Nobody is winning titles without overall talent near the top of your classification. Nowhere was that more apparent in the title games than Cedar Park vs Denton Ryan. State title winning coach with his best team ever gets destroyed by just a way more talented DR team. Crosby was talented enough across the board to make it to the title game. Aledo had multiple SEC kids on the team along with several other D1 recruits. Probably 11 total. We could’ve switched coaches and we would’ve still gotten stomped. Yeah, the coaching is great but out of a 2% black population at their school the fact that 40% percent of them end up as D1 recruits is what has their program where it is. To further expand upon that look at Barbers Hill. They have a head coach with multiple state titles, the necessary funding and still struggle to finish above third place in district play because of their talent. Same story can be said for TW’s predecessor who showed up at BH with two 5A/6A titles and got run off/retired. Weird how all the elite coaches coach at places with either elite money or elite talent.

I would definitely argue that’s not the case. What I would say is that they have more money in the DFW than the average school does down here though. Do some of the conservative views hold back the Golden Triangle area? Absolutely. To say they’re holding back schools like Crosby and BH is incorrect though. “Modernizing” is part of the reason Crosby was in their financial situation they were a couple of years ago.

Maybe not being able to go to games has slowed the chatter down. Maybe the haters for some teams have gotten a soft heart because of the pandemic. Maybe teams are not dominant as years past. Maybe there just not that much to talk about. Maybe it’s just a small trend. Ok, I’m running out of maybes.

Elite Coaches bring Elite talent. Elite talent wins some games. Winning some games brings more talent and breeds competition. By competing you weed out the week and build depth. Jimmies and Joes will come with Elite Coaching. Just my opinion. Doesn't count for a thing.

Coaching is Huge. The Coach has to be able to build a culture to keep the kids.

Best post I have read in a long time. You are right, Covid is population control and control of the masses. I don’t care for the UN (they can move their headquarters to another country), I don’t care for the CDC, WHO, or anything type of governing body that begins with WORLD or GLOBAL. Nothing good can come from that in the long run. We are America. The country that is the envy of the world. Why would anyone want to drastically change that? If it ain’t broke......

I'm just happy we've managed to have a season at all this year. I'm sure things being a little off do to covid has something to do with it. Silsbee fans are usually pretty active here, but we kinda stay a bit quieter when we feel like we're alone. Some teams not being district rivals anymore doesn't help either.

May have even been complicit in its introduction, or spread, but that’s only speculation based again, on the past. I have no proof. Again, for you younger folks who think I’m “over the top” with this post, I heard older folks talking around 50 years ago about other “over the top” things that I disregarded, but that have happened. So even if you don’t agree, don’t just disregard it out of hand like I did. Keep your eye on them and follow the bread crumbs.

Tradition and expectations as well as confidence. These are players traits. But the key, IMO, is talent, continuity of scheme, good coaching and great leadership from the top down.

I agree with you 100% but it’s not going to happen. I watched just about every state game of 5A and 6A. Every school had a least 1 kid playing both ways. One team, can’t remember which one, had a kid that played receiver and corner. He had two TD’s receiving and two picks on D. If those teams can do it and play more games and play for State there is no excuse why PNG can’t except that Fairclothe won’t let it happen because more parents would b__ch about their kids not playing. This is one of the reasons why. Not playing kids both ways means there is 22 spots open for 22 kids. Welcome to PNG where little Johnny doesn’t even know how to put his pads on right but deserves playing time because mommy demands it or she will go to the superintendent.

The BS? Please elaborate. Because the only reason Coach Peevey would consider this job is because of probably more pay and being closer to home. Surely the ‘BS’ wasn’t the problem when WB was doing well in a 6a district with D1 talent on the team AND a state title run in the biggest classification in Texas.
