  1. @Cardinal 1 Hopefully HF can get it together. I have noticed the few times I've seen them the chemistry is not always there for some reason or another. A ton of talent on the court, I hope for their sake they can't get it together if they want to make a run. At the beginning of the season people said HF and State in the same sentence. At that time I thought No Way but with the few games I've seen I think they do have the pieces to play with anyone any given night. However, their consistency has to get better, when you guys are good your good, but when your bad you guys are bad. Make not mistake I root for all SE Tex teams but don't see you guys turning the corner until you guys put WE before ME.

  2. It’s like you got WOS blinders on…all the way from Silsbee lol.Really though Hick has the support and everyone loves him but he’s not ready to take over WOS,Toby won’t miss a beat and that’s the difference imo!

  3. I agreed with you, WOSdrummer99. It is big difference. Assistant principal will not have time to spend on the field since will have big responsibilities at school with kids while real one such as Toby will more focus on athletes kids. Bond will be factor as well. Therefore, Toby would be best choice. Record mean nothing because he know WOS program.

  4. One was busy winning championships in track. And getting kids to Texas, Oklahoma, TT, A&M, and probably more that I'm forgetting. What does Hickman do when not on the field... assistant principal?

  5. No matter how you spin it coaching will always be about helping young people. Help develop them as people not just athletes. I know what Tobe did at WOS under Hooks/CT . I also know what Hickman did under CT, THERE is a BIG difference between the two

  7. New guy will need to have the stones to kick off kids with discipline issues regardless of their talent.. just like it’s always been. if not, lcm will benefit tremendously

  8. I typed something similar last night but never posted it. YEAR: 2075, the children who were in 1st grade at WOS in 2022 are now grandparents and… WOSHS is looking for a new head football coach. There is concern in the community however because Dan Hooks scheme might change if an “outsider” is brought in. But…. wasn’t Hooks an outsider?

  9. I'm hearing that there is only 2 candidates but the Sup only has one which is Hickman. Sad that we didn't even advertise on the major coaching bords but just on our school website. The Sup is from Dallas and acts like Jerry Jones, he is only going to pick someone he can control. Coach T did what he wanted this next guy will do what the Sup wants.

Gonna be interesting to see what a new coach brings to PNG…. Solid group of kids coming back… Cunningham was a good one, next qb won’t like have his athleticism….

Or Newton. This district is a lot more competitive than I think some may have thought going into the season.

If any QB candidate steps up, is as athletic & plays as well as R. Cunningham did his senior year moving from WR to QB then Nederland will be pushing PNG's 17 returners for the district title.

  16. HF can play around if they want but they don’t want to see Silsbee in the 1st game of playoffs again. So y’all better get it together parents, Coaches, and kids.. just my observation because there seams to be some disfunction in HF..

Don't be a homer. Lumberton hasn't handled a press all year and now they get Silsbee who will be looking to avenge the fluke from last year.

  23. I believe the panel will make a good choice giving all of the candidates a fair shake. On a possible positive note one of the cerebral wonders who didn't like the "Chain Gang" has reportedly moved on and is now the Executive Administrator of the Navigational Orbiter Mechanics Calculations unit at NASA. Aloha.

  32. I feel the BU team came out here and played well. They were short handed to start with out the leader of the group T-Arce.. They played this team tight until they found some matchups that they liked. Looks as if Soph Payia got hurt during the game. He might have been the best rebounder during the tourney for BU but he had to play big because of T’s absence. I think Dotson and Yates played well but they just needed one more kid to have a good game and they could have pulled it off. Porchia looked to be hurt also after that foul. Because until then BU was getting after they a””. Now fully loaded BU wins by 8-10pts.. Also think this tourney help a lot of kids gets some minutes and exposure. BU is in a better situation going forward depth wise

  33. Your stereotypying is making you look even more stupid than I thought possible. Who would I rather vote for: A New York former Democrat turned partial Conservative or a Southeast Texas blowhard who is not very bright but insists to the world he is intellectually superior? In this case, I would vote for the New Yorker in a heartbeat over the Southeast Texan. You try to rail against this board because we didn't vote for a stereotype. And you, you...you stereotype so much that you fell in love with a geriatric imbecile because you fell for all of the negative and false stereotypes thrown at Trump. And you try to say "we" got fooled. Seriously, how are you not embarrassed with yourself? I almost feel sorry for you.

You have people in solitary confinement a waiting trial that have been there almost a year an did not even enter the Capitol building! Where is Ray Epps? That ought to piss every American off except maybe InJussieWeTrust. The real insurrection was 3 November 2020.

  37. KOGT has been the only pipeline of local news with weekly visits with the judge, LIT Orange, county and city meeting minutes, police reports, local business promotions, charitable events, etc. Dang, as I’m listing them its becoming more evident that Orange County will hurt without KOGT. Furthermore, KOGT promoted many school events other than football. They broadcast, baseball, basketball, softball as well. These are programs that attract less attendance but still attracted a radio audience. It won’t take long after their closing to realize the true impact.

  39. 10 hours and 3 pages later, I'm late to the show. First and foremost, on behalf of Mustang fans everywhere. I'd like to thank Coach Thompson for everything he has done for our school and students throughout his career. He's one of a kind, a classic that cant be duplicated. Even drives the same old blue truck. Which reminds me of the first time I met him. After the 86 championship game, there was a crowd of people waiting for the team to arrive behind the school. He was the first one off the bus, but only to tell people to get out the back of old blue. I've been biting my tongue after hearing this for the past 3 seasons. His son has been telling people not to keep their kids at WOS cuz T wouldn't be there much longer. He missed the 1st game against Nederland, and we all know how that turned out. The petition, started by my classmate, who by the way had no bad words about Hooks or T while he was playing. Then the whole Zig ordeal. Oh and did anyone mention, no more Chain Gang. That's like telling PNG no more Indians. Or like telling some of these other schools, "I need more cowbell". Most of us saw what was coming from a mile away. I've been hoping for the best. But when Gales went down, so did alot of hopes and dreams. Now as for the next coach. There should be applicants from all over the state and possibly the nation. Peevey saw what was coming and went north just in time to take advantage of the upcoming power vacuum. I even think BC sought out a championship caliber coach hoping to catch some future fallout. But if there is already someone currently on staff picked as a replacement. I can only think of one or two that would be deemed acceptable in this new state of our program. And no, neither of them are coordinators. My preference is to continue the traditions set by almost 40 years of dominance. This would mean having a coach familiar with the community and the system. Making Toby the obvious choice. That is if he even wants the job and has the qualifications (masters degree for AD.) Dont forget all the alumni that could come with Toby. Names like Locks and Gans. Maybe even an Anderson, Thomas, or Bevil. He could put together a dream team style coaching staff. But as some have said here before, they feel its time for black coach. Race, religion, or sexual orientation should in no way have any bearing on the upcoming hiring process. Best candidate for the position period!!! Now for the community. And by saying that, I mean those of us that still live in the district, pay taxes, and actually get out and vote. Let us not bow to the opinions of those who have left our area. We voted for a bond to build new schools some years ago, and upgraded sports facilities more recently. All of which bear the names of WOS coaching legends. Breedlove field @ Hooks stadium, with Thompson's name on the indoor training facility. We are the Mustangs. Always have been and always will be. The day I wear green and gold on friday is the day I delete my account and ride off into the sunset. "Mustang Nation" is everywhere. From Orange to Ohio, from Cove to Cowboy Church. And all parts in between. I've been 1000 miles from home and ran into people from Texas that never heard of Orange, but knew about WOS Football. I've also been at Chilis watching the Seahawks and told some hurricane chasers about Earl Thomas as a RB. No matter how we want the program to move forward, it will. It's not a decision that will be made by social media analysts such as myself. It will be made by those voted into power, the school board. Not a decision that can be easily made. And if it doesn't work out, there may be more names on the ballot next year.
