Art Briles leaving Mount Vernon

They reason they cancelled is because the Denton Ryan DC backed out. He is now #3 to do so. #4 if you count Briles who a lot say was never really offered it2 points -
Nederland matches up fairly well with Memorial. While not as good as PA bigs, Nederland has the size and depth inside to compete with Memorial. And Hefner is maybe a little more than a decoy.1 point

Hope Bill O'Brien was taking notes on how a real football coach has his team ready to run a fourth down play. McNair should have fired O'Brien and kept Vrabel.1 point -
I wouldn’t trade the last four years for anything. But I have to say it’s more fun when you don’t know how it’s going to turn out. These two are so close that it feels like we just saw game one of a best of three mini-series. It’s important to win that series because the winner doesn’t face Yates till the region tourney.1 point

Hudson ran out of gas after halftime. Their game plan was working but Silsbee was just too much. Their game plan was to control tempo and get McCain in foul trouble. Which they did in first half. That scrawny red headed guard could play. Lol1 point

Well IDK, SetxSports has NorthShore ranked #1 in their poll ahead of #2 Bmt United with that said United is the underdog in this one. The contest will be played at NorthShore that in its self is an obstacle to be reckoned with. The winner will have a leg up on the district title for sure.1 point

Lumberton 52 Bridge City 46/FINAL
TxHoops reacted to Double_Dribble for a topic
Bridge City looked good in the game. Tough physical defense and hit from deep. They had a excellent game plan that stymied the Lumberton Players. Lumberton players looked out of sorts until the 2 minute mark in the fourth. Bridge City appeared in control for the majority of the game with Lumberton struggling to keep it close. Lumberton final seemed to get things going and won it in the final 2 minutes. The game was interesting because it was close, but for the majority of the game Bridge City simply out worked and out hustled Lumberton. No players stood out for Lumberton, few good plays here and there. #4 and #23 for Bridge City were stand outs for Bridge City. Both these boys hit contested threes throughout the game. In my opinion the Lumberton players seemed to take this one for granted as a result almost lost. Mitchell and his staff did everything except get on the floor play last night. Lumberton’s three coaches worked their tails off trying to get something out of those boys. They suited up 9, played 6. But Mitchell was rotating those six constantly trying to find a combo that would play. He went with a big man(wore #23, thought he’s worn #11 in the past) in the starting five which paid dividends against the bigger BC team and used a guard #4 off the bench. I was somewhat surprised he didn’t go deeper into his bench to look for a spark as he normally goes to his 7th man (#10) who played well the last few games but received a DNP-CD. Overall Lumberton loses this game if not for the coaching staff. Mitchell and his staff kept the playoff hopes alive for Lumberton.1 point -
You gotta love that kid. My personal interest is that he reminds me of my grandson. He's going to end up about the same height and build, maybe a little taller. He's quick and agile but he's not going to be any kind of specimen. I'd like him to see Wirth play in a big game. Actually I'd like to see a lot of kids 10 to 13 year olds see Wirth play. I remember a few years ago when Silsbee met Hudson in the Regional Semi Final. Hudson had a kid who looked a lot like Wirth. In warm ups I just dismissed him as just a guy that maybe gets to play from time to time. They announce the starting line up and low and behold. Then the the game starts and this guy proceeds to light it up. The Tigers were just about helpless to stop him. And he was absolutely not fast. He was smooooooooth though. Deceptive. He led Hudson to a 3 point lead at the half. The Tigers were a little shell shocked but they came out turned it on and ran way to a 19 point win. He didn't have that much help either. If there had been one more like him on the court for the Hornets it would have been a question.1 point

Depending on who you ask it’s either eligibility questions or injury1 point -
BC with two tough losses this week. Could easily be 2-0. Conversely, LCM with two big wins that could have gone either way. These teams are so closely matched. Poor coaches are going to age a couple of years or more during this season.1 point

Shouldn't have never been given the opportunity to be the head coach at United in the first place. He didn't have the energy to do the job and that came out of his mouth before he was given the job. But he belonged to THAT church in Beaumont and one thing they do is look out for each other over there. So happy for the kids on my side of the freeway to be moving on from this. Hopefully the AD does what's best for the kids this time around because like i told him in conversation, he failed at that with his last hire. Give our kids the same opportunity as you do the ones on the other side of the freeway...1 point
