The problem with this story as with almost all of them, it came from the news media. It more than likely came from a press release by the police who released practically nothing any more. Why was the father not armed? The truth is, he might have been. Maybe the father showed up with a handgun but the guy turned and charged the juvenile and the father couldn’t shoot the suspect in the back, fearing hitting his son. That is one of just many “what ifs” but we have no clue what happened. When we say something like, well if I had been there….. In fact what you thought you would do may have been exactly what the father did. The media does not investigate anything, they don’t ask pertinent questions and even though a story might be several paragraphs long, it’s basically just a synopsis. When I was on patrol 25 years ago, if I showed up at a major crime scene there might be literally five reporters in my face asking me detailed questions about what happened. Sometimes I would release information and sometimes not but they were there digging. Now a patrol officer can be on the job for five years and show up at a major crime scene and never see a reporter. In fact most have never even spoken with one or had a question asked, even if the officer was not going to answer. The truth is there is almost no more news reporting. Most new stories are done strictly from police news releases, of which I have written many. I have seen several news stories in print and television media where the report was just copied and pasted from my news release. This is kind of an odd story and it would really be interesting to know what really happened, but we will probably never find out.

I doubt any team Carthage plays this year will put up 40 points. The defense is pretty much the same personnel as last year. With no games played by the complete starting o-line by Carthage, that will be the question to the game. But even with a struggling ground game, they've shown they can still beat a good team.

If you or anyone else knew how many people "medicate" and that what it is, medicating everyday you would be shocked. It would scare the heck out of most people if I took y'all down the rabbit hole of those who medicate on a daily basis and 99.9% of you would never know it. Chances are 50% of the work force is working with someone right now that medicated before work, during their breaks or lunch and when they get home. There is no difference between medicating with cannabis or prescription drugs that people use everyday that contain opioids or Hydrocodone.

Amen. It’s quite possible Jasper could’ve won our District this year. As Carthage proved against Crosby, being in a lower classification doesn’t always mean you’re an easy win.

We've been fortunate this year, for sure. But this will definitely a tough test for us Friday but I like our chances Friday. I think the WO-S scrimmage and the Silsbee game will have us prepared for what Jasper brings. But it's still Jasper and they're probably the most physical team the Pirates they will face all season.

I can buy most of your post but alleging that a Hebert title in 76 had something to do with West Brooks SC in 82 is a stretch. After watching Coach Durley’s South Park Team, where he was OC, I think he deserves a lot of the credit, along with the FP & Hebert players.

But they were allowed to display their talents in the NFL. At one time Beaumont was known for producing the most NFL players. I think there were 13 at the time from Beaumont.

Looking at some of KWP highlights it looks like they started the season with a different QB than the have now. The new starter seems to be young and has a pretty good arm, but doesn’t seem to be a dual threat. Their RB is a bruiser with not a lot of speed , but the boy is thick and will be running up the gut most of the time. KWP always plays well against BH, so I’m not really expecting a blow out. I think BH jumps on them early though then cruises late for the win.

That's because some of our best players wasn't playing in eather of them games. And in the 4th quarter of the Nederland game we didn't even play two of are best receivers. One quit after the game. And coach wouldn't let Brisbane run the ball eather. And Silsbee pretty much totally dominated both games even though they didn't get the W..! And they where really putting it on #10 5A Nederland.

The score will be much lower. 24 to 14 type of game. Nobody scoring 42 points on the Dawg D. Going to be a good ball game.

I just think Orangefield played really well last year against Silsbee. Also I think silsbee team was better last year and Orangefield is better than they were last year
