Good Luck HJ. I am a Silsbee fan but I really like HJ this year. I think they are a much tougher match-up for Yates than Silsbee this year. If three of the Hawks are hitting from the outside and #22 and #23 are willing to maul the Lions on the inside they might surprise the Lions. I am really impressed with the play of Austin Samatha this year. Good Luck Hawks. I hope you win and then lose before we have to play you later in the tourney.

He played. According max prep he was held to 4 pts. Huffman scoring leader was #40 with 16pts. Hats off to coach Rideaux and Horns. He prepares the players each game for who they will be guarding / their strengths and weakness and will switch his lineup to match up defense wise. Truly think Huffman thought it would be a cake walk like last time eventhough they faced us with our center out sick and our backup center at the time who started mid season starting as our forward sitting out for that game the 1st time around

I haven’t crayola’d them in. I’ve chipped it in granite. It’s like already a memory. Yates hasn’t scored less than 100 since the end of November. But all that running and pressing and high scoring is just window dressing. They could play modest ball control game and still run away with it. You do have to play the games, like stepping on the bases after a home run.

They have SFA at #17 in power rankings. Been getting some votes in AP top 25. One loss and all that goes up in smoke. Lol

I think winning games would be the culture change though. Right now I would imagine kids are playing because of the love of the game and potential scholarship offers. If you can put some pelts on the wall I think you would have kids that come out/become more dedicated just because they want to be part of a winning program. That “filler” is what I think helps to separate our teams from some of the more elite teams in the DFW and Central Texas. Considering the situation he was in I always thought Nelson did a good job at Ozen and to me Ozen was just as tough as some of those HISD jobs. I think it’s a little easier to sell the kids what Nelson would bring versus trying to sell them 0-30. I hope it works out though, we need more powerhouses in this region.
