I think all our schools in the area have had alot to deal with (covid, storms, etc). I'm proud of all the schools for dressing out and playing with what you got. One thing is true "We are South East Texas Strong!"

And for what it's worth. Being a back up at the 6A level is totally different than being a back up at the 4A DII level. Based on the highlights of the scrimmage, Briscoe looked pretty good. Had he stayed in Silsbee, I could see him pushing Foster for playing time. Particularly with how Foster has played so far.

To be accurate, it was a family move back to Beaumont that has Briscoe at West Brook. Really nothing to do with athletics. Completely a family situation that is much better for him from what I was told.

In a interview one time, a reporter ask him about give about giving 100% everyday and he said " I'M NUMBER 12 SO I HAVE TO GIVE 112% EVERYDAY"

I think you're right about the Eagles being a good 3A team, but I'm not sure that WOS won't have problems out of the gate. I think it'll be a close game that really doesn't indicate what either team is capable of this year.

Vidor Freshman was winning 38 to 7 against LCM when I left in the 4th Qtr. Vidor JV score was 40 to 27 over Bay City.

Sometimes you just have to have a few good athletes.

I shot a friend’s FN at the range and hit with it instantly. Very sweet. This one had a 21 round mag. Almost got tired of firing it. Lol. My favorite gun is my S&W 686 (5” barrel) an old standby that I’m pretty good with. I just got the S&W TRR8 .357 mag. I can hit with it but not as well as with the 686. Back then, SETXsports did a Friday Night Scoreboard show. Started around 10:30pm and lasted till 1am. That night, we did get some scores out but the vast majority of the talk that night was this tragedy. It was surreal. Also, I got the privilege of broadcasting the first WO-S game after this tragedy. It was a home game vs. Kirbyville. What I remembered the most about that game was when the Mustangs were on offense first, the players all kneeled and held up the numbers 1 and 2 with their fingers, then intentionally took a delay of game penalty to remember their fallen teammate. Kirbyville head coach Jack Alverez declined the penalty. Great class on both sides.

I hear Dayton picked up a couple of “free agents” from New Caney. Both were good ball players and will help Dayton.

WO-S will not beat Newton by 50... Newton has pride and they will play us hard. Coach T. would not let the score get that high against them out of respect.

I played for EC in the 75 and 76 game. Never forget the game in 75. Twisted my ankle bad then I ran the wrong route on a pass and Ricky Luquette intercepted it and ran it back about 70 yds for a TD for Lumberton. I got so tired of hearing the band play The Raiders Go Rolling Along!!
