Tiger fan here. Not here to flame the Crosby faithful. It is safe to say neither of us really know our opponent on Friday. I have posted on Smoaky.com that I am predicting a 21 point win by the Tigers. I see similar predictions by Crosby fans the other way. Let me tell you my impression of the Tigers. I have followed Texas High since 1998. I watched there run to the 5A state championship in 2002, followed by a state semi-finalist in 2003, and a regional finalist in 2004. This is the best team since 2006. The strength of the Tigers are their Defensive and Offensive lines. The defensive line has arguably the best set of defensive ends in the state. Clayton Smith #10 is a 6-5, 220#, 4* commitment to Oklahoma. His is rated the #2 outside linebacker in the nation and the #7 player in Texas. He has a motor and is an efficient tackler. His bookend DE is Derrick Brown is a 6-4, 220# junior. Rivals has him as a 3* and #59 in the 2022 class. The inside tackles seem to get a good push and can disrupt the passing plays and keep blockers from getting to the linebackers. Secondary is solid. They are hard to evaluate as the DL puts so much on the QB their passes are often hurried. The key for Crosby is holding the off field push our DL. The offensive line is solid. They had their worst game against Lake Creek. However as the game wore on, they took control of the line. They have provided good protection on passes and opened holes on run plays. I think three are in excess of 300#, one 285#, and peewee is 265#. For the first two games, the Tigers rotated QBs. Then the coaching staff made McHenry #12, a junior, the stating QB and moved Cellers #5 to WR. McHenry has been completing approximately 65% of his passes and Cellers is his big play receiver. Cellers is an excellent athlete and has committed to Texas Tech in baseball. I think he has caught 15 TD passes. Other receivers run good routes and have good hands. On 3rd down watch for Clayton Smith to line up as WR with his 6-5 frame. Decision time ... do you double Cellers or Smith. Right now the running attack is led by our #3 running back - Witcher #13. Our #1 running back had a concussion approximately a month ago and has been seeing limited action. I’m not saying anything your coaches won’t see. Hopefully this will help you in watching the game. It is my understanding the game will be live-streamed at texarkanagameday.com if Crosby doesn’t have a livestream.

Fun fact, my old man was a big part of that 76-77 team that went to the Quarter Finals for Longview pine tree, he just posted his letterman on facebook reliving the old glory days. In my opinion Texas High is much like fort bend Marshall, having a great record with little to no wins over quality teams besides Pine tree who just won over A&M consolidated. I wouldn’t be outraged if Biden beat Trump, but Biden winnng due to fraud and cheating really pushes my buttons. The only thing worse is the fact, despite the mathematical anomalies, no one wants to verify the election. Again, before some liberal responds with, “They did a recount”, recounting does not expose fraud. It might expose someone being inept, but that’s about it. Unless/until, a complete voting audit is done, in one of the States with questionable results, most conservatives will never believe this election was fair. Which brings up all the sworn affidavits by Poll Watchers. If no one cares, and that appears to be the case, why even have Poll Watchers? We might as well anoint the Democratic candidate as President, & not bother with an election between parties. Anyone with any sense should realize how dangerous having one Party forever in control is.

I’ve watched a few highlight videos on MaxPreps, looking for weaknesses. Thought I saw one of their student managers drop a water bottle on the sidelines. Not sure how that’ll help Lindale though. But Lindale surprised me with their comeback grit against LBJ. I think they’ll leave it all on the field, but sometimes your “all” just ain’t good enough. Argyle will have to be very generous to keep Lindale in the game, and only 5 INT’s? Durn, that’s intimidating. But there’s one X factor that could help Lindale. It’s 2020, and in my 75 years, this year has been the absolutely, for sure, this ain’t no 🐂💩, strangest year in my lifetime.

The Dawg defense has an opportunity to show the entire state just how really special they are on the biggest stage. I believe Kip 6ft 3in 195 pounds (number 5) we be one of the nations top linebackers by the end of his senior year. He is the heart of a defense that has totally dominated every team they have faced. The Dawg D line pounded Gilmer in the first meeting and had the QB running for his life. I believe Gilmer coaches will try and get the ball out of his hands a lot quicker when passing. The Dawg secondary have 23 interceptions because they play like wide receivers, always looking for the ball. They are special because they can fly and will hit like linebackers. The D linemen have a super fast first step when the ball is snapped and have put a lot of pressure on QB’s and running backs. The linebackers run sideline to sideline and they are angry when the get to the ball. Definitely the fastest defense the Dawgs have ever had. If The Dawg offense plays sound fundamental football they will win. Cannot turn the ball over multiple times against a very good Gilmer team. At the end of the regular season Texas High was one of the few teams in Region 3 I assumed would beat the Coogs. But after watching them against Whitehouse, Jacksonville and (most recently) Lake Creek, I don't think they will beat Crosby. Speed, speed, speed... that's factor #1 in Crosby's favor. Plus, even with that massive OL they seem unable to stop pressure from being applied to their QB which Crosby will have a feast if they allow our Defense to get in the backfield. TxHigh QB also seems to always throw to whatever Wr the play designed for. He doesn't use his progressions at all! The brightest spot I seen on their Offense is the RB #13. He's a positive yrd runner that runs up field. Besides him no other player stood out as a problem on their Offense . Crosby 49 Texas High 24

Manvel is not a slouch team. They have one of the top programs in the state. Playing them is like playing North Shore. Remember BU didn't come in at the top spot in district also. They did show improvement from last year with a lot of underclassmen playing. Congrats to the players for their season. We look for even more success next year.

Pine Tree I dont believe is a very good team. Their district is pretty weak and I’m very surprised at their OT win over Consolidated. BH played Whitehouse that does pretty good in that district in round 2 of last year and won by 3 scores. Ned will ya e the advantage on defense and coaching. I see another good win for the bulldogs!

The UIL cutoff numbers is responsible for winners and losers every reclassification. I know that, and have argued that very point. However, perception is reality. To the mob (parents and fans), the only things that matters are playing time and wins. A coach that goes 8-2 with garbage competition and some decent kids is a hero while a coach that goes 2-8 in a gauntlet with no players deserves to be fired. You’re not saying anything I don’t know. Why do you think I get ridiculed when I say things like, “WOS can’t get out of the region when Carthage is in it”? I’m bashed by the locals for even mentioning stuff like that. This particular topic, he’s relatively more successful (on paper) than his predecessors. The resume doesn’t include strength of schedule.

And why is Lancaster #1 with a losing record...Do wins and losses not matter anymore??
