  1. And by the way, he has a nice basketball resume being hes won State as a player, was an Asst. to Coach Lee at Central when they made it to State and was on staff with Kendrick Perkins in the negotiation of a contract or two or 3 or so.Yall have a good one and might would wanna do what you have to to keep him cause it's not that HF is a hot bed place to wanna coach unless your trying to get your feet wet.

  2. Again, I wasn’t there, but I have a hard time buying into all the racist remarks. Orangefield had an outstanding post player last year that was black. To my knowledge, he was accepted at the school and by the town people. And while Coach Tigee was at Ltown last year, I never heard of any racist problems, and the whole team was white and thought the world of him. I’ve met him and we talked, and he appeared to be a fine gentleman, and my G’son thought he was great. And Coach Tigee helped him with his plans after high school.. Now a short word about any transfers to HF. Rare is the HS in this area, or State, who doesn’t get transfers. I heard it used to go on at TJ in the 50’s & 60’s. High Schools today need a revolving door for athletes. But if a young man was a good basketball player, why .transfer to HF? Why not EC, United, or Silsbee? Maybe it’s because they like the new Coach. I stand by Coach Tigee, as will his players, white, black and brown.

  3. Gees guys or girls can we get back on topic. This has gotten ridiculous. also to set the record straight coach Gerald parr in the late 90s and Coach Kenner early 2000s. Had 20 win seasons. former all state alum. also both of those coaches would get in player’s faces and let them know when they screwed up. as a whole too many dang softies. Learn how to take criticism. Kids gotta learn how to deal with things without parents softening up and making excuses. mamba mentioned college and real world. You think high school coaches are too hard shoot college coaches can down right get nasty. I played for Mike deane.... need I say more. Im glad to see Hf back to winning. Good job tigee.

  5. 1.) This is recruiting.. it's recruiting without having to recruit. Yes, money plays a huge role. First class facilities brings them in and wealthy families provide the kids with everything needed. 2.) You are 100% going to get judged for this. Several years ago I made this same argument and was blasted on this site. Back when WOS couldn't get past Carthage and I brought up the difference between having a 100 yard indoor practice field and riding a school bus to the state championship game. For the most part, people (SETX) refuse to believe that "what my grandaddy had" isn't good enough anymore.

  6. For all of you people that "heard" what coach Rideaux did during the OF game let me tell you what actually occurred. The schools administrators, fans, scorers table and Athletic trainers were allowed to talk to the head coach in any way that they chose to, and the incompetent JV officials didn't control it nor did OF's head coach. Coach Rideaux's sister was also threatened by fans saying she needed to move out of her seat. Not only was she threatened but the two kids that she had with here were talked to like they were less than human. Coach rideaux did not tell a kid he had one job to "make" a 3 pointer he told him that he was subbed in the "shoot" a three pointer and the Kid did not take the shot. The racism that was shown in that gym has not been spoken about one time in this thread, but yall are dragging a guy's name through the mud who would give the shirt off of his back to these kids that yall say he mistreats. You cowards on here disgust me. The real issue should be how HF was called for 10 offensive fouls and orangefield was called for 1. The real issue should be how certain coaches of certain skin color aren't responsible for controlling their fans. As a supporter of Kids and anyone trying to help kids I think Coach Rideaux is doing an amazing job with a school who was 3-27 last year an 49-189 the past 10 seasons. How about we start addressing the issue of racism wait we cant do that because the ones that are spewing negativity on this man are obviously guilty of it. My advice to coach Rideaux is to continue to coach your team and help build young men. I guess some of you have never seen success in sports so "almost" is good enough for yall. I applaud Coach Rideaux for demanding excellence from his kids on the floor and in the classroom. Oh by the way he has won more games this year than any coach in the history of the school and its not even christmas. He is obviously doing something right.

  7. Ive attended 3 HF games and there is nothing ive seen from Tigee as being disrespectful or whatever some of you may believe he is. Just because he isnt your flavor doesn't take away from the fact he loves coaching and loves coaching kids. I see a young coach pouring his heart and soul into a program that was TERRIBLE!!!! The amount of time and energy he has spent trying change years of a losing mentality should be applauded not ridiculed . But thats the society we live in which is truly sad. Understand Lumberton was competitive but thats the mindset some of you like oh we played hard thats good enough , but dude wants to win period. So if ruffling some feathers in themprocess achieves the end goal then so be it. Ask any head coach they are only as good as their assistants so if your assistants are lazy you wont win, hence I guess he did make a difference and Lumberton made the playoffs. Also lets talk about these refs who are suppose to be unbiased but become emotionally involved when their judgement is questioned that says to me you never want to be wrong take your emotions out nobody pays to come see you ref. So say what you heard from your own ears not what someone else told you (ill be waiting). This tread was started to be positive but some of you love spewing negativity. TOXIC TONGUES ALWAYS GOT OPINIONS!!!!

  13. I don’t know what all the residency discussion is about but the UIL policy is pretty well cut and dried. I hope for the players sake everything that is supposed to be done has been done. Good basketball is a lot more fun to watch than running clocks and blow outs. Let’s tip it off and let the kids play.

  14. Sounds to me like they were accustomed to losing and it was fine as long as lil player A or Big player B got to play but now that hes there and a few kids decided they wanted to play for him and there parents made a way we have to come up with a way to get player A and B back on the court so this is what's being done to slander his name. I believe some would rather there son play than have a chance to learn the game and become better at it from him. What's gonna end up happening is there gonna go back to the ways of past and after this season he move on cause from what he did at Lumberton and HF so far his stock is risen and the rest are hoping for failure but before he allows you to dehumanize him or his family he will take his talents elsewhere. If you have been to a HF basketball before he got there and are a true fan of the sport there's not alot to see unless your the relatives of the kids playing because I got a 1st hand look lastyear and wasnt impressed whatsoever and watched him play Kountze this year and was highly impressed with the turnaround. You can blame it on the transfers or whatever reason you choose but winning cures all unless Player A and B isn't a contributor to the success in the eyes of the beholder. Great Job Coach T and I wish you the best. Remember, Misery loves Company.

  15. So this Coach Tigee was one of the Lumberton coaches last year? Sat right behind the Raider bench a few games (Fr, JV, all on them). Never heard a word from any coach I'd consider outrageous or over the line. They were pretty tame in comparison to some of the others out there. Almost too nice, but I guess we all have different standards for what "harsh" is.

  16. I'm kidding. I agree that coaches should coach however they like. But coaches also need to know that if you yell at the kids, the scorer's table, the stands, the refs, etc, you probably don't get to coach at all for very long.

  19. I don't understand why it's "changing the culture" when he's just bringing in kids from another community. That's more like changing the personnel.

  20. Come one AAW your a smart man ,I’m willing to bet that if this HF admin had any concerns the kid or kids in question would not be playing . To my knowledge the kid in question is playing jv but to my understanding and correct me if I’m wrong they have nonresident tuition for students who don’t reside in the district kinda like HJ does. So does that make them ineligible to play a sport especially if they going for academic reasons? I just want to know that’s all

  21. I heard these rumors as well but I was not at the game so I can’t confirm. The only thing I do know is the effort Coach Rideaux puts in behind the scenes. His coaching technique can be blunt at times but he treats his players like children of his own. I can almost guarantee that if any of the HF players needed anything, Coach Rideaux would be the first person they would call. He has helped several kids get into college whether it was at Central, Lumberton, or with an AAU team in the summer. He takes care of his players on and off the court. I’ve seen first hand how his players at HF gravitate towards him off the court. He is a role model to his players and a great one at that. It is okay to question his coaching methods but if anyone questions his character, he or she does not know Coach Rideaux very well.

  24. There always has been and will continue to be rich and poor people. There are rich black people and brown people. What does color have to do with, other than big girl attempting to throw racism in there somehow. That's her MO.

    Rich people, poor people

Really don’t understand the article, or the point of posting it here other than trying to be racist. Lebron James and Jennifer Lopez don’t care about poor or middle class people either. Rich people are rich and hang out with rich people and have rich people problems. Middle class and poor people are the same way. What does money have to do with color. Remember, money is green. Not black, brown or white.
