Going into the Christmas break at 13-5 overall. District begins Jan. 7th with a game at Hudson. Still trying to get everyone back and healthy. We have played a couple games with only 5 varsity players but different kids keep stepping up. Seems we learn something every game and improve something every week. Going to Hallsville to face 4 very tough opponents next week. We will play Mt Pleasant, Pleasant Grove, Tyler Legacy, and Crandall. JaKayla Brown -is averaging 21 points and 7.4 rebounds a game.2 points -

I think Silsbee is the better team. Washington has the best player. He will get his but so will Silsbee’s studs. I would favor Silsbee.2 points

Agree with all of this. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Vidor makes the playoffs. I think they are right there with all the non-Silsbee teams. Yes. BC had a lot of solid seniors last year and won their first playoff game since my father-in-law was a senior (and he will be 80 next year). Only one returner I believe (their QB in football).1 point -

The coach the Mustangs had last year is an assistant at Hardin-Jefferson now. It appears the new coach this year is having some buy-in issues with some of the players.1 point -

Didn't they have a full team of Seniors last season, I'm sure this year will be a BIG step backwards for the birds. I gotta make it to some of those Vidor games this year, they have a couple of talented players. But as always, depth and consistency will be a problem for the Pirates. I don't think they will be a pushover in this district, playoffs not likely though.1 point -

most businesses and ISDs have a "Guest" wifi available that is usually not as restrictive. They usually just require someone to sign up and get a temporary password that is good for a few hours to a couple of days depending on what they want. There also ways to setup a separate virtual LAN for certain users.1 point -

I heard from someone who has a son on the team that the kids think the assistant coaches do better than the head coach. At first I thought these kids just don't want to be coached hard, but then I remembered we've heard this story out of Lumberton before. Same parent told me that the head coach has a bunch of user names on some message board and posts about himself. I said no way on that one!1 point -

Great win by Silsbee, hard fought win yesterday and then having to go to center and playing a pretty athletic group. Good win right there1 point -
I know this man... But I was just making a point. We didn't have are point guard the second game and they had their whole team. You don't haft tell me about BU there is only one team in front of them.1 point

Yes I know he has, I just don't get why people think football divisions are all that important. I mean we have a winning tradition in 4A Division 2. Players are players, coaches should be able to win no matter the division. After all we have played upper 5A teams and did well against them.1 point

Really strange. Especially with all these virtual meetings (zoom) and online learning. I know they have firewalls on my place to keep the kids and teachers off of social media, but the Department’s IT guy can definitely enable a breach for the online streaming.1 point -

The problem with this story as with almost all of them, it came from the news media. It more than likely came from a press release by the police who released practically nothing any more. Why was the father not armed? The truth is, he might have been. Maybe the father showed up with a handgun but the guy turned and charged the juvenile and the father couldn’t shoot the suspect in the back, fearing hitting his son. That is one of just many “what ifs” but we have no clue what happened. When we say something like, well if I had been there….. In fact what you thought you would do may have been exactly what the father did. The media does not investigate anything, they don’t ask pertinent questions and even though a story might be several paragraphs long, it’s basically just a synopsis. When I was on patrol 25 years ago, if I showed up at a major crime scene there might be literally five reporters in my face asking me detailed questions about what happened. Sometimes I would release information and sometimes not but they were there digging. Now a patrol officer can be on the job for five years and show up at a major crime scene and never see a reporter. In fact most have never even spoken with one or had a question asked, even if the officer was not going to answer. The truth is there is almost no more news reporting. Most new stories are done strictly from police news releases, of which I have written many. I have seen several news stories in print and television media where the report was just copied and pasted from my news release. This is kind of an odd story and it would really be interesting to know what really happened, but we will probably never find out.1 point
