So from 14.2’s massive rumor mill. You must just sit around gossiping all day. TW’s departure has BH imploding! Coaches leaving, parents jerking their kids out of school! It is pure panic at the Hill! I’m selling my house, putting my kids in dreads, getting them a couple of tats and moving to Crosby where at least they care about football.2 points -

It’s from the Fourth Amendment under an unreasonable seizure. The Supreme Court has ruled that it is unlawful to use deadly force for a crime it is not using or threatening to use deadly force. I don’t know that I disagree with that. In Texas using a credit card without permission is a felony. If a 16-year-old kid uses a stolen credit card to buy $10 worth of gas, should I be able to shoot him (as a police officer) in the back to stop him? In my opinion I should not. Arson might be a bad example because in arson you could always say that it might seriously injure or kill someone in or near a building. When it is clearly a non-violent crime however, I don’t think the police should be able to shoot people, especially in the back. For apprehending a violent criminal, that is absolutely a different issue.1 point

I’ll have to look back, but I believe y’all were in a 5 team district. Either way PAM IMO has been way below the expectations we all thought when they combined SFA, Lincoln, and TJ. If you deny that then I don’t know what say. This all based of posters talking about us going to 6A and terrible we will be. I just used PAM, who has better athletes as an example. Name one 5A school East of North Shore that can move up to 6A and go several rounds deep in all sports, especially football? My answer is none, not even the “Mecca” btw, we’re probably in trouble next year as far as football goes.😂1 point -

LOL, Memorial had to make a come back last year to beat Barbers Hill. Go sit down with that nonsense. Really, BH should’ve won that game. Most of your playoffs was in a 5 team district where 4 teams go and first round bye by playing Baytown Sterling or a Pasadena school.Come on man yall can’t even sweep us in basketball. Lol1 point

I did not imply that "all" apartments are Section 8. I mentioned trailer parks, too. Its about the tax base, and I thought I had clearly stated that. As far as BHISD buying tracts ups, maybe they ARE trying to lessen traffic, not in the roadways but in the hallways of their schools. BH is building on as fast and furious as they can, so do you think they want to be flooded with hundreds and hundreds more students before the new construction is even complete? Not everything is always about football, believe it or not. Sounds like prudent planning, IMO.1 point -

BH views Crosby as just an average program. BH thinks they should be above average and average Crosby just played for a state title. They going to keep trying to buy their way to above average because there's precedent for other schools doing it. Unless guys just don't want the job I highly doubt they're going cheap.1 point -
The word is that Chambers County zoned those parcels for multi building residential, so they wanted apartments in that location. If you want to attract people to your area then you better have affordable housing for the people that can't afford a 300k tract home. Not all apartments are section 8 or low income, so that is a little bit of a mischaracterization. If you're not willing to make housing affordable, then you can only coach up the current talent base so much. Also, to think that BHISD bought those parcels to lessen traffic congestion is a little ridiculous.1 point

How Safe is the Vaccine ?
SmashMouth reacted to baddog for a topic
I am 68 years old, have high blood pressure and diabetes, got Covid around Christmas (it was terrible), I survived it and my body has created anti-bodies on its own. Vaccines do exactly that.... make your immune system create anti-bodies. I will take my chances and don’t need to be offered French fries baiting me into getting vaccinated. Everyone else, do what you want to. It’s a free country, at least the last time I checked.1 point -
CARL ABSECK NAMED NEW AD/HFC AT BARBERS HILL
Steven Avery reacted to Separation Scientist for a topic
My take is Barbers Hill wants to remain a community with a high tax base. The average owner in a 300K house pays more into the system than the "public assistance" people in apartments or in trailer parks. Also, the roads are way overburdened with all the growth that has gone on there over the past 25 years. It used to be a bunch of rice fields left and right of I-10, but now new homes are everywhere. Why would they want to add apartments to an already overgrown area? Common sense, not an "ism" agenda some are trying to accuse them of.1 point -
A big regional paper or digital media giant like the Enterprise has to be all things to all people. They have to be accurate, unique, popular and able to call it like they see it. I think they did a pretty good job. Juggling all that is not easy to do.1 point

How Safe is the Vaccine ?

I'm more concerned that enough people won't get vaccinated and instead of controlling the spread, it'll just cause the virus to further mutate and eventually we're forced back into lockdowns. They've said all long that somewhere between 70-80% would need to be vaccinated for us to develop immunity. I'm very glad that the internet didn't exist when my parents were kids. Everybody would have slung half-truths, whole lies, and wild speculations around and we'd still be losing tons of kids to polio every year because nobody would have gotten the vaccination.1 point -
7 on 7
Mr. Buddy Garrity reacted to Matthew328 for a topic
Your original comment was 7on7 was overrated as a gauge to Friday night success, I disagree, I think for teams that run their Friday night system on both sides of the ball there's a strong correlation to success in the fall (as evidenced by the results) stated earlier. Is 7on7 the sole reason they are having success? No, but I dont think success is overrated either...I think if you go out and get eyes on who is doing what, quite a bit can be gleamed from 7on7 as an indicator in the fall.1 point -
Todd Dodge (Westlake) Riley Dodge (Southlake Carroll) Surratt (Carthage) Brad Butler (Shadow Creek) Todd Mcvey (Katy Thompkins) Craig Stump (Atascocita) John Kay (North Shore) Carl Abseck (Cedar Park) In no particular order, I would be seeing if these guys wanted HC/AD at $175k. Maybe unrealistic, but money does talk.1 point
