Think the dunk count for the Midway game was 2-2. Not bad considering Midway looked like they had 4 kids who were 10 feet tall. Silsbee played either 7 or 8 kids for this, so a little more than half the team.2 points

[Hidden Content] Some might say this belongs in the sports section. I would contend this is exactly where it belongs. This fauxdemic was always political and the actions taken against these athletes should never be forgotten. We know now that this age demographic was never in danger. Hell these are some of the best athletes in the world. Yet this so called deadly virus, that you need to test for, just to see if you have it, has caused more damage because of the “political” power it has yielded.1 point -

We at SETXSports.com have been toying with the idea of a weekly podcast for high school football. On Tuesday nights 6 to 7:30 PM. The show would feature interviews with coaches, a look back at games played the last week and previews and predictions on games later in the week. We will have our broadcasters available and we will even have time for texted questions. We feel that this could be an enhanced version of our forums. We would need some sponsors to help us get it on the air, but we want to know what you all think and would it be something that you would support?1 point -

Critical race?
baddog reacted to SmashMouth for a topic
First of all, it is a theory, is it not? It centers on the idea that racism is systemic in the nation's institutions and that they function to maintain the dominance of white people in society. The architects of the theory argue that federal law has preserved the unequal treatment of people on the basis of race. Proponents also believe race is culturally invented, not biological. There have been literal volumes written about CRT by its proponents. To simply say, “Critical Race Theory suggests that we teach the true facts about American history. That’s all.” would be disingenuous to say the least. Those who support CRT say it continues to grow and evolve, meaning it’s WAAAAAYYYY more than what you say it is. The tenets of CRT have basically left a back door so that no matter what happens, everything will always be due to race.1 point -

Lovejoy lost a lot but they also gained a lot in the way of newcomers who have moved in from just down the road....keep that in mind...and also Chris Ross gets the benefit of the doubt.... 5A-Division II outside of 3-4 teams is a real crap shoot.....I think the difference between 5 and 20 is minimal at best....I think we are a little too bullish on Liberty Hill as well..but R4 gives them a shot to get it rolling...thats also why Rouse is rated so highly1 point -

Lancaster took forever and a day to hire its new head coach, which was bad business with open enrollment schools like Desoto/Cedar Hill/Duncanville swarming like buzzards. Idk exactly what Lancaster has coming back, but I think they'll take a decent step back and won't be an elite 5A D1 team this season. Still will be good just bc of the pure talent running through the school though.1 point -

They really do have a good cheer squad and they are usually at the top at UiL. There female sports soccer and basketball is the only history the school really has. I went by there baseball stadium while back and it’s kinda sad to see there playoff history in baseball. I’m not here bashing Lumberton. But when you are the 3rd largest school in 4a I’d expect to be a little better1 point -

Local Officer Arrested DUI
bullets13 reacted to thetragichippy for a topic
That is easy to say, probably politically correct to say, but I personally think a bad assumption. Lets say a single stay at home Mom who has not had a break in a year decides to have a well deserved ladies night out. Goes to dinner and has 3 strong drinks in a hour or so, and makes the decision she can drive home. On the way she reaches down to answer her phone and swerves a little, a cop see's this, pulls her over and she blows over the legal limit....... Is she an irresponsible Mother? I don't think so, she may have made it home fine had she not swerved. I've been pulled over for swerving completely sober.....lol I dropped my phone and was trying to pick it up.1 point -

Probably not a good assumption. High stress job with your life on the line. Doesn’t mean you don’t do your job well, you just have a hard time with life sometimes. Same goes with the military.1 point -
I started to post my response but I will use your post as a nexus and yes you are probably correct, it sure did not help him. Money laundering is a crime. Money laundering under Texas law is to possess money with intent to commit a crime or were the proceeds from a crime. The man in the article was arrested for money laundering. He was not taken into custody for possession of money or the money was not seized for a civil forfeiture. To justify an arrest and a seizure of money for evidence the officers had to have probable cause which is under the 4A to the United States Constitution. Probable cause is a reasonable belief by a person of caution, who knows the facts that the officer knows at the time of the arrest or search, that will lead the person to believe that a crime it’s probably happening or has happened. So what do we know about this case going strictly by the article? Will these facts make a reasonable person believe that a crime has likely happened or about to happen? Probable cause is a looking at the totality of the circumstances and not any single item which in itself might be legal. 1. A traffic stop was made IH10. 2. The driver was from South Carolina so at least several hundred miles from home. 3. The article says the officer spoke with him and he gave indications that something was up. I’m going to speculate that he was overly nervous or simply gave an answer that made absolutely no sense. Either of the situations might not mean much alone however I can give inference that a crime has been committed. This is especially true if you’re caught in a lie. 4. Due to these indications a narcotics dog was brought to the scene. 5. The dog alerted on the vehicle meaning it is very likely there were drugs for in the vehicle or had recently been in the vehicle. 6. A search of the vehicle with probable cause let’s do the discovery of almost $1 million in cash. 7. A check of the man’s record shows that he has not only been arrested but been convicted for drug charges, possibly selling drugs. We do not know what the guy said that tipped the officers off that something was up but I’m sure it will be on camera. Also unlike the sidewalk lawyers on Facebook, a warrant is not needed to search a vehicle on the roadway. The United States Supreme Court has ruled that waiting for a warrant on the side of the road was unreasonable so a warrant was not needed for a vehicle. The 4A to the Constitution guarantees the right against “unreasonable” searches and seizures. They have ruled that is not unreasonable to search it vehicle without a warrant. A warrant might take two or more hours and it would be unreasonable to believe the suspect will still be sitting there waiting for the cop two hours later. So the officers very likely had probable cause to make the stop, the search and ultimately arrest the suspect. It was not a single fact that the guy had cash on him. Out of curiosity and honesty, with the seven things that I just listed, how many people believe this guy was just riding down the road with almost $1 million cash or if he had just made a drug transaction or was in route to a drug transaction?1 point

Yes professional courtesy does still exist however breaks still exist across the board. I stopped a guy one night going 85 miles an hour in a 35 mile an hour zone on a motorcycle about 2 AM. There was no one in the vicinity and he quickly pulled over. I told him to slow down and he almost passed out. If I am going to give a person I don’t know a break for 50 miles an hour over the speed limit, why would I give another police officer a citation for going 15 miles an hour over? I stopped at car one night speeding and then it went through a red light at about 30 miles an hour. By the time I pull the car over a few blocks away, it was pulling into the back of the hospital. It was a doctor on the way to an emergency so she was naturally in a hurry. The law on speeding actually allows doctors going to an emergency the ability to speed as if an emergency vehicle without receiving a citation just as it does for police officers. It does not give them the authority to run red lights and especially at 30 miles an hour. I did not write her a citation out of professional courtesy. It was early in the morning and there was no traffic and she could see that it was clear. Should I have written her a citation? I am sure there are people that are angry that I allowed her to go with a warning while they might have received a citation in the same situation. With discretion, that’s just the way it is. Like in your situation, I and most other officers simply handle the problem at the same if given the chance. For every person arrested or given a citation they are probably 15 others that were given a break.1 point

CARL ABSECK NAMED NEW AD/HFC AT BARBERS HILL

Lol, every year we're supposed to be worst than the previous one because X kids graduated. Remember the Twins graduating and how bad we were supposed to be before we went to the semis the next year? Remember when Rio left we were supposed to be awful? "Crosby's little run is over" was the main comment I heard. As our community grows the deeper the talent pool we have to choose from which was pretty evident if you watched our Spring game the other day. We don't have hair rules so we can also accept all-state transfers like Reggie Branch who has dreads. We're getting bigger and even faster as seen with our 4x100 state title a few weeks ago. Long as we have a competent coach we're going to be competitive given the athletes that the community produces. Not to mention we just care more. It doesn't matter if you see it this year though, you dang sure didn't see it before last season and we got to the finals. If we end up like Dayton it's because we'll be in 6A. Dayton ended up in the situation they're in now because they think like Dayton. Crosby wouldn't hire a guy who hasn't coached in 5 years and give him the keys to the entire athletic program. As long as we don't have more financial issues or catastrophic injuries like '18, what you saw from Crosby in the '19 season is probably our floor now which are second round losses. Crosby only has two first round losses in a decade+ and those were to teams with generational talents for their schools like MQ and RJ. Crosby can be a better overall team this year and still lose to FB Marshall in the 3rd round. Won't be a knock on us at all, 90% of the teams that make it to Dallas have to have the stars align. I think Crosby being viewed as average by mediocre teams like BH is part of what drives our kids and coaching staff to separate from that mediocrity. I guarantee when offseason workouts start next week they'll be even more intense than last year's and you won't hear a peep out of the kids or parents. I personally love it because I can feed information like this to my son, who's coming off a broken leg, about how his class is supposed suck and maybe get that squat up to 500lbs before he enters his sophomore year in the fall.1 point -
