  4. Coach Harrell at Ennis represents one of the most miraculous comeback stories in all of high school football. He is a close friend of mine and after a debilitating battle with MS, was forced to retire shortly after winning his 2nd state championship at Ennis. After a few attempts at Stem Cell Therapy, he was able to get back into coaching in a limited capacity. Now, he is hopping around like a teenager after being bound to a walker/wheelchair...and back at the school he once retired from. Trust me.. somebody cares. While not relevant to this game specifically, the fact that Ennis is 8-0 with him at the helm again is pretty heroic. Maybe you don't care... but somebody cares. I personally get chill bumps thinking about Ennis even being in these types of conversation.. knowing what I know.

    BH Vs Dayton

Like BH fan said, it's a trap game for them. BH comes in knowing they should roll but if they turn it over a time or two early I can see them tightening up Dayton making a game out of it. The kids from Dayton will be looking to ruin BH's season which is the next thing to a playoff spot for them. Again, BH should roll but sometime that's exactly why it doesn't happen.

    Santa Fe vs Crosby

Really no need for a Crosby thread this week, or for that matter next week. As long as Crosby can squeak by Santa Fe we will play from the pole position in the district no matter what happens at Nederland next week. Prior to the season starting I said Crosby would be better next year than they will be this year. Main reason I said that is because of the talent in the classes coming up the next few years. The juniors like Myles and Womack will be the centerpieces for next year’s squad but if you’re a Crosby fan you should be excited to see the future on the field Friday night. Some of Crosby’s starters will not play and as such you’re going to see a bunch of sophomores and even freshman on the field for homecoming this Friday. List of underclassmen who will be playing Friday night(I think I’m missing at least one more sophomore and possibly another freshman): Offense Kade Eudy(#13) - QB(10) Levi Fontenot (#12) - RB(10) Wesley Yarborough(?) - RB(9) Levi Langley(#60) - OT(10) *May be missing a sophomore offensive lineman here? Defense Tyler LaRive(#25) - LB(10) Jonah Griffen(#27) - LB(10) Copelin Windfont(#42) - LB(9) Brett Wright(#1) - DB(10) Joel(Jojo) Peredes - DB(10) I counted twelve of these kids during my pre-season research which is why I’m pretty sure I’m missing some? These are just the ones I know for sure off the top of my head who will be seeing extended minutes Friday night. There are no kids on the list strictly for size and athletic ability either, besides the two freshman everybody on the list has already produced on varsity this year in their giving reps.

Malcolm was destined to end up in Kansas City. He was part of the Legendary 2007 DAWG baseball State Championship team which lead to him getting drafted his Senior year of 2008 by the Kansas City Royals. Instead, he went and had a GREAT college career at Mcneese State. 2013 Kansas City Chiefs signed him. He played 2 years before going to Chicago for 2 years as well.

With the sequence of events, there is a lot of stuff that amazes me. Even if you were going to use a prop gun to shoot at a range while not filming, why would a loaded firearm be brought back into the set? I have gone shooting hundreds of times. Except for a handgun that I am wearing in a holster for self-defense, they never even go back in my car loaded. All guns are unloaded and the action is open. It seems like some safety personnel including the so-called experts made some obviously horrible decisions. You don’t need to be an expert to follow basic safety protocols. I can see maybe some criminal charges being filed against someone that brought a loaded gun and put it on the set as if it was an unloaded gun if it could be proven.

My prediction is that TC loses to PNG and BH. I think Crosby exposed TC's defense and PNG and Bh have enough talent to take lessons from the Crosby TC game and execute. I predict TC falling to 4th. 1. Crosby 8-0 2. PNG 6-2 3. BH 6-2 4. TC 5-3 5. Nederland 5-3 The big problem for Nederland is they have to play Crosby still. After last years game and all the rah rah on twitter I'm pretty sure Crosby is going to be up for that one this year. Even if it likely won't matter for the DC.

in hindsight, yes. It’s crazy how that works. If we knew exactly what was going to happen before it happened, the world would be a lot better place and some people could make millions of dollars in sports betting. Maybe this, maybe that… but you can bet out of hundreds or thousands of movies and many thousands of action sequences, the actors are not checking to see if the firearms/stunt expert accidentally put a live round in it. When Brandon Lee was killed, there were no charges filed. That does not mean they won’t be in this case because it is a different set of circumstances and a different set of state laws. But in that case Lee was killed with an actual bullet. Would an actor have known to look down the barrel to make sure the gun was clear when he saw an actual blank put into it? Under the United States Supreme Court phrase of “objective reasonableness”, they said that the police must be judged in the use of force or deadly force by what a reasonable police officer would do, not a civilian or someone judging it later knowing additional facts. It is not intentionally the same however it is the same concept. In Graham v. Connor where the police kind of kicking the crap out of an innocent man, The Supreme Court ruled unanimously that the use of force was justified even though the man had done nothing wrong and the officers made a mistake. That is because when judging at officer’s actions, even when injuring an innocent person, it must be viewed through the eyes of a reasonable officer having to make their decisions with a facts known to them at that moment. In other words, what does a person with his training and in that same situation, usually do? It doesn’t matter using 20/20 hindsight and looking back on it with additional information. So, what do actors usually do? That is significant because using Texas law as an example. It is a crime to point a firearm at a person even if you believe the gun is unloaded and if there was no threat. Simply pointing a gun at someone is a crime, even if you were joking among friends (no matter how stupid). That means that you could probably go back and arrest every actor that has ever appointed a gun on a movie set. Under the law and under the rules taught of firearm safety, you could almost never make a movie with any kind of action sequence using firearms unless they were toys. Maybe it will change in the future. Maybe it needs to be or have better safety protocols put in place. It is against the law however (actually in the United States Constitution) to hold people responsible for something that was not a crime when it happened but was later made a law. It would be like a police officer writing you a speeding ticket for going 70 miles an hour in a 70 mile an hour zone but the speed limit was charged to 55 miles an hour six months later. I think people are wanting to hold Alec Baldwin responsible for what many popular actors have done but because his name is Alec Baldwin.

  18. Those were the projections. The actual 5A-D1 ceiling is 2,211 and the floor is 1,920 with Houston Waltrip being the largest D2 school at 1,919. Taking into consideration the new schools and the natural growth in the metro areas I think the 5A-D2 cutoff will be somewhere around 1,980 before potential opt-ups which may move the number another 20-25 kids and be right around your 2,003 number.

…. and you are assuming that anti-gun Hollywood actors have a clue about gun safety? That is why they hire supposedly experts. Apparently in this case one of the experts screwed up big-time or maybe as has been rumored, they hired someone who claimed to be an expert that was not. In any case, high-speed chases, explosions, shoot outs, fight scenes, etc., depend on those experts. I doubt that John Wayne knows much about high explosives, putting out oil well fires, TNT, nitroglycerin or anything of that nature but I sure saw him do a lot of it in Hellfighters….. or maybe it was just the experts

Yes, I am sure they can make a gun that will not fire standard bullets. Because of this case I looked it up and they use a real gun because of the weight, nothing appears more real than a real gun and the way the actor holds it, the recoil, etc. While you can get an airsoft gun that appears to be real, the quarter pound plastic gun in no way will be carried or recoil like a 2 pound handgun. Even then in close-up, they are obviously not real. I have bought some Hollywood stunt ammunition for a shotgun to use in police training and in 21 gun salutes and they fit in regular shotguns just like any other round. Nothing looks more real and is carried and functions more real than the real thing. As dangerous as it seems talking about it, there have probably been tens of thousands of sequences filmed with no serious injuries. Heck, there might have been safety protocols in place that would have prevented this incident but maybe those protocols were not followed. We could make all the laws and rules in the world but if somebody doesn’t follow those rules and laws, bad things happen. While Baldwin might not be criminally charged in this case, and there is still that possibility, he was the producer and in ultimate control of everything. In this movie he was not ”just an actor”. He better hope that he has good insurance.

  26. It is neither mind-boggling nor ridiculous. For one, monoclonal antibodies have been around for almost 50 years. Second, look at the people who are taking it. They are we in the group of people who have a fairly high mortality rate from Covid. People love to point out that Covid has maybe a 1% mortality however if you look at the people over 65 who are overweight and maybe even other comorbidities, the fatality rate is a lot higher. How many times have cancer patients been told, your life expectancy is 4 to 8 weeks but we have an experimental treatment that may or may not work. Do you want to try it? The treatment may not work and the treatment may even be fatal but regardless, in the next two months the price of that gonna be here anyway. What is the loss for trying that experimental treatment? For many people, monoclonal Infusion is in that arena. The first three or four days I had Covid I felt like I had a mild case of the flu. Then it turned worse and my blood oxygen for about 4 days stayed around 82-84%.. At one point when I stood up and got dizzy I laid down and took my oxygen and it was in the upper 70s. I probably should’ve been in the hospital however I got the monoclonal Infusion in Beaumont and within about 36 hours everything turned around dramatically. I am 65, about 40 pounds overweight and how high blood pressure. Considering my condition when I got the treatment, I think there is a very good chance I would’ve been in the hospital in serious or critical condition or not being here typing this right now. I don’t see how it is mind-boggling to not trust a new vaccine which has some severe reported side effects but then faced with a possible critical condition or death And opt for a treatment it might save your life. I know that by point I took the treatment, it was not because I was worried about the flu like symptoms. I still do not want the vaccine but I have high hopes for the Novavax that is hopefully coming out soon.

I don’t think point differential counts against teams that aren’t tied? If TC beat both PNG and BH they would have three district losses. If Crosby beats Ned they’ll also have three district losses. Only the BH, Ned and PNG point differentials against each other would count. If 21 points is the cap then Ned would be -11, BH would be +7 and PNG would be +4. Crosby would finish 1st, TC 2nd, BH would finish 3rd and PNG 4th.

  29. Easy come, easy go. What we have built has been "Near the top" for 40 years. Carthage is now a beast that hasn't been seen here in texas, ever. But like I say, soon this to shall pass. I just dont see your coach staying for another 20 years and retiring as the undisputed GOAT in TX HS FB history. I can only hope that the tradition he is making will stand the test of time. The same can be said of our program as well. Makes me wonder how long it would take for the next highest win % team to over take us. Worst case scenario if we were to become the next La Marque. I need to do some arithmetic to figure than one out. To be continued...
