Gun Control
5GallonBucket and 3 others reacted to tvc184 for a topic
I have often wondered the Democratic fixation with bayonet lugs. I have been a police officer for almost 40 years and I have never heard of anyone stabbed with a bayonet on the end of a rifle. I believe that I have been to over 150 murder scenes and probably 10 times that many serious injury assaults or assaults with a deadly weapon. I have never heard a bayonet on the end of a rifle even mentioned, much less used. Yet, The US Congress (left side of the aisle) brings that up into laws as if that would somehow make any difference in anything. Not a single murder will be stopped or has been stopped by passing a law about a bayonet lug yet it was in the previous assault weapons ban and has been continually pushed since it expired (the same with barrel shrouds and other features). I can come to only two conclusions. One is they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about, which somehow does not seem strange to me. The other is that they know it is complete nonsense but they are trying to find any reason in an attempt to justify their beliefs, which somehow does not seem strange to me. We all should know that the dreaded “assault rifle” that seems to occupy their time, only accounts for about 2% of the homicides each year in this country. That means they are not very occupied with the other 98% or like above, they know it is complete nonsense but it is the means to an end. Either way it is false… Which is a nice way of saying, it is a lie. Want real comedy? Watch some of the many YouTube videos of Democratic politicians talking about guns.4 points -

In 3 days, everyone who dies from Covid will be Biden’s fault. Anyone killed by a terrorist in this country will be Biden’s fault. Hey, guess what.....anything bad that happens will be Biden’s fault. Anything that anyone considers a good accomplishment by Biden, I will overlook completely. Let’s impeach him now for abuse of power.2 points

Ewers is the #1 player in the country for next year. He’s got elite arm talent, but doesn’t look comfortable under pressure. Klubnik is only a 4 star and #3 QB in the state. He’s a better football player right now and should rise up the rankings. I’ve been impressed with his game the last few weeks.2 points -

me too... however.... I have never liked the concept of a warm up game.s, and have never played one.. At that point in the season, you know who your playoff opponents would be... Unless you are a team that needs a morale boost, or are trying to up your win/loss % for seeding in the state tournament, there are few advantages and lots of disadvantages for these type of games (not talking about winning or taking losses..injuries/ $$ lost prep time for games that matter).... thats what the slate of 15-20 non district games are for...1 point -
So.... About Ted Cruz.
WOSdrummer99 reacted to baddog for a topic
It comes down to company worthiness. Think of the people who have had to work up to making $15 per hour. Now companies will be hiring inexperienced people off the street and paying them $15 per hour. How is that going to make employees feel, who have been working probably for years and finally making $15 per hour? Don’t even come at me with McDonald’s. It’s gotten to where I pull up and say, “Just throw something in the bag that you think I will like.” They say, “Sir, we can’t do that.” I say, “Well, you did it yesterday!” Don’t tell me they are worth $15 per hour.1 point -
So.... About Ted Cruz.
baddog reacted to LumRaiderFan for a topic
So how would you manage that? Would the gov decide who can pay $15 an hour without hurting the bottom line? An average McDonalds has around 70 employees. If you double the salaries by going to $15 you will cause lots of kids to lose their jobs that aren’t trying to support a family. That’s who the minimum wage jobs are for. $15 minimum wage is a horrible idea for any business.1 point -

The problem is that this would have to be done before boys' district starts and, for the reason you noted, this year I don't know a coach that wants to waste a date on one that may be required for a makeup or playoff district games. This particularly true given the problems that have befallen the United boys and girls this season!1 point -

I would love to see a United vs HJ girls matchup as a warm up . The Lady Hawks need a competitive game before the playoffs start and I’m not sure they can find one locally. They got something special brewing in Sour Lake and the scary part is they are extremely YOUNG.1 point -

BMTSoulja1 reacted to AggiesAreWe for a topic
That would be impossible. Girls start playoffs week before boys do. Girls Bi-District dates are Feb. 11-13. Boys are still playing district games on those dates. Boys Bi-district dates are Feb. 18-20. Feb. 15-16 is for any play in, seed games needed. (or warm ups) Girls would be in Area round that weekend.1 point -
I totally agree with that. These coaches know how to put there kids in position to make plays and dominate the line scrimmage.i don't see setx schools has yet to understand what it takes to get there1 point

+1000! May I also add that with a team as young as Silsbee, they will likely get better each and every round of the playoffs. Some of their best players have never even experienced playing in a playoff game. So hypothetically, playing a Yates in round 2 vs round 4 or 5 could make a huge difference in potential outcomes as well.1 point
