up with a hex and chanted some Potter stuff and waved their arms and the next play the Tigers recovered a fumble and ran it back for a touchdown. I mean the very next play! Remember the play? It was hilarious! You should have seen their faces. "Granddaddy! It worked! It actually worked! We did it! We did it!" It's become legend in our family already. See? That's how these things get started. And now it's the rain. If it rains the Tigers will beat the Mustangs in playoff situations. The quality of the teams has nothing to do with it. It's the rain you see. I was there in 98, wasn't it at TJ stadium? My daughter was a senior. I was there last year when it was obvious to everyone that WOS looked very uncomfortable right from the start but the Tigers seemed to be thrilled thrilled that it was storming. Weather is the great equalized and that's factual and reasonable. But what day it decides to rain is happenstance. And I love it. And why not?Usually these things are decided in delivery rooms 17 or 18 years ago or by who moves to what town are by who can find and keep the best coach. But every now and then fate rears it's disturbing head. I wonder if the Mustangs would trade every single one of those regular season wins for the two Tiger postseason wins?
