Lindale 29 Vidor 13/FINAL
exsoftballplayer and 4 others reacted to piratevillain for a topic
Just got back from that beautiful scenic roof of beautiful east texas. Here's my take on the game tonight. Lindale was very good as expected. Their first drive they set the tone early with no huddles, quick passes, and heavy dose on with their RB #22. Vidor forced them to play our game which was run the clock and run the football, I was surprised at how hard our backs ran, probably the hardest I've seen them run all season. Pirates didn't get behind the chain too many times tonight and if they did, they were able to get 3rd/4th and manageable, and I think we gave Lindale a good scare pretty much all night til late in the 4th quarter. Defense looked good, and didn't give up too many big plays except #4 their WR who basically mossed two DBs and their #3 who was constantly open on slant routes. But the LBs and DBs, took the challenge and they were not afraid to come up, hit and make plays, they played physical tonight on rush plays. Besides a handful of plays, the secondary was decent at coverage, didn't give up long TD passes and kept almost everything in front of them. Defensive line, this unit is good every single week and tonight was no different. The first series with Lindale and their #4, they weren't scared to run between the tackles and he ran HARD. But the D-line and LBs held that dude in check most of the game. That kid is a hard runner but the Pirate defenders handled him we and wrapped up so he didn't get many YAC (yards after contact). I think the longest run may have been just 25 yards?! But after the game my nephew Jordan told me that Lindale was quickest offense that he's facesd since he's been on varsity. He was very pleased on how they contained the Baylor commit RB, he said that their RB only had 50 yard rushing at halftime and thinks only had 90 yards total at the end of the game. (I'll try and find the accurate total later) But anyways, I am more than proud of how the Pirates came and competed tonight, and Vidor gave them all they wanted and gave them some good scares til mid of the 4th quarter. Great season Pirates, yall played with hell of a lot of heart and left it all on the field. As a fan, it's all I can ask for. Already can't wait til next season, especially since it'll be my nephew's last year! If BYB, doesn't do scoring updates, I guess I'll be the one to take over.😉 Go Pirates! 🏴☠️5 points -

Little side story. The Lindale audio broadcasters, biased as you’d expect, still gave Vidor a lot of kudos- on running hard & tackling. The last Vidor TD, Vidor returned the KO to the Lindale 37. From there, they used a no huddle offense, running every play, for a TD. One of the announcers, a retired Coach, said, “Never in all my years of football, have I seen a hurry up, no huddle offense, running every play”. And it worked. Might be something to incorporate occasionally.3 points -

Thanks for the love everybody! I truly mean that. This is a great group of young men who have a Coaching staff that works as hard as they do. My son is a Senior and honestly, with Covid and Hurricanes...this year has been an emotional roller coaster, for sure. You never knew when it could all be shutdown. I'm proud of these young men for playing each snap like it could be their last...I'm not a fan...I am a very proud Dad and all these boys are like my kiddos. The 'Lil Red Machine Rolls!!!!!3 points -

I know it's been said many times but I just can't get over how the once and proud mighty LaMarque Cougar football program has fallen so far. I would say they are not even a shell of what they used to be. Lost last night to my Silsbee Tigers 50-6. I know there are a lot of factors involved but dang. It really is sad.2 points -
24 Points given up in 4 district games? Rut roh The Cougars play defense. They won by how much? Cougars rolling through 12-5a D2 The fumble heard round the Triangle! Nederland coughs up game ending fumble as Dayton wins on a fumble recovery as time expires. Friday the 13th? Spells bad luck for the NDN's , 4 picks in loss to Kingwood Park.2 points

Nothing last forever. Just look at Converse Judson, Stephenville, or some of the Aldine schools. Most of those schools are at least still decent sometimes though.2 points

CENTER OC JAMES REYES HIRED AS NEW LUMBERTON AD/HC
Boneyard Boys and one other reacted to AggiesAreWe for a topic
From AD/HC Chris Babin: Sixteen months ago, my wife and I made the challenging decision to move our son to Houston in order to allow him to pursue his gifts and passion for dance. We made this decision for our son, putting aside my personal needs while prioritizing our son’s future. My son is flourishing; however, as a devoted father and husband, I must reunite with my family. With this being said, I have resigned from my position as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Lumberton ISD. I step aside at this early point in the school year to give LISD the opportunity to find a new leader of the Raider Athletic Program. I do not resign under any pressure; this decision was mine alone. Dr. Tipton has served as a great mentor and means of support through this challenging year. I write this letter to the community of Lumberton to issue a sincere “Thank you”. I became a resident of Lumberton at the age of ten. As a Raider athlete, I played in 55 football games, ran in 40 track meets, and lifted in 27 powerlifting meets. As an employee at Lumberton, I coached in nearly 300 football games, 100 softball games, 60 powerlifting meets, and 60 track meets. When I became the leader of the Raider Athletic Program in 2015, my ultimate goal was to create an overall athletic program that the Lumberton community could be proud of. With a focus on character, class, work ethic, and toughness, I approached every day of my tenure here with intensity and passion. I can proudly state that my time as the athletic director in Lumberton has forged countless positive relationships with athletes, parents, and community members; I value these relationships most of all. I depart this district grateful for the opportunity to have impacted your son or daughter. Raider colors will always run through my veins. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your lives. -Chris Babin2 points -

Neither party represents us anyway. So we should snuff out every chance they have for reelection. We always talk about choosing the lesser of two evils. Man he is something else. The team he plays for “Sizzle” is named for Terrell Suggs. Suggs nephew Jalen played with Chet up until this year and is now a freshman at Gonzaga. But as good as Jalen is, Chet was the man. Saw him go a 4 game stretch in Atlanta summer before last where he missed like a total of 4 shots over 4 games (and he shoots from everywhere). And he blocks everything around the basket. Kid is special for sure.1 point

I may be showing my age, but I remember when La Marque was a pretty stout (what is now) 6A school. Like many areas, the La Marque area has experienced a steady decline in population. As Soulja noted, last night, they are also facing the problem of having their talent poached by growing schools in the area (e.g, Dickinson).1 point -
