[Hidden Content] So the SCOTUS rules for the new Arizona Voting Laws. Dems response, Stack the Court. Essentially, the Dems want to control the Supreme Court, making it an arm of the Democratic Party. What’s their main objection to the Law? Law says, if a person votes in the wrong precinct, the vote is invalid. Dems response, minorities will have trouble knowing where to vote. The translation of that, minorities are to stupid to figure out where to vote. If I were a minority, I’d be raging mad that Dems thought so little of my intelligence. What say you @Big girl?4 points

But I have been called the n word with a strong r many times I have be mistreated by the police enough times I’ve had friends who have to give me the .. so my dad or grandpa is kinda racist talk before visits. Some milk it some don’t. I know my reality is truth. People love bringing up slavery was so long ago. But just recently in the 60s people was bombing churches hanging folks refusing to let blacks dine in restaurants. I say recently as the 60s because my mom was born in the 60s making it only one generation away from that. What do you think them folks taught there kids. And even then in the 60s it was blacks just complain to much.3 points -

For me it's watching those old guys who are barely able to stand but still doing so proudly for the anthem. It's Bob Dole struggling to stand and salute John McCain's casket. It's the belief that we're all a part of something that's much bigger than we are as individuals. It's recognizing the mistakes of the past and re-committing to make sure that "for all" really means for all. But if you hate America I can understand why you'd kneel.2 points -

Question: If a student signs a NIL (name, image and likeness) contract, will the university that has provided them the platform to earn such a contract while they are still in college be entitled to ask for all or part of the scholarship money that they provided back?2 points -
I think the NCAA is about as corrupt as it can possibly be but I also think there will be some wild stories in the future when these young guys start getting crazy money. I just think back to what I would have done with crazy money at 18-22 years old.2 points

For me, not Smash... It's two-pronged. We're (well, most of us) were taught from an early age to shut our mouths, close our eyes, and bow our heads when somebody is praying, and we're taught to stand and remove our hats when they play the anthem. It's just a sacred thing, I guess. I get the same feeling watching players "protest" during the anthem that I do when I see someone burning our flag. An analogy would be someone that talks during a moment of silence to prove a point... Kap is trying to win support for his argument by basically disrespecting a lot of peoples' deeply held values. I can't explain it. The whole black power fist doesn't bother me at all, other than thinking "meh... it kinda mars your moment of accomplishment, but whatever." Secondly, as a human with a business degree, it makes literally no sense to insult your customers. I mean, everybody likes a bad guy in pro wrestling, but I don't think that's what Kap was trying to do by protesting. We do a little PR work, and I promise that if I decided to bring my own personal beliefs on any subject into the workplace and my end result was to drive off business.... I shouldn't be surprised if the boss lets me go. It's just common sense. The idea that you take a giant dump on most of your employers' customers and therefore find yourself without a place to work, except you once again blame "racism" as the reason is just unfathomable. And it detracts from the original argument, that there is still injustice and oppression. Because the fact that no NFL team can use you because your actions alienated so many of their fans isn't racism.... it's just stupidity.2 points -

BISD Raise & Stipend
5GallonBucket reacted to bullets13 for a topic
Yup. But they don’t want to pay them anything. Makes it tough I wholeheartedly agree with your first comments. Teachers now have to worry about standardized testing so much that they’re limited in how and what they can teach. I don’t have issues with some performance based pay, but you’re saying that every child in every class must raise their grades for me to get a raise? Like if I teach high school and one of my kids starts using drugs, or gets pregnant, or their parents split, or they decide they just don’t care anymore, or they get stuck up their new girlfriends’ butt, or they make varsity football and have less time to study than last year, (I could literally list 100 more reasons a kid’s grades could dip outside of a teacher’s control) etc. etc., and their average drops even one point, I don’t get a raise? That’s irrational. That’s kinda like denying a raise to a boss of 100 employees because ONE of them doesn’t meet his performance standards. And of course, teachers can’t fire their students, nor do they get to choose them.1 point -

It's not about what you have stated. It's about accomplishment that are good for America and policies that damage America. One example: Trump had the border under control. In about two months, Joebama's policies have allowed an invasion of illegals that includes the drug cartel and criminals. Which one do you think you right for America. BTW, if you wish, I can discuss policies with you going back to, but not limited to, Jimma Carter.1 point -

Historians. Hahaha!!! Let’s refresh our memory. Obama in his first election and apparently some people thought he was the Messiah, got 69 million votes. His popularity waned and he got 65 million votes in his reelection, one of only two presidents in history ever to lose votes in a reelection campaign. So we move on to the 2016 election of Trump got 63 million votes. In his reelection bid he got 74 million votes or 5 million more votes than Obama did in his best run. In fact Trump’s vote total increased by an astonishing 11 million votes. Yes Biden supposedly won but how do you do ignore that Trump after what the “historians” claim is a failed presidency, increased his vote totals by 11 million votes? Until the possibly manufactured Covid crisis, Trump had one of the most significant economy increases in history, the lowest black unemployment in history, etc. Exactly what criteria are these claim historians determining the best president throughout history? Did Covid according to the historians, make him a bad president?1 point

Both fantastic points. Uncle Sam will definitely want a 30-35% cut. As for the universities I think they will honor the scholarships due to the revenue they will still make, but it would not surprise me if they don't press for something in court. I'm far too dumb to guess what it may be though lol1 point -

In an 8-1 decision The Supreme Court ruled in Mahanoy School District v. Levy that off-campus actions by a student (cheerleader candidate) not on school time or at a school function, did not give the school authority to take action. Basically the First Amendment protects a student away from school. But like the last case I noted, not so fast. On the face of it it looks like a very clear ruling that anything you do away from school on your own time, the school has no authority. But when you read the case that is not what it said. In this case the girl did not make the cheerleading squad and made a Snapchat comment to a friend in a private conversation, said screw the school, screw cheerleading, screw softball, etc…. Except she use the F bomb in place of “screw”. I think she was on the JV cheerleading team, did not make the varsity and the school kicked her off the JV team because of those comments. In the 8 - 1 decision the Supreme Court said that they violated her rights. Again on the face of it it looks like you could make any comment you wish away from school. But then you read the actual decision. In this case the Supreme Court noted that she did not make any threats, no racial slurs, did not directly name any person or even the school. It was just a general of a comment about to screw this and screw that. They ruled that I was absolutely her First Amendment rights and the school had no authority to punish her because of that. It did not negate the school’s ability to punish a person however in such a case. The court simply drew a very narrow authority. If the comment would have named the school or made racial slurs or threatened anyone AND call say significant disruption of school activities, the school might still hold the authority to take action against her. In the actual trial the school brought up that in algebra class her comments were discussed for 5 to 10 minutes for a couple of days and that was it. So the schools significant disruption in school function was one class discussing something for a few minutes and then moving on. That is absolutely a bogus excuse for a significant disruption. The school also brought up that one girl was offended by the comments. That is the very essence of the First Amendment, you can upset people. While this is completely the correct ruling in this situation, the Court very clearly left the option for a school to take action against someone even for an off-campus comment but it had to be significant in disruption of a school function.1 point -

They were a couple of unanimous decisions lately. Being in law-enforcement I really noticed Lange v. CA. What I find really interesting in this one is that I don’t think it says what people think it says. In a very brief statement of what happened, the police tried to stop a guy for a couple of traffic citations and he drove into his garage. They followed him into the garage and issued him a couple of citations. Was that unconstitutional? The interesting part from my opinion since I have read hundreds of cases, the Supreme Court sometimes issues a very narrow ruling and people think that is a final say in all cases. Many time it’s just guidance and very seldom is a bright line rule. It has long been thought that anytime the police are in a pursuit, it is automatically an emergency circumstance, in the past that has pretty much been through. An emergency or exigent circumstance generally relieves the police the requirement to get a warrant (that is an interesting discussion in itself and in such forums as this, I find a lot of people have no clue about court cases and warrants not being needed). In this case the court issued a 9-0 decision, overturning the case… but did not exactly say that the police were wrong. They pretty much said, there are reasons you can follow someone into a home even for a misdemeanor and that 9th circuit did not answer those questions. They simply fell back to the ruling that a pursuit is automatically an emergency. So we are sending it back down to the 9th circuit to determine if it fits our decision. I think that some people will see this decision and say that the police cannot pursue you into a home for a misdemeanor but that is absolutely not what they said. They said the court has to make a determination because it is not always an “emergency”, what are the facts in each particular case. Then there is the issue that in California a citation is not considered a crime but an “infraction” whereas in a state like Texas, a citation is an arrestable offense just as if it was capital murder.1 point -

JAY BUCKNER NAMED NEW AD/HFC AT EVADALE

My Son asked to go to Evadale during his 7th grade year at Lumberton. The only reason he gave me was he heard it was cool. I personally think it was the 7th grade football program at Lumberton. It was so crowded, when he finally got a ball given to him, he ran a 60yard TD and didn't play another down....lol But any way, he started his 8th grade year, and made varsity his 9th grade year and caught 2 interceptions in district games that year. His 10th grade year he was sent back JV by Williams for attitude and being cocky.....Williams made you earn it no matter how good you were.....after two JV games of good behavior, he was starting on varsity. He was certainly accepted by the natives.....he was part of the family. My point to the story was Coach Williams was a tough coach, but an extremely fair coach. Evadale is losing a great coach and mentor to those kids. Good luck coach, I was lucky to have you coach my Son!1 point -

I don't know any Trump supporters that supported the law breaking or the destruction of property. Once they broke the law, they went too far. We have never heard the term insurrection until the Capitol incident. Now, if folks want to run around and repeat Democratic political talking points that's fine, but AT LEAST be honest with yourself and call ALL riots an insurrection. If breaking into the Capitol was an insurrection, than surely chasing cops out of their station, vandalizing and setting it on fire is an insurrection.... or taking over a couple city blocks by force and not allowing cops in, and making up your own laws is an insurrection right? Here is the definition "an act or instance of revolting against civil authority or an established government." my 2 cents....1 point -
