Can we revisit the ridicule that was received when some on this site poked fun when others said HF basketball was hiring a “game changer”? I’ll hang up and listen. Oh and congrats to Coach Rideaux and the Horns! Huge, huge win.5 points -

Great TEAM win tonight on senior night! Lady Hawks move to 26-8 on the season and 11-0 in district behind a career high 31 point game from Asia Wheeler. Delberta Guillory-Smith added 22 and Makenna Henry had 16. The girls shared the ball really well! Proud of our seniors, Kassi Hardy, Delberta Guillory Smith, Asia Wheeler and Imrie Collier!!! These girls have dealt with alot over 4 years! Floods, deaths, hurricanes etc! The score doesnt really reflect it, but kudos to coach DJ Wilson over at WOS. Changing a culture is a hard thing to do.... he has it going in the right direction.3 points -

Great win horns!! I know it’s one loss in district but someone needs to talk about coach Sig and his coaching. If his very very athletic team doesn’t get a steal in full court press they are very bad and lazy on half court defense and give up layup after layup. On offense they don’t run any set plays and you have 3 players who just seem to shoot whenever and from wherever on the court they want. It’s easy to get away with that philosophy when you have a combination of Adams, Mcain, and Bush, but it won’t get them very far with the roster this year. Again, not taking away from coach Tige and the horns and their outstanding game plan. Coach Sig needs to pull the reigns in and get this team to playing like they can if they want to get past the second round. Good luck to both the Horns and the Tigers the rest of the way!! I graduated from Silsbee many moons ago so I think we will squeak it out in a nail bitter vs HJ!!2 points -

Congrats to HF players and the new head coach on a very impressive road win. Imagine if somebody had told you last year that this would happen... like him or not, new coach has already made huge jumps with that program.2 points -
Yup, Super Bowl Parade In HF tomorrow. Congrats to Coach Tigee and the Horns. Great streak by the Tigers. Don’t know of any local team with a Home Win streak like that.2 points

A lot of coaches are good with Xs and Os. All of them should be in my opinion but sadly some aren’t. But the kids don’t care how much you know they care how much you care. And it’s easier to reach kids when they know you care. That’s what makes great coaches1 point

I really didn't see anything wrong with Rideaux's coaching style. He's not any less vocal or loud than our JV coach can be at a lot of times. Some fans just aren't used to that, I guess.1 point

Don't forget, we used to have Travis! I didn't mind him at all. I appreciate teh passion. What I do mind is the refs permitting coaches on the court during play. If it was me they would be so gone so fast it would make their heads spin. Not blaming the coaches because they are passionate guys. It's such a simple fix, "You're outta here and don't ever let me catch you on the court during play again, got it?" And if every ref did it, as they all should, the problem would be nonexistent.1 point

This loss ended a 58 game (on court) district win streak for Silsbee. I thought Silsbee would finally take a loss in district this year ( thought it would be HJ, still could happen). I still think they are the team in district 22-4A. Next year, well not so much. I think Silsbee will be vulnerable next year but they have the realignment to help them with the loss of HJ and HF. Wasn't at the game last night (was in Tenaha for a good one), but from what I was told, HF simply out played Silsbee and deserved the win. Congrats Tigee and the Longhorn team.1 point -

If I were Lumberton or Hardin Jefferson, I'd do the same thing HF did tonight on offense to Silsbee. The Raiders sorta did that in the first game and made it interesting. Tigers really are like a high school version of the Houston Rockets. Small ball and look like world beaters when the 3 is falling and getting easy lay ups. Could lose to almost anyone if neither of those are going our way and we're playing lackluster defense.1 point

Well at least we've denied Hardin Jefferson the chance to give us our first district loss in a long while. Hard to win a game when you can't make any shots. Silsbee rarely stopped HF when they took the time to set up their offense. They'd just drive to the basket and kick it to mainly one player, get a lay up or a foul called. Their point guards did a good job of not giving the ball up for the most part. I can feel that 3rd round playoff loss coming now......if we get that far.1 point

Does PNG have a chance vs Barbers Hill Friday
bullets13 reacted to Hoopster-007 for a topic
Immediately, when I read your comment, "But they play the games for a reason..." my thought went to the boy's side, not the girl's. More often than not, the dominate girls team is going to prevail. In my opinion, those underdog victories usually result from a coach knowing what he or she is doing. Also, my opinion, it's easier to coach up an underdog boys team, than it is a girls'. For example, boys' side, I'm likely to have an equally athletic player on my team that I can match-up with the opponent's best player. Girls' side, who am I going to select to keep up with Carter one-on-one? I believe someone commented earlier about slowing the game down. That will help BH because the few games I've seen, they run out of gas in the 4th quarter. If BH is going to get past game 2 in the playoffs....will require better conditioning. Yes, I agree PNG has a better shot than anyone else in the district, but the district is probably the weakest I've seen it in a long time.1 point -
