Kind of like nobody wants to attend football games with the teams that never throw the ball? Coaching philosophies shouldn't be about game attendance. High school coaches mostly do not get to choose what type athletes he/she inherits. I am all for a coach to make decisions on what's best for his/her team to be successful and if it's to hold the ball, then so be it.2 points -

This was a good game to broadcast. 10 lead changes and no team had a lead more than 6 points all night. Lumberton led after 1st 14-13, LC-M led at half 23-22, tied 37-37 at end of 3rd. LC-M's Doucette led all scorers with 22 points (11-15 from FT line)2 points -

Hey Big Girl, the next time you go grocery shopping, if you turn on an aisle and see a man taking a dump on the floor, what would you really do? Would you go to the toilet paper aisle and offer him a roll? As dumb as I feel asking this question, I am serious. This is what is happening in California and it’s going to get worse. No law enforcement means total mayhem. Is this how all dims feel or are the wrong ones getting elected? Can you imagine living in a lawless society? How about your kids?1 point

I never said he only had one star at Allen.. 6A schools are loaded with D1 commits. He just also happened to have the best quarterback in the history of Texas high school football (statistically) who happens to be an NFL starter right now. And.. he no longer has to prove anything since he’s already reached your definition of elite? Hmm.. wouldn’t that just prove that state titles can’t be won without stud players?1 point -

He won a title 4 years before Murray.. then 3 in a row with him. So a great chance, huh? We’ll see. So they’ll continue winning the district championship and just keep getting further into the playoffs until they just win it all? I’m betting you wouldn’t bet on that.1 point -
I blame the offense. Good coaches teach their teams how to play against multiple styles of play. A team sitting in zone is no less playing basketball than a team in man. Holding the ball for quarters at a time isn't playing at all and it's non-competitive. Saying that we're not good enough to score against zone so we're not even going to try sends the wrong message. Especially in preseason/tournament games when you should be working on this stuff. However, I think there are situations where it's wise like holding the ball for the last shot of the quarter. I also like how Lincoln used to do it. They'd hold it, draw the defense out, and then carve it up. None of this dribble in and dribble back out crap. Compete!1 point

I agree. Most times the "holding the ball" is to draw the defense out of a zone. I simply see it as an offensive strategy. Nothing wrong with that.1 point -

The question that you people who love this game so much are missing is. Why do you think one team is allowed to “stall“? Well I’ll answer it for you. It’s 100% because the opponent refuses to play man to man defense. “Stall ball” would be obsolete without teams sitting in zones. Since we want to outlaw “stall ball” should we outlaw zones as well??? So who do we blame for “stall ball” the offense or the defense? Before you judge someone please become knowledgeable of what you are talking about.1 point -

A 45 sec shot clock would do wonders for HS basketball. 45 sec is PLENTY of time to control pace, yet still play basketball. Nobody goes to a game to see a team sit at 1/2 court & hold the hall for 4 minutes or longer. Play basketball. Other states have already instituted the shot clock with great success, as well as youth academies overseas.1 point -

No question. But the decision is easier made when you have other weapons. Plus.. from what I understand, the kid was a problem all year. He missed the first half of their semifinal game the week before because of taking the ACT. To be honest, I’m not sure I would’ve let him go to begin with.1 point -

The conversation in question.. (the one I was in), was comparing Coach Briles to his predecessor implying that because Briles had won state titles previously that he was automatically a better coach. But actually, no. My opinion on what makes a good coach is someone that gets the most out of their players or more. I think that wins/losses is a fraction of what makes someone good. I personally think some of the best coaches to have ever lived have never won a championship. It's easy to win with better players than the team you're playing against.1 point -

I halfway expected a response similar to that. So by your definition, Phil Danaher wouldn't be considered an elite coach? Even though he has won more football games than any other Texas high school football coach to have ever coached. Good to know. I'll be sure and send UIL and email asking them to put an asterisk by his name in the coaching Hall of Fame. Also, you do realize that there are quite a few coaches to have won a state championship and then never even gotten close again, right? Most of them, in fact. So.. were they only "elite status" that one year? Because I personally know of coaches that have won a state title and missed the playoffs in their careers after doing so. I just wanna make sure I'm understanding how to describe a coach when someone asks me. And yeah.. let's compare the game they played against each other, because that definitely closes the case. Not surprised by that response either, btw. Someone who thinks that winning a state championship makes someone a better coach than someone that hasn't would definitely think that the results of one game also proves that someone is a better coach. To be clear: I'm not pro Finney or anti Briles, just exposing some ignorance.1 point -

Joseph and Mary did not seek asylum in Bethlehem. They went to Bethlehem per a decree of Caesar Augustus. They had to travel to Bethlehem and register for a census. Perhaps your question is why did Joseph, Mary, and Jesus flee to Egypt after the birth of Jesus? According to the Bible, an angel appeared to Joseph and told him to take Mary and Jesus to Egypt to escape orders from Herod to kill all of the male infants in Judea. I have no idea if Joseph, Mary, and Jesus entered Egypt legally, illegally, or if it mattered. I do not know if Egypt had border protections or policies to secure its borders. I do know that Joseph, Mary, and Jesus left Egypt and returned to Judea (Nazareth) after Herod died. Will all of the undocumented visitors to the USA be leaving anytime soon? Just asking for a friend. Regarding the immigration issues facing the USA, I lean toward finding a path to citizenship for those that are here and enforcing border policies going forward. We cannot be a society with open borders. Too many variables regarding national security, economic stability, and sustaining the many different cultures that are vibrant in the USA. I am not an advocate for dividing families or putting mothers and babies in jail. Let's find a common sense way for creating a path to citizenship for those that are here, and then enforcing our borders in a sensible, lawful, and peaceable manner. Taking out the Iranian commando terrorist was a good thing. Iran understands one thing - force. Peace.1 point

They said the same thing back when McCain and them were in middle school. I posted on here that silsbee would not lose a district game for 4 years straight and would win state at least twice. People laughed and argued with me for days. Then boom it happened. This 8th grade group right now is just as good as that group but deeper. They have two BIG TIME players. If they all stay in silsbee it will happen again1 point -
Impeach means to accuse. So the Dems have made an accusation. Along comes Pelosi wanting to dictate how the Senate will try the case or even if they will. In 1993 the case of (federal judge) Nixon v. US, SCOTUS noted that the Constitution forbids them from reviewing the process . So even SCOTUS cannot dictate or rule on how the Senate conducts a trial. In the ruling SCOTUS (quoting the Constitution) that the “Senate shall have sole power” to try any impeachment. So SCOTUS says that even they cannot step in (nonjusticiable) but Pelosi thinks she can. SCOTUS has essentially negated the second article and I think it was in US v. Nixon (president) that contempt of Congress had to go through a US Attorney and that Congress has no such authority to hold someone criminally or civilly in contempt. That again appears to negate article two of obstruction. So we have at least two SCOTUS cases that negate obstruction and at least one the reaffirms the Constitution whereas only the Senate can set the rules for trying the case and even SCOTUS can’t step in. Oh yeah...... what was the vote count? 9-0. Yep, a unanimous SCOTUS said that they basically have no dog in the hunt. Yes, it is nothing more than a comedy show authored by the Dems with no direct evidence and a couple of constitutional violations along the way.1 point

You know WOS has been the most consistent program of any school I know.Out of their 42 year history they have had only a few sub par years. That record has been achieved by one head coach and his defensive coach. The first HC took his teams to four state championships winning two of those and numerous playoff births. When he retired the DC became HC and took his teams to four SC winning two of those and numerous playoff births. Some people get spoiled and think if you don't go to the SC almost every year you need change.Fact is WOS has the most winning percentage of any school in Texas. Some years your up and some your down, that's football. There are a lot of teams that were power houses.La Marque,Stephenville, celina to name a few and look at where they are now.I'm not for short runs of success I'll take the program we have now to those.Rant over.1 point -
