  7. I could care less about this female and had never heard of her before her little stunt. Kaepernick was a QB who had some success until he wanted to right his perceived wrongs. I could care less about him. If you do not like your lot in life work your butt off to change it. No one (unless you are rich or win the lottery) is going to hand you or give you anything. It is a privilege to live here in this country.

  9. I think you may be conflating "can they" with "will they." Can they? Of course they can. There is no legal impediment to the USOPC dismissing her from the Olympic team? Will they? Which I think is what you are getting at. Sadly, you are probably right. In an age where corporate virtue signaling is cool, the committee would probably, privately anyway, figure that the hit in PR that it shouldn't, but will, receive and potential loss of funding from the virtue signaling corporations isn't worth it. They will then justify keeping her by some statement that is, in itself, virtue signaling.

  10. I was working one night but did not go to the scene and will not mention the location but we had such a horrific accident. A vehicle left the roadway at a very high rate of speed and hit several trees. Talking to the officers who responded, they were body parts all over including like a piece of a foot. The way it was described, it was like some I had hit a guy’s foot about 3 inches behind the toes with an axe. This partial foot flew several feet away from the vehicle or what was left of the vehicle. We had a motorcycle chase one night that I was involved in and the motorcycle hit a police car head on. The patrol car was stopped in the middle of Gulfway Drive and the suspect was looking over his shoulder at the cars chasing and did not notice the patrol car until it was too late. He laid the bike down but slammed into the car and his arm bones went into the radiator. After EMS left, we found a piece of his radius or ulna at the scene of the accident. I have found an eyeball in high grass in a fatal accident about 30 feet away from where the body landed. I could recount a few more that I have personally seen but I could understand why you might not find all body parts, especially small ones. I understand that the family gets upset but nobody intentionally ignored a piece of a body. From the pictures of this accident, it was worse than any I have personally seen and that is saying something.

  16. [Hidden Content] Some might say this belongs in the sports section. I would contend this is exactly where it belongs. This fauxdemic was always political and the actions taken against these athletes should never be forgotten. We know now that this age demographic was never in danger. Hell these are some of the best athletes in the world. Yet this so called deadly virus, that you need to test for, just to see if you have it, has caused more damage because of the “political” power it has yielded.

  19. Write-up from when they hired him says so. Love to see guys get opportunities at solid programs. My younger cousin, who's also a UT grad, just got bumped up to co-offensive coordinator at Odessa Permian and one of my college teammates just got the head coaching job at Bishop Lynch. Another former Crosby assistant, DJ Mann, was named HFC at Lubbock Coronado who went 12-1 last year. Very pleased to see some administrations branching out from what are probably their normal hiring pools.

  22. On many topics, in many forums and from many political views extreme right to extreme left I have seen this comment. I have never seen a single person ever claim that someone does not have a right to protest. That is a perfect example of a straw man argument. “Well she the right!!”. Yes and I have never seen anyone say otherwise. No, turning your back on the flag in protest is not the most American thing you can do. If that premise is true, then being an atheist is the most American thing you can do. Why? Because you have that same First Amendment right to have or not have any religion. Let’s imagine a person saying, “I think anyone who believes in God is an idiot and you might as well believe in the Tooth Fairy!”. Our response should be, “Wow, that is the most American thing I have ever heard. This man upheld two of his First Amendment rights in one sentence”? So when someone says, I think North Korea is awesome and we also should go to a dictatorship. Anyone that does not agree should be punished by having their entire family placed in prison just like in North Korea, even if the rest of the family does not agree. PAMFAM…. Man that’s the most American thing….. Uhhhh, no it’s not.

  23. This is the whole thing in a nutshell. She should not represent this country (you and me) against the world if she feels oppressed. How can someone oppressed be on an Olympic team? Her name was not drawn out of a hat. This country has committed a lot of time, effort, and MONEY for her to be where she is today. I guess if she didn’t make the team, she would cry racism, since the white girls seem to be better. That’s gratitude for you.

  24. Many people are saying she don't. She could clear it up if she wanted, so it appears to me she does not want it cleared up. I agree she has a right to peaceful protest, just not when representing me

  25. It’s not up to her to prove she love this country. She’s entitled to peacefully protest as she see’s fit. You in return can feel however you choose to feel about it.

  29. I think that the chief had no choice but to respond like that. To say anything else would be crude. What else can you say? We can understand the feelings from the family however this is a complete unknown. It is not like they can reconstruct the bodies on the side of the road and see what parts may or may not be missing. Are they looking for two pieces of body parts? 12? There simply is no way to know and how big are those pieces? If there was some chart when you arrived on scene and it said, there are eight pieces of human body scattered in various locations and the smallest is approximately one inch square, we would have something to go by. When I say this is a complete unknown, it is a complete unknown. It was about 30 years ago and I was not working at that scene fortunately, but we were working a shooting did not find an entire body until the next day. It was late at night and he ran maybe 100 feet and fell into some heavy bushes. The person that shot wasn’t sure if he hit the guy, which way the guy ran, how far he ran, if he fell, kept going, etc. It is easy to criticize when you have no clue what you’re even looking for.

  33. Straw man? I see a lot of straw man arguments in this and other forums. Giving the analogy that you can fire a Walmart employee for bad mouthing Walmart just like you can kick her off of the Olympic team is not a straw man.

  34. Yep. Everybody has a right to protest in “almost” any manner that they wish and to be free from government interference. That free from interference does not apply to private organizations, companies, individuals, etc. I said almost any manner because they were always “fighting words” that could be held as unlawful as noted in Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire. The right of freedom of speech, religion, assembly and the press comes with imitations.

  36. If I understand article, she agreed to the conservatorship because of her mental health issues. According to the article it appears that she still has them. The way the article describes her court statement, she went on some rambling diatribe with a bunch of profanity and changing thought processes frequently. This is like a mock statement by Spears to prove she is capable of taking care of herself… ”I am okay, you know, like… I cry a lot, am depressed… and y’all are a bunch of $&8/ €>¥+s!! If you had seen what I saw, uhhh, the fish are biting in Lake Tahoe but I am not allowed to get pregnant… so, uhhh , like…. 38. Yea, playing to the media and heart strings..... Seems to me, if she wants to spend all of her money on dresses, make-up, airplanes or Lego's, she should be able to make that choice. If she goes broke on bad decisions, she would not be the first or last. If she lives alone or not under anyone's control, she does not seem to be a threat to her or anyone.......She lives in America and is not really "free"......kinda sad IMO

  39. I’ll say it since nobody’s considering it.. there’s a certain time when it’s no longer legal for teachers to get out of their current contract. For some schools.. that date may be passed. Since he left so late, it’s likely going to cause the next AD/HC to be stuck with the football coaching staff that’s there. I know a lot of times they like to bring their own coordinators. Plus more. I mean.. it’s practically July. Food for thought.. that might deter some.

  40. That is a good question. I’d think most years at HD (or any very small school with limited numbers for that matter) it’s more difficult to pull off running a spread offense due to personnel (capable OL and QB namely). I think with the experience and athleticism of Sellers at QB (20 or so starts at QB as a FR/SO) and the kids they’ll have on the line, Bird could pull it off. Now they won’t look like Jasper, but they definitely have some playmakers that can do damage in space. With that said, I think this late in the game (will be July before arriving) they’d stick with the Slot-T or some variation of it. Most if not all of the current coaching staff will remain which is another chip towards sticking with the old offense. Plus Bird knows it and ran it at HD in years past. It’s hard to install a new offense period….. much less one that’s complex…. With limited time…. And with little or no assistant coaches familiar with it. Just my $.02

  41. I’ll be the 1st to tell you, I gave Hodges a hard time in the past when it was needed, I also praised him when it was deserved. As the keeper of the gates, a 5th generation Bobcat, it’s my responsibility. Stan Hodges was my coach at HD back in the 90’s, I supported and voiced my support of him coming back to HD as HC/AD, I talked with board members, talked with parents and the community, I was there to congratulate Stan as he was hired. Stan Hodges is like a dad to me, heck the man has stayed under my roof a time or two, sons and dads fight sometimes yes, I”ll say this, Coach Hodges done his job with integrity and never wavered in his stance to graduate young men of good character, that are trustworthy. HD was not a dominate team on the field that often under Hodges, but HD was respected as a program and definitely held its own. I will miss you Coach Hodges, we have both spent many years as Bobcats, it’s a special place, one of the best small school coaching jobs in the State. The new HC/AD will inherit a very talented young team, Dawson Victorian the stud Sophomore has D-1 talent and freakish size, has the potential to be all-state as a Sophomore, Junior Landyn Sellers, Junior Landon Victorian and Senior Cayden Weeks will led HD to a playoff push, HD’s O-line will be the best we have had in many years. I definitely voiced my support of two men many years ago, to get the HD job, one was Stan Hodges, the other was my former HD Bobcat teammate Randy Birdwell, I hope Coach Bird gets an opportunity this time around, to become the HC/AD at his Alma Mater. From what I’m hearing there is a long list of candidates, it shouldn’t be a surprise, after all HD folks love their football! Good luck at Odessa Coach, I’m sure I’ll come visit, ride for the brand! HD Nation! Sincerely, Mr. Bobcat

    This Board Needs....

A study conducted by UCLA's Department of Psychiatry has revealed that thekind of face a woman finds attractive on a man can differ depending onwhere she is in her menstrual cycle. For example: If she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged andmasculine features. However, if she is menstruating, or menopausal, shetends to be more attracted to a man with duct tape over his mouth and aspear lodged in his chest.

I like a good play on words. Not smart enough to come up with them, but appreciate those who are. This from Ogden Nash (American Poet, died in 1979). I am a conscientious man, when I throw rocks at seabirds I leave no tern unstoned. Lol, good stuff there.

  46. The UIL is just like the NCAA in terms of consistency. Article lays it out perfectly. At the district level you’re left with rival coaches, who may be swayed by how good or bad the team receiving the transfer is, deciding eligibility of a player. At the state level you’re left with the UIL making a judgement decision on why a player may have moved from one parent’s house to another. In what other instance would you allow someone who knows nothing about the situation to tell you why YOUR child came to live with you? As long as the parents don’t implicitly state the child moved for athletic purposes then whatever reason they give should suffice and therefore grant the kid immediate eligibility. The schools that have it figured out have it so figured out that the policing of other schools creates even more of an advantage for them.

  47. I don’t think anyone on this site will argue the fact that I’m one of the more progressive folks on this forum. That said, this is absurd. I don’t care if a grown man wants to become a woman, and I don’t care what they do or do not do to their body to become one. I don’t care if they get married, or who they marry (as long as it’s a consenting adult and not a child or a platypus or something). When they get married they should be able to get insurance for their spouse. But I draw the line at allowing transgender women to compete against biological women. Allowing a tiny fraction of a percent of the population step on the rights of half the population for the sake of “fairness” is inherently unfair. This dude (lady) was a mediocre male powerlifter before he changed to a she. Now she’s shattering world records. Activists claim there’s no unfair advantage. The numbers show otherwise. There are several examples out there of mediocre male athletes transitioning to women and then dominating competitions, and often setting new records. Surely that’s obvious proof that there’s an advantage? If we want to include transgenders in the Olympics, have a transgender competition. If not, keep them out.

  48. Word! Why aren't people scrutinizing BU and PAM etc. about their lack of athletic diversity? Why aren't people scrutinizing the constantly unsuccessful Hispanic HISD teams about their lack of diversity? You never hear any of that. I don't know why EVERYTHING has to be about race, but if it really, really does, lets take a hard look: 6A-I: Westlake 52 (almost all white) Southlake Carroll 34 (almost all white) 6A-II Katy 51 (mostly white but call it Mixed) Cedar Hill 14 (all black) 5A-I Denton Ryan 59 (mostly black) Cedar Park (mostly white) 14 5A-II Aledo 56 (almost all white) Crosby 21 (mixed) 4A-I Argyle 49 (all white?) Lindale 21 (mixed) 4A-II Carthage 70 (mixed) Gilmer 14 (mixed) On top of that, the two 3A Champs, Jim Ned and Canadian were all white So your 8 winners in the 4 largest classifications are White or mostly white - 5 teams Mixed - 2 teams Black - 1 team Bottom line is, white teams did very well in 2020-21 but almost anyone can win in any year. So, why are people sooo compelled to pick apart the "white teams" but stay stone cold silent on all black and all hispanic teams that don't win big? Lets put race aside. Let BH be BH, let BU be BU, and let everyone else just be who they are without racial judgment. Lets put race aside just enjoy the games!
