Texas high school football coaches brace for delayed, interrupted 2020 season

Can’t say I agree with that either. If someone who doesn’t want to be there and otherwise would have chose home schooling gets sick the whole thing is going to blow up badly. At least with our situation we have weighed the risk vs reward and decided to go all in on the Senior season but if something bad happens it’s on us, our choice.4 points -

Cuz everyone on here realizes that BOTH sides of the aisle have been and will continue to be self-serving POS’s, right? None of them could give a rat’s ass about any of our well-being. Too much money in politics to be made for us to begin being a thought in a politician’s mind. Term limits anyone? Even the best and the brightest will be turned by greed. You are NOTHING to them. Once you read this, start over and read it again, please.3 points -

If you get a chance to play the #1 team in the state, you take it. Playing these Silsbee teams the last several years showed us where we stood relative to the elite teams in the state and that's an opportunity we didn't want to pass up. We've also got a home game schedule with Wheatley on January 2. Really excited/hopeful to play this year!1 point -
I'm not sure NetCat isn't right. I, like you, had assumed that as they were starting on time that there would be 2 scrimmages. But look at the UIL calendar: [Hidden Content]1 point

Setx Fan, I see you can’t debunk what I posted. There is nothing deceptive about the fact that there was a larger percentage of Democrats that voted against or opposed the 1964 civil rights act than Republicans. These are the percentages of who voted for approval of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Nothing deceptive about these numbers. This is fact. Democrats Republicans House 63%. 80% 153 of 244 136 of 171 Senate 69%. 82% 46 of 67 27 of 33 I think I look REAL at this point. Your the one that’s grasping for straws.1 point

I don't see them waiting. Other than losing their Week 1 game, this doesn't affect those schools all that much. They'll just be playing 9 games instead of 10. And the 4A schools are already jammed up by HISD's order of no extracurriculars until mid October anyway. Remember, that order was already in place when the UIL announced its schedule earlier this week.1 point -

The virus will runs its course regardless what we do. Protect the high risk individuals which is very small percentage of the population. The high risk individuals know who they are. Then let the healthy population go about living there lives. March,April, and May is the first time in US history that we quarantined an entire healthy population. Personally I didn’t think it made sense.1 point -

I do understand it’s different situations for different folks. God blessed my family and I to be able to do the online study for the two school aged kids. I agree with you though. The options are there if you want to send your kids. Heck, one district, PNGISD would be right up your alley as they are forcing your hand.1 point

Don’t forget the Black African Families that sold their own kids into slavery along with the Black Africans that sold the slaves. The Democrat Party is the Jim Crow Party and the KKK Party might as well own it because it’s True. Might as well go after Margaret Sanger too who is the founder of Planned Parenthood who the Democrat Party supports whole heartily. 400,000 blacks babies are aborted every year. She believed in eugenics which is what the Nazi’s believed in to purify a race. Matter of fact the Democrats favorite candidate Hillary Clinton gladly accepted the Margaret Sanger Award in 2009. The Democrat Party must be Super Proud of their Racist History!1 point

GOP Rep. Gohmert Introduces Resolution To Ban Democratic Party!

Keep lying to yourself about how great Democrats have been for minorities. Look who stood on doorsteps to block students from entering school, look who turned the dogs out during protests, look who promoted welfare to destroy the family unit, look who promoted planned parenthood which has basically been genocide among minorities over decades. Even after all this, they take your vote for granted, latest proof being what Biden said “ 'If you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Trump, then you ain't black”.1 point -
When You Destory Statues, This Is What Happens Next!
SmashMouth reacted to Realville for a topic
Since the left ( Democrats) thinks tearing down statues and changing names because of their offensive history is needed TX Rep. Louie Gohmert has called for the Democrats to change their name due to their ties to Jim Crow, KKK, etc. As outlined in the resolution, a great portion of the history of the Democratic Party is filled with racism and hatred. Since people are demanding we rid ourselves of the entities, symbols, and reminders of the repugnant aspects of our past, then the time has come for Democrats to acknowledge their party’s loathsome and bigoted past, and consider changing their party name to something that isn’t so blatantly and offensively tied to slavery, Jim Crow, discrimination, and the Ku Klux Klan. As the country watches violent leftists burn our cities, tear down our statues and call upon every school, military base and city street to be renamed, it is important to note that past atrocities these radicals claim to be so violently offensive were largely committed by members in good standing of the Democratic Party. Whether it be supporting the most vile forms of racism or actively working against Civil Rights legislation, Democrats in this country perpetuated these abhorrent forms of discrimination and violence practically since their party’s inception. To avoid triggering innocent bystanders by the racist past of the Democratic Party, I would suggest they change their name. That is the standard to which they are holding everyone else, so the name change needs to occur.”1 point -

Many (if not most) fire departments stage when they get medical calls and will not go in until the police make sure it is safe. Perhaps the police should return the favor to the second responders.1 point

Just curious if you have any kids in high school? I have a daughter who will be a senior this year. If school and sports are shut down it will greatly effect where she goes to college, scholarship opportunities, if she continues to play sports, and many other aspects of her life. I also was very close to several students who were students this past spring when things go shut down. You don’t get that year back. It’s easy as adults to dismiss how important school, prom, graduation, and youth and high school sports are. They shape what kind of adults we become. There has already been harm done to students, athletes, schools, and colleges that will take a long while to recover. If things continue to be negatively effected then the damage done may never be able to be fixed. Views on this tend to be based on how it effects you personally. Since this started almost all negative effects for me and all the people I know closely have been from the lockdowns not the virus. My wife’s uncle spent a couple days in the hospital with COVID and he was extremely high risk but recovered and is fine. If you continue to take away freedoms from people your leading them into a dark place. I don’t mind the social distancing and even the mask wearing but I can’t see shutting down schools and the economy any more unless you are ok with starting a major change in America as we know it. It’s been said over and over but it’s true. The cure can’t be worse than the disease. The country has been through numerous crisis in the past including pandemics and never reacted this way. I feel like people should be responsible enough to decide for themselves the path. If enough people had been adversely effected by the disease you wouldn’t see them filling every restaurant to capacity, wanting schools open, or sports to resume.1 point
