It’s not just setx. I mean who in the hell in their right mind wants to go out there and take that abuse for next to nothing money wise. Those guys can go call peewee games on Saturday mornings and make the same money, and have absolutely no pressure. The bad part about it is it’s only going to get worse.

Teams with a losing record should not make the playoffs. If you only have two teams with winning records in your district, then you only send two. The other district teams just get a bye to the second round. Going to the playoffs with a losing record is like rewarding them for just being in the district. Let's just give them all a participation trophy. Wish the UIL would go back to just two teams going to the playoffs.

I had two Huffman O-lineman tell me after the game, “Best D-line they faced this year. By far”. they faced a D-1 senior NT at Needville and the NT for Splendora is highly recruited at center but he’s a monster on the D-line too.

The few successful teams that run the Slot T have one thing Vidor doesn’t, and that’s a good passing game. Since the kids have been running this O since Jr High, they need to start developing a real passing attack out of it. If you watched many of the Vidor games this year, stop and think how many times they had receivers wide open with no completions. Everyone knows you can’t rely strictly on the run. If you add a good passing game, that offense is as good as any. But that’s just my opinion.

So each individual transfer isn't based on its own circumstances? The number of move ins shouldn't matter. That would be ridiculous.

Well it has come down to this, winner take all for a playoff spot. I didn’t think either team would be in this situation, for different reasons but here we are. Vidor or Lumberton to represent our lowly district, as a 3 or 4 seed to face a tough Lindale or Kilgore team in the first round. Who ya got? I think the Pirates have the bigger, better athletes but Lumberton just might want it bad enough to pull out the W at home. I just hope we get some decent referees and the players give it their all because this will be the last football game ever played for the seniors on one of these teams.

The Pirate Defense is the best defense in there district. if by chance they get the offense back on track and cut down on penalties they may have a chance to go two deep in playoffs. but the running-backs have to step it up.

That's all I'm saying in this instance. They may have an argument for the others as one played JV due to UIL rules, but denying a kid coming from a private school to the school he's zoned to is a head scratcher to me and all I'm getting is "the trend" which is understandable if he was coming from another ISD school or just moving into the district but that's not the case at all

What’s worse, the DEC is saying that if your kid wants to play varsity athletics, he has to go to private school. There is not even a public school option for him. This can’t be right. And if so, may be the dumbest DEC decision I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen some pretty idiotic ones.

His daddy been telling people for over a year that he was goin to Fannett to play for Tigee. Thats why it's seen as an athletic move.

I like that opinion, and I wholeheartedly agree with it. I think most of us are very worried about the future of this country, if he doesn’t.

Those of you making a totality of the circumstances argument (I.e., they’ve had too many transfers and we are going to put a stop to it), kindly remove your heads from your behinds so you can breathe. IF what is being represented here is true (the kid lives in HFISD and is transferring from Tekoa to HF...private school to his zoned public school), then the DEC absolutely butchered this one. I have no independent knowledge of this particular kid so that’s why I say “if.” But again, “if” that is true and the DEC voted against this kid based on what they believe may be occurring at HF, despite the evidence for this kid to the contrary, they should be very, very ashamed of themselves. And maybe reflect on why they got into the profession in the first place. Just sayin...

At this point I couldn’t tell ya😩 I would like to think BH has dropped their turd this year, wiped and ready to move forward😂. This is a very important game for both teams, if PNG wins they are pretty much garunteed a 1 or 2 seed going into the playoffs. If BH wins their hope is still alive to try for the 2 seed ,but have to get by Nederland . Good news for BH is that we have PNG and NED at home his year, so the home crowd will be behind you. Should be a good game, but If PNG comes to town with what Crosby threw at us on defense then were in trouble.

I personally think kids should play high school sports where they live . It eliminates chasing programs and the attempts to follow coaches or programs. If a family decides to go to a private institution in search of a better education I can certainly respect that. If said transfer allows you to play for your dad that’s even better. My question would be did the academics suddenly deteriorate at said institution ? Does dad no longer coach where the young man attended school? Has anything changed at the UIL district where the player resides ? I personally don’t care one way or the other but I can see where there would be questions. I will say it was a lot more fun watching HF last year than it has been in the past few years.

It probably was the same school that protested when their player left for West Brook his junior season a couple years back. Never-mind all the Beaumont kids that transferred into their program over the years. Smh...

This is a no brainer. Silsbee beat Lumberton 56-14 and according to some Vidor fans, Vidor would beat Silsbee. So..........

Maybe the DEC wanted a reason for now wanting to attend Hamshire-Fannett. Look at it from their perspective. Student attends an academy for most of his adolescent life. Most parents send their children to such schools for the academics or environment. They chose it to be better than public schools which is their right. Now the young man chooses to attend a public school who just happens to have a new coach. Why wasn't HF considered before this coach arrived? Has the academics and environment at the private school changed? Have they dismantled their athletic program? These and other questions is what the DEC wants to know about. Based on the answers they received and the research of those answers, it was deemed a transfer for athletic purposes. Based on the recent activity, I can see where a DEC would have red flags. I don't think it is personal and I surely don't think it's racial. I know the coaches and AD's in that district. That's not their motivation. And to answer your question above, I would have allowed the transfer.

He was the best Bond. I'm going to have to get all those out and watch them, it's been a while. Sad to lose him.

So is Tekoa my friend. It's a private charter school with no affiliation with UIL. That's what makes this interesting to me because of that very assessment. I've never seen a kid get denied to play varsity at the achoolhes zoned for coming from a private school.

I watched the game on my computer. Honestly, I didn't see much difference between the athletes from Vidor and Huffman, my opinion. And also, I didn't see much difference between Vidor's athletes and Splendora's. So, again, it boils down to the coach. If the Vidor faithful is satisfied year in and year out with the product being presented then nothing will change. And if they are OK with paying good money for this product then that's O\K too. But don't be disappointed when teams of equal talent make runs deep in the playoffs.

I thought it was iffy but it was no different than the coverage the whole game. It’s inconsistent. That’s the issue I see. If they call it loose or tight, I can live with it. Just be consistent.

Ha! Yessir make no mistake a lot of those crazy parents are living in dream land thinking their little babies are going to be in the NFL or MLB; reality starts to set in a few years later when their little baby is still white, small, and slow.

We ran into the same thing at Livingston, I thought that may have just been a bad crew from up that way. Then we had the local crew last night who sucked just as bad, if not worse. I know it’s a hard job and not many people want to do it but come on, this is a game changing call here. It was the ref on the far sideline, he casually dropped a flag at the feet of the lead blocker but he had great position on the defender. Plus the QB was long gone by then, not sure what he was thinking there. The ref on that side had several questionable calls but he wouldn’t throw the flag where you could see a penalty call. He’d just drop it at his feet and nobody even knew there was a penalty until they stopped the game.

The sad thing is that you can turn these refs in and nothing would ever happen. I know one thing officiating at the end of the year at Jerry World is not in their future.

Dude that PI was ridiculous, I’ve never seen that called when the defender has better position and a better chance at the ball than the receiver. That one penalty was a big contributor to their touchdown drive after the line drive punt from hell.

Sorry to contradict you, but close to the end of the run, one guy leaning on the fence was holding a cup of coffee. 😂🤣😂 You want another call - pass interference on Vidor. Defender was right under the pass leaping into the air for the interception and the receiver ran into him. On the other side, they measured Vidor & I guess it wasn’t a first, then measured again & it was a first down. More measurements last night than all the other games together.

Somewhat so, they deserve it. The officiating has been beyond belief the last two games. You have to overcome but we couldn’t do it. So a lot of that blame falls on us. What is your prediction for next week L-Train, I’m interested to know?

I'm a believer that when you win, you keep your nose down and when you lose you keep your head up. Woodville had a very impressive offensive line that gave the QB time to throw most of the time. The QB had a good arm and the receivers had several impressive catches. Clean up the fumbles, interceptions and it's a close game. Keep your heads up Woodville because there was some definitely good talent on the field and if you can clean that up, I think you can make a good run in the play offs !!!!
