If your interpretation of the words, “audit the mail-in votes”, is the same as “overturn the popular vote”, you might want to consider a lawsuit against your college professors. And you folks make fun of TX A&M? Since our institutions of higher learning have neglected in their duties, I suggest you Google the word “audit”. I’ve been an advocate for a voting audit for several months, based on the law of probability. Since the number of total votes cast were way out of proportion to past elections, it would appear to be a logical course of action. Big businesses & banks, have (usually) annual audits by an internal audit group. But if an anomaly shows up, something big out of the ordinary like out of the law of probability, it would call for an impromptu audit. That’s what happened in our 2020 election. I will give you good on one thing. I knew that Dem politicians feared an audit, but your post is proof that the average Dem fears one just as much. Even more proof that an audit is needed. Even Dem voters know the election was won with chicanery. No one who has nothing to hide fears an audit. Not so for those who had their hands in the cookie jar.4 points

+1000! May I also add that with a team as young as Silsbee, they will likely get better each and every round of the playoffs. Some of their best players have never even experienced playing in a playoff game. So hypothetically, playing a Yates in round 2 vs round 4 or 5 could make a huge difference in potential outcomes as well.1 point

My point is this: When looking at someone's record (both team and coach) how deep one advances in the playoffs is important to many. Getting to a regional tourney is a goal for many teams. How you got there really doesn't matter to the masses. For example: Last year, Hardin-Jefferson and Silsbee split their games in district with each team winning at home. Silsbee won the seed game in overtime. I truly believe if those two teams played 10 games they would split 5-5. They were as evenly matched as any team could be. Silsbee just had the best player (Bush). So, Silsbee gets the #1 seed, HJ #2. Silsbee (because they were the #1 seed) had a more favorable bracket and advanced to the regional tourney. HJ was beaten by Yates in 2nd round. Had the roles been reversed, Silsbee would have lost in 2nd round and HJ would have advanced to regional tourney. Advancing 4 rounds instead of 2 looks much better on a coach and team resume. Trust me, lot's of coaches and just about every fan would agree. Silsbee has advanced to the regional tourney 6 straight years now ( 12 of the last 16 years). That's a resume that not many in the entire state can boast about. Silsbee has had some incredible teams through those years but some of that success has to do with the playoff route. An honest coach would agree. There's a reason why many coaches look at the bracket layout. It's been known that some coaches concede seeding just for that fact. I'm old school. I put lot's of emphasis on winning district championships. I would want my team to do what they could to win a district title. The odds are, the higher the seed, the better chance you have of advancing deep in the playoffs.1 point -

Disagree. The way the brackets work out, what seed you end up in district could determine how far you make it in playoffs. Some will have easier paths than others.1 point -

While we were definitely the beneficiary of the DEC policy, there was very little satisfaction or feeling of accomplishment from our game last night. Credit to Coach Sigler and his staff for coaching the kids they had and how hard those kids played. They were placed in a difficult situation and they competed. I do not see any going back on the district's cancellation policy this year. However, it is apparent that it could be better and we will advocate a change for the future. Hopefully covid-19 will not be a factor and hopefully these quarantines will not change the outcome of this season.1 point

Sorry just read what happened, been there done that with the COVID... the leaders of this district should be ashamed that they make these kids either forfeit or play with what you have when other districts are being very flexible with rescheduling games. This gives LCM a win without their scorer that would have been an L under normal circumstances, gives them a better shot at the last playoff spot. This season is beyond jacked up, I wonder if Vidor has to play the real Silsbee next week?1 point -

In 22-4A, they have not been scheduling games for makeup. You can't field a team, you forfeit. They did it to Vidor 1st game of district. I agree with those who say that is silly. So Sig decided to roll the dice with the JV rather than forfeit.1 point

Crosby had a fantastic year. Aledo has been to state many times and is well coached and used to this type of game. They also have as good or better athletes than Crosby. Remember that they barely lost to a 6A team that is playing for a state title tomorrow. Hats off to both schools and incredible seasons!1 point -

Boneyard Boys reacted to AggiesAreWe for a topic
Yep. I never liked this districts covid protocol of making a team forfeit if they could not field a varsity team. Vidor having to forfeit their first district game this season was so bogus. Particularly since the week following was a week of non-district games and could have been made up then. Also, other districts are revamping schedules to avoid having teams forfeit. Why can't this district? UIL has allowed three games per week now just to try to help in these matters. I can understand the time crunch when districts are in the 2nd half of play but it makes no sense to forfeit games this early in the season when you have time to make them up. But, precedent has been made with Vidor having to forfeit a game. So teams will just have to make do when they encounter these issues.1 point -

TBF LH had two good backs. 42 and 20. The rest was just precision and blocking. The QB rarely ran the ball. I think that’s the difference when vidor was successful it was completely QB driven. Need to make it completely blocking driven. 42 ran through some holes that a literal car could have gone through when they ran one of their power plays. They put 5-6 blockers into a single gap to make that hole. it’s not just athletes. LH made me a believer that Slot T is more than just a gimmick.1 point

Dodgeball Bowl state championship
Tim Riggins reacted to Cougar14.2 for a topic
This may be the highest per capita household income game ever to be played in a UIL state championship? Whoever wins this game gets to be the man that beat the man that beat the man. I think North Shore is still the best team in the state but a three turnover day caused the not to be that afternoon against Westlake. More than any other year I can think of, which happens to also be the UIL’s 100th, the 2020 5A and 6A championship games highlight the dichotomy of THSF. Two things get you to a title game. 1) The best athlete x coach combination which is Crosby, Cedar Hill and Denton Ryan. 2) The best money x athlete combination which is SLC, Westlake, Aledo, Cedar Park and Katy. Those combinations mean less the further you drop in classifications where individual players have more of an impact but I think I’m the big divisions it draws a pretty clear picture of who actually has a “chance” when the season starts.1 point -
This is a great topic. I believe there was a time that defense won championships. I do not believe thats the case any longer. 4A and up teams that win consistently have polished offenses and disciplined defenses. I believe the change started when Stephenville started dominating with average talent and an outstanding scheme. They emphasized the offense and were so good at what they did that they could score on the most prolific defenses (like LaMarque of the 90's). Carthage is another example. Carthage had a great defense this year but they still win even when they don't have the best defense because they are so dynamic on offense. Defensive minded teams typically lack on the offensive side. These days, no matter how good you are on defense, you will eventually find someone dynamic enough to score on you. When that happens, you better be good enough to outscore them. Quite often, defensive teams can't win a shoot out. Offensive minded teams are used to it. In a nutshell, I think the model now is a prolific offense and a defense good enough to get a few stops.1 point
