Congrats to Tigee Rideaux (Hamshire-Fannett,8-1)& Coach Micheal Thomas (Temple HS,9-0) .These young coaches have taken over dormant programs and turned them around. It’s crazy how in setx we don’t value our young energetic coaches. One day the administration in BISD will value the energy of young coaches and stop letting them leave the district !!!! Again congrats and stay the course & keep teaching these young men . Because remember NOBODY CARES ,WORK HARDER!!!

They need to quit looking at the beginning so hard and start looking at the finished product. I mean who wouldn't take some losses at the beginning of the year and wind up with a State Championship.

HD won "one" district game last year as opposed to "none" this year. HD "power" potential extends no farther than Sabine Pass, WH, Burkeville, etc. HD will compete nowhere beyond the local bottom feeder circuit regardless of classification. This has not changed in the past several decades. In regards to the coaching, HD should count themselves fortunate that they have a warm body to place in the position. Should Bill Belichick take the position, HD would see no quantifiable change in results.

I know I explained this earlier and will again. Shortly after stepping down, Coach Hodges reached out to me to explain the steps that lead to his stepping down and turning overt the reigns to Coach Wallace. Again, it was a divorced father who had wanted to see his only son play his final year of football. He had hoped that final year would be at H-D, which is why he waited until it was settled that his son would play his senior year elsewhere. He was still around the team during the week, but the position allowed him to get away on Friday and see his son play. Was it foolish of Coach Hodges to hold out hope until so late in the game? Maybe. But then I could never understand the circumstances. I have no children of my own and I grew up is a household with parents who have now been married for over 50 years. As to Coach Wallace, I think you are underestimating his skills, he had been Coach Hodges' right hand man since he got there and possesses plenty of football knowledge. Simply because the Bobcats had a less then successful year doesn't mean that Coach Wallace was not qualified for the job. You are entitled to your opinion but I would point out that over the last several years, Hull-Daisetta has run off a number of decent coaches. You don't want to gain a reputation like the one you are earning by starting a topic like this.

My guess, the slow starts. Folks forgetting that Silsbee played a tough pre-district schedule. But peaking at playoff time - Priceless!

No one in 4A?

As of Friday, December 13th, my daughter will be a Lamar Alum. I have been to every home game and several road games the past 5 years. For the life of me I do not know why Schultz was fired. None the less, Art Briles is a cancer. It's a scientific fact. Hire Coach Taylor and let's see what he can do.

Correct. I watched both games. Silsbee was a tougher opponent for Cuero than PG was. I still say if Silsbee would have play selected more runs to the outside and fewer between the tackles, they had a legitimate chance to win against Cuero. PG was not going to win their game. This year, go win the dang thing! Silsbee, you have what it takes to win this.

I list did some research on Wimberley... Silsbee should beat this team by 2 scores...

Bell and Buse will really need to step up on the defense and plug up the middle and come away with some sacks.

I watched HF in two games at Evadale tourney and Coach is getting everything from the HF boys. I was impressed with him on the sidelines.

They all all playing for a state championship in football right now.

I’m only commenting because, I didn’t think Silsbee would score 29 points on WO-S defense and they did! I also did not believe that Silsbee had a strong secondary, if there is a weakness on this team it MAY be that. Hopefully, posters’ will be able to still make predictions right or wrong to pump up their team, and not offend others.

I can name 8-10 Silsbee QB's that I would put ahead of Foster. No knock on Foster. He has been fine.

Gilder

Been a bad year for torn ACL 's , four defensive starters so far this year. I think one just had surgery, one is scheduled, one is gonna try and play, if not this week , the next, and the last one is waiting for MRI, don't see him playing this week though? You would think with the new rules knee injuries wouldnt be so bad, but its really hit hard. Just think if these kids were healthy and Tarver hadnt jumped in the creek and broke his foot, at the begining of the season, this would be a darn good defense right now.

One thing you have to keep in mind that you mention is that they play no one with the speed anywhere close to what Silsbee will bring to the table. They havent seen it and they cant duplicate it in practice. Silsbee just needs to.make every possession count and know they are going to score some, too. And when they do, not to panick. Get some stops and score when you do.

That's a good way to summarize it, Griff. I watched the replay on TL last night just to hear Stelly's take on what happened. I just kept thinking "the miracle on I 10" is what I'm gonna call this. I remember sitting in the stands thinking the game was over going into the 4th, up 28-17 and Silsbee having to punt. What unfolded after, the plays Silsbee pulled off, are just unbelievable. The perfect passes thrown by kids who dont throw passes. The unlikely calls that went they're way and I'm still trying to figure out how Martin caught that 2 point conversion. Still hard to fathom that 4th qtr. Anyway, we got everyone back next year... this loss will burn through the offseason.

I will never lump an entire fan base off what a handful of fans say or do. I have extreme respect for WO-S football and all that surrounds it. Also have great respect for some of their fans here on this site. WOSGrad, griff, Gasilla, GUNHO, WO-S 89. Mad respect. But there are a few (and everybody has them, including Silsbee) that made comments in the "smack" thread (for a lack of better words) that showed zero respect for Silsbee football. You know who you are. Comments like "game will be over by halftime", "Silsbee will not score more than 14", "Tigers aren't tough enough". Score predictions like "42-14", "28-7", etc. etc. For those few I say this: HOW BOUT DEM TIGERS!!!!!!!!! 3-0 BABY!!!!!!

Well, I will say it like this. As a Lamar University alum, I am PERFECTLY ok with going with Jeff Traylor. For if Lamar does hire Art Briles, then LU might as well do away with the football program, or for that matter the athletic program as a whole as far as I am concerned as my little butt will never be in the stands of Provost-Umphrey or Vincent-Beck and will never be in the seats at the Montagne Center for ANY event. And I bet I am not the only one.
