before Surratt got there Carthage made the finals once losing to A&M Consolidated in 1991 before that they made the State Semifinals just once in program history losing to Lubbock Estacado in the 1983 Semifinals. For those who have never seen Carthage in person play for a state title it's a little difficult to describe other than to say Carthage is on a whole different level than the team they are playing. There's a reason why Coach Surratt is undefeated in State Championship games and the Television just doesn't do it justice.

Assuming that it was that the three in the car from mid county that were going to do the robbery and not the other way around, yes they would need to bring the marijuana. You have to put the carrot in front of the horse to make him run. When they pull up to pick up the black kid, yeah there better be something inside that car that looks like marijuana and darn sure smells like marijuana before he is getting you to go to another location or just sit in a parking lot to make a deal. They are all suspicious of each other and on edge. If you were going to lure someone into a trap, you had better bait. I don’t think that is probably what happened however you cannot negate that possibility. Heck, the three could’ve had the idea to make a drug deal and then halfway there changed their mind and hatched a plan to instead of selling drugs, to go ahead and just do a robbery and be done with it. One of the things I learned in almost 4 decades of law-enforcement, if you think you know what happened before you start the investigation, you’re probably going to screw it up and miss evidence one way or the other.

The last two coaches showed up six rings between them and outside of TW getting to the third round once, they haven't really been able to do anything with BH's personnel. Abseck is showing up with only one ring and a very good argument can be made that the team he took over in 2015 when he won his title was built by Joe Willis who left for Colleyville Heritage after CP's 2014 loss in the title game to Ennis. No doubt had BH not hired TW previously the chatter would've been just like it was when he made the jump. I think the "alumni" are just seeing more rinse and repeat from BH so it's not as big a deal as it once was. If TW with all of his clout and connections couldn't get it done then I don't think many are expecting much more from Abseck. Great hire by BH, just like TW was but the underlying issue is that whoever BH hires can still only work with what he's been given. CP only has about 250 more kids than BH but there's a drastic difference in talent Abseck is going to have to prove he can overcome.

The more I look at Abseck, the more impressed I am. Also want to say great job by BH for reaching to the outside to find a great candidate, and not making a good old boy, nepotism type hire. With all the growth in place, I think the Eagles can do very well in the years ahead.

It’s coming. You can go to the bank. I try to understand gay folks. I think some are born to it, while others choose it. What I’ll never understand is why they take such pride in it. Imo, it’s less pride and more “in your face”. Some years back, my wife & daughter visited my SIster-in-Law just outside SF. The gays walked around with their hands on each other’s behinds. That’s total BS. Just because you interview them doesn’t mean you have to hire them. Why are you so prejudiced? Goodness know you know about discrimination, yet you think it’s ok to discriminate against non black races. Do you think that they should also be required to interview Mexicans, Chinese, Indians or other people of color or are you satisfied as long as a black person gets interviewed. What about women? This is an interesting case. Three teens from groves ended up killing a teen from Silsbee during a drug deal gone bad. I finally found an article (not the one posted, it was on fb) that stated what happened. The three teens bought a felony amount of weed in Beaumont, then went to Silsbee to sell some to the victim. Two teens (Bryce Pfeffer and Emily Ranols) sat in the backseat of the car, while the other seller (still unidentified) and the buyer (Jeremiah Grant) sat in the front. During the transaction Grant shot the unidentified seller in the chest in an attempt to rob him, and was shot by Pfeffer after. This sounds like self-defense, but that’s not a valid defense when you’re committing a felony, although I wouldn’t be surprised if it affects sentencing somewhat. On a side note, there was a lot of speculation that the female was in the wrong place at the wrong time. There was a lot of sympathy because she’s Pfeffer’s pregnant girlfriend, and people (myself included) thought she was probably in the wrong place at the wrong time. According to the special Angel San Juan report I saw, she was armed with a gun as well, so she now gets no sympathy from me. She was clearly heavily involved.

I pretty much think the same. I can see where it would be a very fun game to play but not to watch. There are other sports that people who are not into it would consider boring and I get that. I like to play golf and sometimes I like to watch golf, when it’s a big tournament and some of the big-name players on on the leaderboard. The fact that someone who does not like golf would think it’s boring, I completely understand. There is very little action. I cannot stand NASCAR. I think it would be like some people watching golf or me watching soccer. If I had the option of watching an entire NASCAR race or changing a flat on someone’s car, I would choose changing the flat. Watching the cars go around the same cycle for an hour is not appealing. An apparently very popular sport with some people loving it. I’m glad that it exist and so many people pleasure from watching. I just think it’s boring. And likewise, I think soccer is boring.

We'll see. I'm still considering their job offer. Two expired movie tickets and a handwritten voucher for one free massage from @AggiesAreWe. IF, and it's a big IF, I turn it down, then they might hire one of these fancy coaches from out of town.

Besides West Sabine, I don’t think any of the 2A schools in our area were ever given any respect or consideration for the state rankings. Rankings don’t mean anything to the coaches, but the boys love seeing their school listed. With the schedule they played early I knew they would have a good playoff run.
