I spent 4 days in New Orleans and if I didn't know better, I would of thought weed was legal there. People were smoking outside of our hotel (Embassy Suites on Julia), smoking walking around Jackson Square, and smoking outside of bars on Bourbon Street.....Cops apparently have bigger fish to fry..... I will say this.....I had a great trip and felt safe at all times........

I could care less about hairstyles honestly, but I grew up in Beaumont. I'm sure some traditional people around here care, but it doesn't bother me. This afternoon Governor Abbott signed into law that on September 1 this year, people in Texas can openly or concealed carry a handgun without any license. Let the shootouts begin on that day...... as so many of the comments I have seen. Of course they said the same thing in 1995 when the CHL law was passed, about 12 years ago when you could be in carry a handgun in a vehicle without a license and four years ago when open carry was allowed with an LTC.

I don't think most people will stay home. Watching live on the computer isn't comparable to the real thing, and if someone cares enough about the game to have a Texan Live subscription, they care enough to physically be at the game if they are able (not to mention that they care enough about the game to try to watch even though the streaming is often cut off, frozen, or lagging - Streaming is often not for the lazy fans, but for dedicated fans). I suspect most people streaming live are doing so because they otherwise wouldn't be able to go to the game. Or, it's people who weren't even considering going to the game but might want to watch. In both of those groups, no potential game-goer was removed from the stadium - It actually grows the list of people who watch the game because without streaming neither of those groups watches at all. I agree there is likely a third group that consists of people who might have otherwise gone to the game but choose to stream at home, but I don't expect that would be a significant number to appreciably reduce revenues, particularly if the schools are able to charge for the streaming somehow. But, in fairness, it would be interesting to try to come up with an estimate of game attendance vs streaming from year to year so see if you're correct. All of that being said, by choosing to stream last year I missed out on the radio color commentary, and I think the PNG guys do a really good job. I wish the 92.5 team would just do a video with their commentary to radio (for the radio crowd) so we can watch the streams with the PNG guys (or, with whatever team does it for the team you support -- I know Nederland, Silsbee, and West Orange have well-established radio broadcasts every Friday).

I have seen plenty of athletic teams use this to their advantage over the years. Andre Boutte was the master of it. He would stall in the 3rd quarter if he had a 5 point lead.

I think that the key is that people remember that their beliefs are exactly that.... theirs. If I believe it's sinful, what I really need to remember is that what I actually believe is that it's wrong for ME to participate. Not that I need to make sure that nobody else participates. By the other token, people who DO believe that homosexuality isn't immoral need to remember that a lot of people DO believe that it is. Going around trying to convince people to change THEIR belief systems to match yours seldom works, regardless of whose beliefs are being challenged.

While that is helpful, I don’t think it’s inclusive of all minority scholarships. Additionally, a minority can go to ANY university and get a minority-based scholarship.

It’s a strategy often deployed by teams that don’t have equal athletes. Been part of the game forever. I personally am not a fan of stalling the basketball but it’s up to the defensive team to adjust. High school basketball doesn’t need a shot clock

Coach Porter did a pretty good job this year, his group won 18 games with a pretty young group if I’m mistaken. He also worked hard and the players respected him just by watching those kids play hard for him.

Having said all that in my previous post, I'm pretty sure Lovejoy beats yall last year. Just my .02 cents. Several other teams give yall a very good game. So I wouldnt get too comfortable on that superiority trip. Plus, if we're all being honest, if LH gets a clean handoff they win. That kid would have scored standing up.

Alvin HS is the Lee HS of Alvin ISD. Rich history and traditions, but newer schools are taking over.

BH doesn’t have a rule for dreadlocks. However that is all the race baiters report on. Their rule is against long hair, there are many hairstyles other than dreadlocks that fall in that category.

I personally feel they are trying to get acceptance by attention, which is fine. I don't like when people are accused of being homophobic when stating they disagree with that lifestyle. One could say it's harder to live up to the expectations than no expectations. One also could say Sigler could have warranted the COY. Lost 90% of his scoring from last year, started 2 freshmen, 2 soph., 1 senior, with the bulk of the team that saw significant playing time being freshmen and soph. Took the team to the regional finals once again (7th straight year) defeating a heavily favored Houston Yates team along the way. Two of their district losses due to having to play the JV in those games because of Covid. You could say Lumberton benefited from a terrible DEC decision. IMO, if Silsbee doesn't have to play their JV in those games, they win district. Again, just think Green deserved it more.
