I don’t know the Superintendent or the AD that’s leaving. I do know half of the board who are the kinda people who you would want working for your kids whether it was youth sports or checkers. Warren has had some excellent AD/HC over the years that were average on the record books at Warren . One went to the staff at WOS I believe as the QB coach and helped the Mustangs win a State title or two. Another was dismissed and within a few days was on a staff in the NFL. There are more over the years who didn’t win at Warren. All these guys could coach. I haven’t been to many Warren athletic events over the last few years but I gotta say last year I went to check out a Varsity Basketball game. I was amazed to see the AD on the bench as an assistant coach . Maybe the AD got tired of wearing that hat . I don’t think you can blame Warrens lackluster record the last 6 years on the AD and I don’t think the school board sits around a coffee shop conspiring to run off a current or past coach. I think the parents and kids at Warren aren’t willing to put in the work in takes to be successful year in and year out. Until they decide to do that work Nick Sabin or Dabo Swinney couldn’t win there.

As I morph from old man to curmudgeon, let me share some poo. Out last night and ran into an old friend. He made a remark, “I hate to get out because people are crazy”. Why bring it up? My wife & I have been complaining about that, so at least others see it. Drive like nuts. Zero manners. And cell phones - good grief. I contemplate the possible suicide rate if all the cell phones were taken away. Now, since my 300 or so TV stations are so bad, we were watching Dr. Pimple Popper. Lady had a large marble size cyst in her hair. She was concerned about having a bald spot up there when the cyst was removed. Ordinarily, I could understand her concern, but this lady had a lip ring and a nose ring. Heck, she could be bald and I wouldn’t notice it with Bubba’s Scrap Iron hanging out of every orifice. What is it that makes a person want to disfigure themselves? Guess I’m just getting old(er).

I’ll relate what I’ve mentioned to you before - how fast time goes by when you get old. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Andy Rooney’s quote - “Life is like a roll of toilet paper, the nearer to the end you get, the faster it goes”. My great example is my pill containers. I have three of them that are for 7 days each, so three weeks worth. I have to refill them every week & a half (at least). I hate to blink, 15 seconds go bye. A yawn, two minutes. I use to think my eyes were getting bad, now I realize everything is happening so fast, it’s just a blur. Anyway, as my feeble brain comes up with something, more rambling to follow. 😂

Manners are gone. Common decency and respect for elders is gone. The attitude now is say whatever you want (free speech), do whatever you want (defund the police), act however you want (it’s not your fault - it’s society, the government, your parent’s fault, etc). As people continue to turn their back on God, and as our country continues to distance itself from Him we as a country will continue rolling downhill like a snowball headed for hell.

But remember when those 2 5A's were merged, their combined enrollment to get the ADM for United was only 60 students more than West Brook's. They had lost that enrollment advantage by the next enrollment and were in 5A, DI. Plus, with the new schools going up in the Metroplex and Houston, the 6A/5A border, as Soulja pointed out, is sure to rise.

You are right, Darrel and Brian are at Jasper. However, the kids have to want to put in the extra work. Newton graduates this Friday and the kids that will be coming back next year will be in the weight room next week just as they have been doing since the end of football this year. Newton competes in powerlifting every year and have several coaches coaching powerlifting. Does Warren have a powerlifting program? Powerlifting is required for all football players and a record is kept on the progress of each player. Powerlifting and success go hand in hand when all the kids buy into it.

In 1996 I was working in Stavanger Norway and I flew 4,846 miles to Houston, then drove 265 miles to Ft Worth, picking up my son in Huntsville on the way, to see Tenaha play Windthorst for the Class A championship game. Then on Monday, I returned to Norway. In 1998, I flew from Dammam Saudi Arabia, 7,927 miles, to see Tenaha play Wheeler for the Class A Championship game in Ft Worth.

Maxpreps rankings are stupid. They have them ranked 7th in Texas, but 2nd in the nation? Maybe I don't fully understand how their rankings work? That said, these are absolutely two fantastic wins for BH.

I guess so but then just a few years ago they had a 2 5a’s and Brook a 6a... so for them to only have 2 5a’s now just seems a little wild for me.

Sounds like that might be right according to Stepp? I don't think BH could go wrong with either Wager or Abseck but if I had to question one it would be Abseck. He's only been a head coach 6 years and was basically handed the machine Chris Ross and Joe Willis built. He's done well maintaining it but can he come close to replicating those results without CP's money and athletes, TW couldn't? I remember Crosby playing Hutto in the regional final and thinking how we were about to get killed because of Hutto's size. The next round we played Cedar Park who was on a completely different level size-wise. The next year Abseck took over and won a title with a bunch of those returners. Wager has gotten to coach kids like Myles Garret so he too has been gifted with a bunch of talent and has a very good record but he's also been brutalized by the who's who of DFW coaches. Hard to fault him when the guys he's losing to include names like Lineweaver, Samples, Mathis and Westerberg though. His Martin teams have never been as talented on the whole as any of those other coach's teams but he's managed to still win one against them here and there. Not to mention he's the main catalyst for turning Martin into the solid program it's been the last decade or so. I know BH has kind of missed on hiring coaches to to drop down a class and take over their program but if it is down to these two I would think Wager is the better fit.

It's ridiculous. I gave up when the lady from Mid County backed over her own kid at the snow-cone stand and sued Ford Motor Company. Until they make the plaintiff bear the legal fees of the defendant when the plaintiff loses, it'll never change.

We'll see. I'm still considering their job offer. Two expired movie tickets and a handwritten voucher for one free massage from @AggiesAreWe. IF, and it's a big IF, I turn it down, then they might hire one of these fancy coaches from out of town.

To me it feels like she's looking for someone to sue, and my guess is the city of Beaumont or BPD for those deep pockets. But to me, even if the guy was in the grass, there were signs saying no ATVs. It would be like someone suing the city because their kid died in a car accident where they got hit by someone going 70 in a 50. It's not the city's fault they broke the law. But yeah, it's really feeling like she's looking for $$, especially bringing in QX.

Going to be very interesting to see if George Ranch drops down to 5A-D1 for the upcoming alignment now that Richmond Randle is opening? Randle is only three miles from George Ranch which probably means GR will take a bigger hit than Rosenberg Terry and Lamar Con. Katy Paetow is projected to have an enrollment close to 2,800 kids so I expect them to move up to 6A and the new school Katy Jordan to replace them. Manvel is on the borderline and will probably barely make the 6A cutoff but if they don't you're potentially looking at a 10-5A-D1 consisting of; Manvel, George Ranch, Foster, Angleton and Hightower. Unrelated - 15+ years ago when I was going to school in the Dallas area we used to consider Frisco the sticks. I believe they only had two high schools in town. By the end of 2022 Frisco ISD will have 12 high schools with at least a 5A enrollment in an area smaller than Crosby ISD's attendance zone. I was going to one of my son's games a couple years ago and turned into Frisco Heritage High School. I didn't see any players so I asked if I was at the right field at which time I was told "No, you're looking for Frisco Independence". Independence was one block away. Both are 5A-D1. That's what type of suburban growth the larger schools in SETX are competing with.

Today almost everyone makes the playoffs. Any decent team ought to win a first round game in their sleep. Its that easy. First round opponents are usually pushovers. In the last five years BH has had one 2nd round win. One. Two years of TW's five, they missed the playoffs entirely. Its that the goal if you hire supposedly the most elite coach in the state? Who said "Metroplex HS Football and southeast Texas football are similar" anyway? I never hear that at all.

Rules are rules, however a change in rules should be considered, like approved sashes for military, university choice, etc.

As an outsider looking in, I think this was all a bunch of hog wash. I could be dead wrong, but I don’t think any coach would whip a kid for bad squats. There’s just no way that even happened. It looks like to me that a bunch of parents got pissed that their little babies were getting coached hard. That kind of crap is the reason we’re where we are in society today. JMO

Porters first year Lumberton won one game. Last year, after three years, Lumberton won 17 games and lost out on the playoffs on the last game of the season. Porter had that program headed in the right direction with young players coming back. I don't know what the new AD is looking for, but the program was successful under Porter. Good luck Josh.
