  1. Correct, the high school, Dan R. Hooks Stadium, Ronnie Anderson Park and several other facilities were damaged. Specifically at the stadium, the scoreboard was blown down and goal posts were twisted. Plus in an article (I believe with the Enterprise), Cornel Thompson indicated that there are still players that are evacuated to San Antonio and Austin and didn't know when they would be back. In fact, the district has closed for all of next week and said they would make an announcement on when they would return. The power may be on, but things are far from normal in Orange, TX.

  2. Before you speak on it go do a ride along. Better yet enroll in the academy and become one. a lot of the times you have less than a second to make a judgement call when it’s involving life or death. You want them to protect and serve and put their life in harms way all the while you want them to be seen as a civilian. shut your mouth and go badge up.....your tune would change real quick even more so now

  3. I'm just proud the Mustangs are still playing ball. I do remember a few years ago their numbers were so low they were concerned about having enough for a team. Even though we're district opponents, proud for the Burkeville Mustangs!

  11. Then that family member should have sought help for their mentally incompetent family member. I know. I have a brother with a very serious mental problem. He’s 28 and under 24 hour surveillance. He can’t drive a vehicle, touch a firearm or use anything more potent than a butter knife(and that’s under supervision). We even shave his face. It’s for his protection as well as others. He actually attends classes at LIT. A “handler” is with him the whole time. He’s very intelligent...he just has a mental deficiency. My sister and her husband take care of him since our Mom passed away 9-1/2 years ago. If my sister passes before one of our siblings, then one of us will assume that role as his guardian, protector, and to a point, captor. We all love him and want nothing but what’s in his best interest. If he happened to do something somehow that put a person’s life in grave danger and an officer killed him, we would all be totally devastated. But I can guarantee you that cop doesn’t know his/our situation. I would freely and wholly let that officer know that we are sorry he had to be put in that position. I can tell you, it’s tough if you have to kill someone, no matter the reason. Freedom for the mentally incompetent comes at a risk of harm to others and themselves. Furthermore, I’m insulted that YOU and others can use the mentally incompetent as a crutch to further your misguided hate message to our heroes in Blue who risk their lives EVERY time they walk out the door. Damn you.

  12. Yeah, Craus is real good. From what I understand the Eagles got some real good young players too. Should be interesting to see how they shape up. Woodville may be a sleeper that could shock some people. We’ll see...

  13. I pointed it out since it seems that the news narrative is that we need to glorify thugs. The pressure that law officers are under on a daily basis is not shown enough. If a kindergartner can listen to the command of a teacher, a full grown man should be able to do the same with a officer. You can’t seem to comprehend that fact.

  14. The people who complain about cops need to put on the uniform, conduct themselves in the manner they expect from all other cops, then walk or cruise a beat. We wouldn’t have to worry about hearing from them again as they would be dead.
    1 point
  15. Thats because there is a much higher likelihood that the cop was attempting to enforce the law, which is worth a lot. Is it, somehow, unfair, that the legal system tends to be more forgiving for those who enforce the law as opposed to those who break it?

  16. It looks like Brandon Craus’s presence is already being felt in Woodville..!!! Don’t know anything about Karnes City (any good or not), but Craus has a reputation for lighting it up offensively. He’s done it everywhere he’s ever been where he had control of the offense... Dayton (old Dayton, not modern Dayton), Groveton. He did some awesome things at Groveton, just costly turnovers got him in the playoffs a few times. I hope Woodville keeps improving from last year and then makes some deep runs into the playoffs. They’ve got some really talented kids working through the program. If Woodville has any sense, they’ll just turn Craus loose and sit back and let him light up the scoreboard. Go Woodville...!!

  25. Yes sir, they've done a lot...especially when you see just how bad everything was destroyed. And I wouldn't worry about your Rebs either NetCat. It's been rough on everyone and I know a lot of the Evadale kids were affected as well. From what I hear, Warren has a legit group. I'll probably catch some flak for that from that from all the big school folks on here but you know what I mean. 😊

  26. ur absolutely correct. Some really don't know how bad it is at the high school and I know some of the kids are just now getting back bcz of power. And the team hasn't practiced in a week.

  29. Anyone in 9-5A D1 is not an option. 2 bye weeks just in case a week is needed to make up a district game, which is the reason for only 2 non-district games instead of 3.

  30. Appears some don’t realize how bad Orange was hit. I’ve lived in this area for 75 years, and will admit I don’t remember a hurricane virtually becoming a hugh tornado. Orange with severe damage, and 20 miles down I-10 in Beaumont, relatively minor damage. Very uncharacteristic.

  35. And after seeing what I saw from our team I would say that we will win all our games this season until we get to Crockett... It will be a toss up and they definitely want revenge against us especially how we handled them on the basketball court earlier this year

    Lumberton at Silsbee

I am very scared for the Tiger secondary. They need to get much better very soon. I can see Lumberton giving them some fits with their passing game which is much better than Jasper's. Silsbee will have to control the line and get pressure. Silsbee will have to get their passing game going. Lumberton will stack the box and dare Silsbee to throw.

  41. I got to Lumberton at the end of the 3rd quarter with Coldspring up 20-17. Trojans scored early in 4th to go up 27-17 but Lumberton answered right back with a score and two point conversion to make it 27-25. Was about 7 minutes left in game at this time. CS drove down to Lumberton 3 yard line but was stopped on downs with around 2;30 left in game. (not sure why CS decided to go for it on 4th down instead of kicking FG to force Lumberton to score TD). Raiders had only 1 timeout left and needed to get to at least the Trojan 25 yard line for a game winning FG attempt. Lumberton picked up a first down but then took a terrible sack which forced them to use their final timeout. 3 incompletions later the Trojans took over on downs and kneeled the clock out. From the one quarter I watched, I was surprised a bit with Coldspring. They are better than I thought they would be. But, I also thought Lumberton wasn't defending the double wing offense like they should. To be successful the defensive line really have to sacrifice themselves and take out the oline by diving thru the gaps and allowing the linebackers to make the plays, disrupting the blocking schemes. Also you have to take some gambles with run blitzes at times to get penetration in the backfield to disrupt the timing of the play. I really didn't see any of that from the Raider defense in the 4th. Coldspring did a very good job carrying out their fakes and staying with their blocks and the backs showed good discipline in waiting on the blocks. #20 for CS is a hoss!! Going to keep my eye on this young man. Lumberton's offense does look potent. Boykin is definitely a dual threat QB. Be interesting to see how they do against a team that has more pass pressure. Coldspring played more coverage than putting pressure on QB. Glad I got to watch 1 quarter of football last night.
