Hopefully we can put our worries away after this week b/c this is strongest defense we'll face the rest of the season.

I agree 100%. Carthage is ripe for an upset this season. Reminds me of the 2018 Dawgs but our problem is on the opposite side of the ball. In 2018 it was our D that was a liability. In 2021 it is the offense. I think against subpar competition the offense is really good, but I’ll have to see them execute at a high level against a good defense before I’m not worried. They looked unstoppable against Center and I do believe games like that will help them build confidence, but I would love to see them look good this week against Jasper’s D.

Most HS kickers are similar to what my golf game use to be like. Some days the ball would go half way straight and others - slice - hook - and the dreaded shank. On the plus side, never seen one whiff. 😂🤣😂

FB Marshall could play Alief Taylor, FB Ridge Point, Dawson, Shadow Creek, George Ranch, etc. With an enrollment of only like 1,300 I think coach Williams chooses to play a soft schedule in hopes of keep his guys healthy for the playoffs. Most starters only play two quarters during the regular season. He really ain't looking for that kind of smoke in non-district play though.

I agree, the defense will probably be tops in the district when its all said and done! In 3 games with the new DC they are only giving up 14 points a game on the avg. 14 Sterling, 7 ball and 21 Friendswood. Friendswood scored late in the game so it should have been 14 points.

Bad thing is, it’s a night game…. Lol. 😬

They also got 14 pts on defense in the second half on us I believe

BU Basketball program has a proven leader and winner running the program. Yea G is the campus coordinator but he has no say so in the running of the program!! Thats why they are STATE CHAMPIONS!!

Worked with an Engineer who went to a school around Houston. In HS he said he was 210 & played linebacker. Played Tyler (Earl Campbell) in playoffs. Said first time Earl came through the middle he tried to tackle him around the thighs. Claimed it was like trying to tackle an I-beam. He bounced off him like a little kid. 😂 Sorry it’s way off topic but an interesting story.

Lol, for sure. If you’ve read the above post about Sparky Robinson, Worster was similar. He looked (ran) big at BC & UT but I met him & he was just average size. Seems sometimes Mother Nature takes an average size person & gives them extraordinary abilities and strength.

This will be a measuring stick for the Carthage offense. I predict 14-0 or 7-0 and that's going to sting if it happens. If you guys had an offense to go with that defense, an upset wouldnt surprise me. I'd rather lose 30-0. If Carthage scores 30+, I will know our offense is for real. If not, we're still the favorite for state but may get upset if we run into a good defense and an offense who can score a couple of tds

If you're 35 or younger then you probably played on a playoff team every year you went to Crosby except '18. Senior year sucked but junior year went 10-2, undefeated district champs and lost to La Marque in the dome in the second round. Ran for over 1,000 yards, was first team all-district and signed D1. Since you asked though? VHS wasn't as easy to make highlights on back in the day but my son did find this technicolor footage on Youtube while searching for some film of the old man. Dropped over 250 yards on Dickinson in this one but all you need watch is the first play from scrimmage to answer your question:

We always have higher standards right. 3 or 4 rounds is good, but, we strive to do better at WOS. I don't care about the expectations of others schools who may be happy to get that far or get in the playoffs. We have higher standards. I guess it ok for some, but championships are always within reach, if only we adjust our play calling as we move further in the playoff that's all I'm saying.

Foster and Angleton are going to play for that last playoff spot and I think PAM will ultimately get Angleton in the first round. I think it's going to be a tough matchup for PAM though. I know they're running through their district as usual but I think when they line back up against a formidable opponent they're going to have trouble scoring. They don't run the ball consistently enough and rely too much on the big play. Plus the seem very susceptible to being outcoached.

As has been pointed out several times, Vidor wears down the defenses in the 4th Quarter. LCM will want a cushion going into the fourth. If it’s close then, slight advantage Vidor. Like several Pirate games, this could be decided by who scores last. LCM is probably the best team Vidor has faced so far this year. Melon is correct, the Pirate offense needs to be hitting on all cylinders. Vidor’s best defense is keeping the Bear offense off the field. The LCM passing attack will be eating up yards like Pac-Man. The Pirate defense needs to get a pick or two. And for sure, no turnovers by the Pirate offense. If Vidor loses the turnover numbers, they most likely lose the game. Going to be a good one.

Hum.. I wonder if this is why we haven't been advancing in the playoffs more often, doing the same old thing. Teams have scouted for years. Thinking outside the box is creativity. That don't fix it if it broke is old too, its time to show something different. You never know what you have on the sidelines who can make a contribution.

Coach will be working on the fumble fingers bright and early Monday… as long as the Pirates can get rid of the turnovers and can control the clock they should be fine… Sloppy field will play to advantage for The Pirates… Glad to see LCM is back to competitive football… I’ve always had so much respect for that program and community. I think Dayton pulls this one out at home. Broncos will be playing with nothing to lose in hopes of keeping their season alive and Ned will be on the road in what’s basically a must win situation. Dayton is coming off a confidence builder while Ned is coming off a game in which they were shut out offensively. We can point to the TC defense it they’ve given up more points to other teams on their schedule and none of them are over .500. I think Dayton scores enough to take advantage of the issues Ned is having on offense and gets their biggest district win since they beat New Caney in ‘15.
