That quote about Trump’s outburst at the Military is from a book written by two WAPO reporters, about a meeting in 2017. Now, please take off your, “I hate Trump” hat and ponder this. Do you really think WAPO wouldn’t run that story if true? You know they’re Trump Haters. Here’s a few examples since Trump was elected. Their reporting of Trump over 90% negative - Indicates extreme Bias They ran the Russian Collusion as true for 2.5 years - Unreliable They’re currently being sued for a false news story about a teenager. The same type suit that CNN has already paid up on. - Fake News You’re an educated person. Didn’t you ever learn at college to question things if they sound absurd? Especially if the source, or it’s people, have already proved itself/themselves to be Biased, Unreliable, and Fake on occasion. I know, when silence is called for, Trump often says the wrong thing, but this story has Red Flags all over it. PS; I was in the Army, but never went overseas. The only combat I saw was in a few bars. Sorry for giving the wrong impression.3 points

I guess the question is, when should an athlete make a visit if he plays 2 or more sports? You are not allowed to miss class for visits. Have to go on weekend when the schools have scheduled visits. You go when they schedule your visit. Silsbee's Dralyn Taylor missed the Hardin-Jefferson basketball game due to making a visit for football. It is what it is.1 point -

Silsbee 2020 Football

I expect first or second in District for the Tigers. Coach Smith is playing system football where the Tigers should be fairly consistent year in and year out... it’s not just putting the team’s fortunes on a single good player every few years. Success like the Tigers have enjoyed the last two years tends to bring in bigger numbers of players, but it can also breed a little complacency. Hopefully that’s not the case. Realignment could also have a big impact playoff success.1 point -

Trump was only reporting what was reported to him. Lying Generals? I suspect that it boils down to the definition of injury. I assume you never served in the military. I’ve had friends killed in combat. My neighbor, a Marine in Vietnam, had his belly ripped open & had to hold his guts in (thankfully, he recovered after months in the Hospital). Constantly we see amputees from IED’s on TV. When serving in an environment where things like that happen, a concussion, as bad as it is, is considered a virtual non issue.1 point

Goldman is the largest underwriter of IPO’s in the country. I guess you could boycott the stock market if you want, but not sure how that will work out for you. I have a problem with huge global companies that nearly have monopolies telling who companies can hire if they want to be allowed to go public on the stock market.1 point -

Great answers and explanations. Like I tell all my friends, if you haven’t been in a high school from 4-6A in the past twenty years, and by in a high school , I mean sit in the library or a classroom all day (not feasible for most but more accurate than the five word explanation of school your teenager gives you while focusing on their phone) you’ll be shocked. Again, the school is a reflection of society, so hangout all day at Walmart and watch people and their actions for more shock value. The most disappointing thing is the lack of accountability by students, teachers, administrators, and schools. About ten years or more, schools (where I worked at least) stopped sending kids who would verbally assault teachers to the local judge who would fine the parents ( finally make them be parents by $). The county just said, no, we’re too busy. The really bad ones can really get away with being IDIOTS, yet they’re often untouchable because of their 501 plan. Kids know exactly what they can get away with ( just like us in the 70’s). There are still great kids, parents, teachers, administrators, and schools, but not as many. But I am excited to get back in it, definitely takes a special (demented maybe😏) to do it.1 point -
Coaching Carosel
Bulldogs92 reacted to B for a topic
Hit the nail on the head. Lots of teachers in my family. Also, I might add, the common belief that teachers or coaches are off-work when the kids aren't in school is way off base. The state keeps adding more and more and more paperwork, trainings, etc. There are enough mandatory trainings now that the state apparently expects teachers to also be doctors, lawyers, psychiatrists, etc. One thing that is difficult to gauge is how long a teacher should work to earn that salary. A lot of administrators don't hold the teachers very accountable, so it would be easy to treat it like a 9 to 5 (or 8 to 4) job. But a good teacher - let alone a good coach - puts in a lot more than that. You would NOT want to pay them hourly. The insurance is bad but, combined with salaries rarely making a real jump (this year was an exception) teachers in this area in particular have no real raise in take-home pay more often than not. Why does discipline stink? Mommies that don't believe Johnny's crap stinks. Administrators that don't want to deal with mommy. AND..... the state has begun to decide what is an acceptable discipline rate. Not sure now, but at one point they were essentially giving quotas that you can only have a certain number of kids disciplined in in-school-suspension or otherwise. So are you gonna send a kid for screaming obscenities in the hall? Or do you save that spot for a kid that vapes in the bathroom? Or threatens a teacher? Plus some kids are deemed not responsible for their actions due to disabilities and such - regardless of what it does to teachers and students. Academically - the state is currently judging progress more by whether the kids are graduating than anything. So a kid that doesn't get a diploma means the school failed. Doesn't matter whether Johnny can spell or if Johnny simply refuses to learn how to spell. Standardized testing should prevent that - except they keep adding loopholes around that also. Additionally, the politics can be insane. There are very few schools that do anything like merit pay to begin with and the internal politics mean that might be irrelevant anyway. Also goes for discipline. Some kids get hammered for certain things. Other kids walk for the same reason. Sometimes simply because the people in charge like that kid. So, to recap, beyond low salary (combined with insane insurance hikes), no discipline, low academic standards, expanded school year and out of school time requirements, politics and more. Gee, why might there be a shortage of teachers? The crazy thing is the state talks about being concerned about teacher shortages, yet they are making the job more difficult and unpleasant. A lot of coaches are flocking to the refineries - not because they don't enjoy coaching and the kids, but because the situation is so much better. Most parents, I believe, are good parents that want the best for their kids and all the kids. I don't think they realize how messed up things are. The bottom of the barrel parents and kids are ruining it for everyone. Things will get better when the good parents realize the corrosion of standards are hurting everyone and they start demanding that their kids be taken more into account than the bad ones.1 point -
