  1. Lol, every year we're supposed to be worst than the previous one because X kids graduated. Remember the Twins graduating and how bad we were supposed to be before we went to the semis the next year? Remember when Rio left we were supposed to be awful? "Crosby's little run is over" was the main comment I heard. As our community grows the deeper the talent pool we have to choose from which was pretty evident if you watched our Spring game the other day. We don't have hair rules so we can also accept all-state transfers like Reggie Branch who has dreads. We're getting bigger and even faster as seen with our 4x100 state title a few weeks ago. Long as we have a competent coach we're going to be competitive given the athletes that the community produces. Not to mention we just care more. It doesn't matter if you see it this year though, you dang sure didn't see it before last season and we got to the finals. If we end up like Dayton it's because we'll be in 6A. Dayton ended up in the situation they're in now because they think like Dayton. Crosby wouldn't hire a guy who hasn't coached in 5 years and give him the keys to the entire athletic program. As long as we don't have more financial issues or catastrophic injuries like '18, what you saw from Crosby in the '19 season is probably our floor now which are second round losses. Crosby only has two first round losses in a decade+ and those were to teams with generational talents for their schools like MQ and RJ. Crosby can be a better overall team this year and still lose to FB Marshall in the 3rd round. Won't be a knock on us at all, 90% of the teams that make it to Dallas have to have the stars align. I think Crosby being viewed as average by mediocre teams like BH is part of what drives our kids and coaching staff to separate from that mediocrity. I guarantee when offseason workouts start next week they'll be even more intense than last year's and you won't hear a peep out of the kids or parents. I personally love it because I can feed information like this to my son, who's coming off a broken leg, about how his class is supposed suck and maybe get that squat up to 500lbs before he enters his sophomore year in the fall.

  2. Not to mention there’s plans for 4-6k homes by 99 in the city. The growth is skyrocketing right now almost to a danger point.

  3. No. There is no evidence of any crime except trespassing which is a misdemeanor. A citizen, not the police, have the defense to prosecution in Texas that they were stopping a burglary (breaking and entering) in progress IF deadly force was reasonably needed. The police absolutely do not have that authority as demonstrated by SCOTUS in Garner. The police can use deadly force to stop a threat of deadly force. In Garner SCOTUS said there had to be a violent act or the threat of violence for the police to justify deadly force. Maybe she had something that looked like a weapon in her hand and was screaming “I am going to kill you #%£{@!!!”. If that is true, they need to release at least the claim and an explanation. At least from what I have seen, the officer doing the shooting was the only one with a gun drawn. Why with several officers with him trying to stop a small and likely unarmed woman coming through a window, was he the only one to even draw a weapon? According apparently to their prosecutors, it does not even warrant a trial which means it had to be so clear-cut it it was obviously self-defense. It should not matter but again, swap the roles and see what the outcome would be. A white cop, surrounded by other officers, none of who feel threatened enough to draw their weapon, shoots an unarmed small black female coming through a window.

  4. Yes it was. Game was a scoreless pitching dual through 6, then previously undefeated Lake Creek made some fielding errors and BH scored 3 in the 7th. It looked like the game was over then, but BH pitching got tired and walked the bases loaded with no outs! Relief pitcher then recorded 3 consecutive K's to shut the door on Lake Creek. Game 2 Thursday evening at 5.

A big regional paper or digital media giant like the Enterprise has to be all things to all people. They have to be accurate, unique, popular and able to call it like they see it. I think they did a pretty good job. Juggling all that is not easy to do.

  12. Not sure if anyone has been following, but we had a rare occurrence this week. Two district foes met in the finals for a state championship. After finishing first and second at the district tournament AND AGAIN at the regional tournament, Sabine Pass’s Travis Mistry and Deweyville’s James Menard met in the final match at the 2A State Tournament. As was the case the previous two times, Mistry again came out on top. But what an incredible accomplishment for both young men - congrats! [Hidden Content]

  14. I did not imply that "all" apartments are Section 8. I mentioned trailer parks, too. Its about the tax base, and I thought I had clearly stated that. As far as BHISD buying tracts ups, maybe they ARE trying to lessen traffic, not in the roadways but in the hallways of their schools. BH is building on as fast and furious as they can, so do you think they want to be flooded with hundreds and hundreds more students before the new construction is even complete? Not everything is always about football, believe it or not. Sounds like prudent planning, IMO.

    Abortion?

I agree it is a moral issue..... but it’s also a legal issue. when a murder commits the crime against a pregnant woman(both die)= double murder. LEGAL issue murder is a crime .....manslaughter is a crime. A life is now gone. LEGAL issue

  16. The word is that Chambers County zoned those parcels for multi building residential, so they wanted apartments in that location. If you want to attract people to your area then you better have affordable housing for the people that can't afford a 300k tract home. Not all apartments are section 8 or low income, so that is a little bit of a mischaracterization. If you're not willing to make housing affordable, then you can only coach up the current talent base so much. Also, to think that BHISD bought those parcels to lessen traffic congestion is a little ridiculous.

  17. Rusk has a dude on the mound, but OF can take them. Their last game was 1-1 in the 13th inning, so it seems they don’t hit real well. Get his pitch count up, and get him out of the game and OF has a real shot.

The whole problem here is that you can’t legislate morality.

  20. It’s laughable at this point. I’m going to lay back and sip my Gin and Juice in my fancy house, be happy that we have no apartments with my Trump hat on, and flick my nose to all of the poor people that trash Barbers Hill, but are jealous for some odd reason of what we do.😂

  21. I don't look at it that way at all. My opinion is that many people are baffled/exacerbated/pissed that an officer that kills a Black person is held to one standard, but an officer that kills a White person is held to a completely different standard. I don't want to speak for others, but that is my opinion of why this is an issue. (Sorry for the late reply, but I haven't been keeping up with the topics here lately. My reply might have already been discussed further in this topic, considering I'm just now reading the first page.)

  26. I'm more concerned that enough people won't get vaccinated and instead of controlling the spread, it'll just cause the virus to further mutate and eventually we're forced back into lockdowns. They've said all long that somewhere between 70-80% would need to be vaccinated for us to develop immunity. I'm very glad that the internet didn't exist when my parents were kids. Everybody would have slung half-truths, whole lies, and wild speculations around and we'd still be losing tons of kids to polio every year because nobody would have gotten the vaccination.

  28. Totally unverifiable post, just information that was relayed by a football guy that lives in the BH district: Word in the back room is that TW left mainly because of the superintendent. Supt. would come into the office and question TW about some of the coaching decisions he was making. Undoubtedly the supt. used to coach in his pre-administrative days? The son left this past season after a discussion with the supt. that included something along the lines of "This isn't Dallas, you're not winning down here without athletes" from KW. Heard the Westerbergs were a little surprised with the personnel and the nonchalant attitude from the kids and parents towards winning in BH. Not sure exactly what part of the season/offseason it was but he gave an example of kids pulling into the parking lot for Saturday practice/workouts with boats hooked up to their trucks like, "We just have to hurry and get through this so we can go do X and not really focusing on the work that needed to be put in." Supposedly there are two things that happened that really rubbed TW the wrong way more than the supt.'s arrogance and questioning of his coaching. One was the hair situation that happened at BH. BH had several transfers lined up at the skill positions for the upcoming season and all pulled out after the news. Second, there was supposedly some school meeting where the supt. informed the staff that the district bought some land around I-10 and HWY 99 to keep an apartment complex that would've been zoned to BH from being built. Comment was along the lines of "We don't need that in our district". Sounds like the supt. just wore TW out and TW not really having to deal with it just chose to leave. Was also told the supt. has already reached out to Surratt who said he was good. The one sentiment I didn't get was that this was some sudden decision TW made, he had been on the fence for a while. I commented earlier about what TW would tell other coaches who asked him for advice about the BH job and now I think that's even more pertinent. *Unrelated - was told the supt. fired Price because he benched his son his senior year. Dick Olin had a lot to do with Murray ending up in Allen playing for his buddy TW after leaving Lewisville. TWs BASE salary was in the $160k range but had escalators pertaining to other sports that could've taken his salary to the $180k range.

  32. Traden you know your wasting your breath. Everyone outside of BH always know what’s going on, what we should do and how stupid we were for making decisions. It’s like the housewife’s of SETX after a couple of bottles of wine😂. Glad TW was here and hope they spend a million on the next one just to piss everyone off! We have a good class coming back this year, just hope the spread stays and we don’t start completely over.

  33. It's just been a weird dynamic on this one for me... many of the same people that are pissed about this officer making a split-second decision to shoot an insurrectionist breaching the house chambers don't have any of the same animosity towards an officer who spent nearly a quarter of an hour kneeling on a handcuffed subject's neck.
    1 point
  34. Personally, I think that officer should be recognized for heroism. I, for one, have no problem with the police shooting anybody that is storming the House Chamber as part of an armed insurrection trying to overthrow our government.
