After i would’ve saw them in that zone I would’ve held the ball up 2-0 . But of course fans wouldn’t understand that strategy and would’ve started yelling play ball .

Green deserves a little more than minimal blame. He should have seen that slow start and nipped that in the bud right then. Is like none one had a sense of urgency until it was to late. But it’s only so much a coach can do, the kids shouldn’t have even been like that in the first place with a do or die game. SC also came out with a hell of a game plan, doing the same thing the team last year did In the playoffs when we lost, make us shooters.

More embarrassed than bitter. My school district hasn't always been the best athletically, but it's always been a good school district that did things right and we always put academics first. There has always been talent at HF, but we've missed on coaching hires basically since Jeff Keener. This latest hire is a miss too. Those transfers haven't always lived in HF and the new ones won't either and everyone knows it. I'd rather lose with our kids and coaches who do it right than openly break the rules and then brag about how great they are. Nobody is buying it. I'm old enough to know that winning isn't everything. It's not bravery to point out something is wrong. For what it's worth I've made my opinion known to the principal, AD, and superintendent at HF so I'm not hiding behind an anonymous message board.

Congratulations to Silsbee! You Tiger fans are awful spoiled to be nitpicking a team that is going to the regional tournament...again. One will eliminate the other because they are in the same region. The toughest games Yates faces are against that winner or Argyle. Faith and Argyle played to a tie and Faith won by 2 in overtime. So any of those 3 are indeed capable of giving Yates a good game. Now that Liberty Hill has been upset I don't know about Region 4. But I still think that Lions are that much better. Wise knows he can't roll up those state tourney teams as easily has he's handled Region 3 and he'll have his guys ready for a 4 quarter war. They'll be forced into a more conventional game but they can handle it. I'm pretty confident that the Region 3 teams that are getting steamrolled will at least have the satisfaction of knowing they lost to the eventual state champs.

Yea, I see your point. We're the other big name in Region 3 even though we are rebuilding and unranked. They'll want to rub our noses in our mediocrity. Well, Silsbee ISD has a total enrollment of 2928. HISD has 214,175. Since HISD has open enrollment that means Yates has 73 times as many kids to draw from for a basketball team. If we handicap on that basis, if Silsbee scores 70 points then Yates would need to score 5121 points to be considered the winner.

A shot clock is not needed. Some of you folk need to go watch some 2A and 1A basketball.

Lets hope so. The way HS sports is now most kids want to play ball no matter what sport they're playing. The more kids a school signs, chances of more players coming out increases. Look at BC for example, labeled a baseball school because so many kids just play baseball because they have a chance of playing at the next level. I'd be willing to bet if BC got all of the baseball kids on the football field they would be better. Side note, Johnny Dishon and younger brother both played football at BC, 1 went to LSU and the other to Ole Miss for baseball. BRING BACK THE MULTI SPORT ATHLETE AND ATHLETICS WILL BECOME BETTER.
