He has successfully continued to raise gas prices at the pump giving us poor peasants a great place to spend our “stimulus” money. That would make BISD a rarity as just about every multi-high school district has an AD apart from coaching duties. I have seen some of Ron Jackson's duties and can tell you he earns every cent of his salary.

BISD should just get rid of the Athletic Director position, bump both head coach positions up to about $110,000, and make them the AD of their schools and their feeder schools. That would be enough money to draw some good coaches and keep BISD from recycling those not so good coaches.

Back in my day, if there was a 3 point line, I would have averaged 3.3 points a game instead of 2.2.

I don't recall anybody losing their job over using that "b" word. Have you ever seen kid hit their brother over and over and finally get hit back, then come crying and wailing "he HIT me!!!" That's black people and the "n" word. I think the thing that annoys me the most about this particular situation is that we've heard for years that we (whitey) don't understand that it's a term of endearment among blacks, but the worst epithet possible when used against black people. Even if you're racist enough to believe that, that's not the case here. This guy was literally using it as a term of endearment to a non-black, but it's still racist according to the thought police. We won the toss...Silsbee enters the playoffs as #1 seed. I agree, would have been a good warm up for both teams.

EC is quick as a cat in the back court which lends itself to dominating teams that don’t have that luxury. In the playoffs, especially after the first round, that separation begins to tighten. Lots of stuff has to fall in to place to get to state. They have an added bonus in the coaching seat.

Lumberton’s finish this year can be attributed to two things. A super coaching job and a weaker than normal district. With what they graduated last year and what they had moving up I would have never got this prediction right. After watching them several times earlier this year I was surprised they beat Silsbee at Silsbee. I guess shocked would be more accurate. I watched Coach Mitchell since he was at Hardin and the credit for the Raiders resurgence is his. He’s changed the culture of Lumberton’s basketball program. Congratulations Raiders !!

Jackson's forte seems to be hiring football coaches with losing records. It would be some complete BS if he tried to bring Foreman back.

EC has a great team but getting to state takes more than that. Gotta have some luck on the way. Ranking doesn't mean everything but it does give you an idea of quality opponents. EC is ranked #11. They will likely meet up with #12 Coldsprings in the second round, #16 Diboll in the 3rd, #9 Malakoff or #15Lorena in the 4th, #7 New Waverly in the 5th and #4 CC London or #5 SA Cole or #8 Aransas Pass in the 6th round. Of course there will be upsets along the way but there are certainly quality teams to play on the way to the State Championship where #1 Dallas Madison or #2 Brock or #3 Peaster will be waiting. EC has been to state 3 times in the somewhat recent past and has a coach who isn't a stranger to winning state championships. Go Bucs!

I agree. But the pay could be adjusted to the years experience than paying each head coach the same regardless of experience.

Given that one of Coach Foreman's main complaints about his time at Central was discord between him and BISD administration, I'm not sure that he is that anxious to return to the district.

The fact that we’re in the middle of a pandemic should be enough reason to stop this flood. Oh, but it’s happening in Texas so, no problem. When there was rumor last year about Crouch retiring. Peevy was already contacted by LCM administration about taking the job. He has close friends in the Admin. It was a no brainer.

You know that decades of mental conditioning goes both ways. I think a lot of winning teams have the mentality that they can't be beat and that gives them an edge, that is in all sports. That's why you have smaller schools like WOS kicking everybodies butts in football all of the time or Silsbbe being a kinpin in basketball or even Lumberton having two of the best soccer teams in the area, it's the mentality and expectation of winning.

It's mere speculation until they officially make an announcement. So -- no harm, no foul!

It’s hard to have the kind of athletes that Silsbee produces most every year it seems. With the likes of McCain, Adams and Bush and throw Barnes etc in the mix...I’ve been a basketball junkie for a looong time and I can’t remember a bad Silsbee team... Maybe when AAW played. Lol.
