I'm neither a D or an R. I can't stand either party. I consider myself a moderate conservative. I can respect those concerned with immigrants and their children. I also respect their need and desire to do better here in America. I just cannot support open borders and forgoing a legal system for that to happen. I can somewhat relate with those concerned with our environment but they want to take it too far too fast. I can appreciate compassion for the rest of the world that's in need but not without putting Americans first. I respect and agree with the call to provide food for those in need but I can't support a card with unlimited choices. I wholeheartedly agree with BLM. However, liberals take too far by wanting to defund the police and portray them as the bad guys and making the bad guys heroes and martyrs. Somehow its portrayed as all white peoples fault. It's taken too far and I can't support that. I can understand their desire for inclusion but I can't support things that conflict with my biblical values. If you can somehow remove politics from the equation, I think they mean well. I just don't agree.4 points

I’m with you. The middle paragraph especially. Well, the third too for that matter. I must admit I laughed when I read the title of your thread. Not that it was funny and I think it’s a great idea and maybe something that should be required in DC. But because it reminded me of the classic Gomer Pyle line from the Andy Griffith show - “For a fat girl you sure don’t sweat much!” I think that’s the kind of “compliments” we should expect here 😂4 points

I am curious if you can find at least one thing positive to say about the “other side”. Hopefully this will not only be back-handed compliments and denigration. I’ll start off saying that I don’t really consider myself to be either a Republican or a Democrat; I loathe the self-serving life-long politicians on both sides. But I would say my views align more with the Republican side. Minus the problems inherent with the bureaucracy associated with it I respect the attempt to provide for the less fortunate from the Democrats. Jesus said for us to feed the hungry, provide shelter and clothe those in need (Matthew 25, 31-40).2 points

For the fourth year in a row these two teams will meet up on Opening Day of Texas High School Baseball, the Silsbee Tigers and Nederland Bulldogs. This year the game will be played in Silsbee at the Tiger Diamond with the JV starting at 4:30 and the Varsity starting at 7:00. The Bulldogs own a 2-1 record in those meeting winning in 2018 5-0 and winning 2-1 last year holding off the Tigers in the last inning. The Tigers won in 2019 4-2 in come from behind fashion in the last innings. Looking forward to an exciting game tonight at the Tiger Diamond. TigerNation!!!2 points

Part Time Texan Ted Cruz Escapes To Cancun.. While Millions Are Helpless
5GallonBucket and one other reacted to tvc184 for a topic
My only problem with Cruz was that I still have seven weeks of vacation left this year and was not invited. I don’t know how many there are on the state level however there are 13 Democratic US House representatives from Texas. Since they are actually in small districts and should be more closely in tuned with their constituents, I would like to see a detail outlay of what each of them did to help “their” Community. I mean if they weren’t helping peoples shovel snow or under houses fixing broken water lines, are the Democrats going to vote for them in the next election or does this fake perceived anger only apply to Republicans?2 points -

Based off of this logic are there any teams in the area besides Beaumont United that are not average? I don't think anybody gave the scarborough team you speak of credit for making history (In a positive way) that comparison is apples and oranges to this Bridge City team.2 points -

Height doesn’t always mean anything. my soph year at HF in 96 our starting lineup was 6’7”, 6’6”, 6’5”, 6’2”, 6’0” and we lost to kountze in first round. I think they had one guy that was 6’4” . their pressure was relentless2 points -

This one should be a good one. Silsbee is "down" but they are still very formidable. They lost a lot from last year and are competing with a young group. I say Silsbee by 6.1 point

Can you compliment the “other side”?
Hagar reacted to CardinalBacker for a topic
But it has to be balanced. The Bible also teaches us "for even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat" in @ Thessalonians 3:10. That totally flies in the face of the doctrine on the left that it's your right as an American to be provided with food, shelter, college education, a smart phone, healthcare and spending money. There are a lot of people who can't do for themselves.... but there are many, many more who chose NOT to do for themselves.... and it's no secret that most of them vote "D" because of the well-intentioned but misguided principles on the left. I hear people complaining all of the time.... "if a kid goes to school and can't afford lunch, they feed him/her a ham sandwich! Can you believe it? A HAM SANDWICH!!!" For the record, if I'm paying for my kids lunch he/she deserves to eat better. This whole "equality" horse crap should have been nipped in the bud a long time ago. Nobody owes you anything. Period. And if you have to eat a ham sandwich while my kid is eating something better... that's how it works in real life, and it's a lesson that you learned at an early age. I've said for a long time that if people heard their kids crying because they were hungry, there wouldn't be nearly as many kids living in poverty. We've made it too easy to suck on the teat. People don't believe in getting a better job and moving up the ladder... they believe in yelling until they get a bump in their foodstamps. That's focusing solely on one issue, but it's the same across the board. We've all heard about the ants and grasshoppers getting ready for winter. For some crazy reason, the Ds stopped examining things like work ethic and sound decision making and instead want to look solely at results based on skin color. If you are raised in a single parent household, your odds of being poor are very, very high. We also know that the rates of black kids born out of wedlock is astounding compared to other races.... but the left refuses to acknowledge the correlation and instead blame "systemic racism" and "oppression" for the plight of young black kids being raised by single moms (or grandmothers). Trust me.... white folks didn't coin the terms "baby mama" and "baby daddy," but the Ds won't acknowledge the correlations.1 point -

HF by 4. Will be a low scoring game. Rideaux will control the tempo in the half court and not allow Silsbee to run which is the main way they score. Who ever controls the tempo wins and I don't think Silsbee is discipline enough due to youth to counter HF scemes. Silsbee hoops, HF plays basketball. Will be a chess match1 point -

BC had #2 ranked team in state but stayed home during playoffs, because only 1 team went per district. #1 ranked Hebert beat BC by 2 at home and by 1 at BC and won district. Hebert went on to win state easily. This was Wendall Martin, Briggs. I believe that's how it went down, it's a long time back now, maybe 1980 team.1 point -

Gotcha. I had a similar situation a couple of years ago where a very well respected local coach was playing puppet master with another school to try and keep my kid from playing. Unfortunately for him, he didn’t realize I had known a couple of superintendents in that district most of my life. So we were lucky and it didn’t end well for those trying to improve their team’s chances by doing a kid dirty.1 point -
Most of Silsbee's size sits on the bench besides Jones. Tallest are 6`7, 6`4, and three kids who're 6'3. Baltrip (6`0) has the athleticism to play like he's 6`6. I wish Jones would find a good plyometric workout to do this off season. He'd be a lot more scarier if he could jump. Williams gets the most playing time off the bench past that. He usually subs in for Jones. I kinda wish we'd let them both play at once. Might help on the boards more. Will be really interesting to see what the team looks like next year.1 point

Yes things are watered down, but good teams should be able to beat average teams in the playoffs. Historical victory all depends on what school you're talking about. It won't mean the same for Hardin Jefferson as is does for Bridge City. BC ain't a bad team. From what I've seen they look decent at the lower classes as well.1 point

Just for grins I’ll use a Houston Scarborough football team that made school history a few years back when they made the playoffs going 1-9 on the season and 0-4 in their conference. Sometimes we need to dig a little deeper into historical data 😂. I’ve beat this horse to death 😂😂1 point -

Didn't have water to give away. But I did meet some new neighbors that weren't here during the last hurricane. I think it's great how people come together during a crisis. And like @Realville said, no mention of politics. Not race, religion, or sexual orientation, will stop me from helping as much as possible. If that’s never been bettered, then by its very definition, yes. It was only the second playoff win in school history I believe. Has nothing to do with being loose with terminology - it was a historic win for the school.1 point

I'm dont know much about HF this besides them playing is a very tough district. I know there well coached as well. Silsbee I think has more talent but it will depend if Silsbee can force turnovers and knock down outside shots. Again, Silsbee 68-60 for W.1 point
