Sinema Goes to Floor For Filibuster Support
5GallonBucket and one other reacted to tvc184 for a topic
It is not that the other side “would” have done the same. The other side “did” do the same. The Republicans did nothing until the Democrats removed the filibuster to get federal judges approved. They were warned by McConnell, if they change the rules, it would come back to haunt them. The Democrats changed the rules but later did not like the result. They assumed that Hillary would win and then it would be no problem.2 points -

I said with my 1st post on this topic, page 3, I think. That this should be the premiere job opening in the state this off season. But from the list of known candidates, it appears to be an inside job. And out of those 2, one has never been in the position before. To answer you're question... No, and I doubt he would even be interested if this wasn't his Alma mater. Why aren't more winning coaches from across the state being considered? The other 2 I heard about were combined 23-47 record.2 points -

A lot is always said about kids getting second chances, usually from a team that got beat. Sports is all about life lessons and sometimes the best life lesson is showing a kid you love them and that they are valued. Until you’ve walked in their shoes and the coaches, I always find it’s best not to speculate or judge (as with almost everything in life). But I can’t begin to articulate or explain it like the GOAT so I will leave this right here.2 points -

Well, it's a good thing the Republicans did! The present Attorney General is who was turned down. This guy is a fruit cake! Trump's pick is s constitutionalist, Garland is not! Think about Yobama's other picks and think about how better off we are without this clown on the Supreme Court!1 point

You literally just said Nothing. Smh Misinformation is not the same as disinformation, which is deliberate & designed to deceive - like telling the nation for three years there’s evidence of Russia-collusion when you know there is none. Or accusing your opponent of doing what you admitted doing on-camera in Ukraine. Lets not forget 6th January narrative falling apart from all the lies and deception. YOU GOT NOTHING BUT TDS! Not sure I’m understanding all the talk about Tobys overall HC record. Let’s not forget he took over a horrible 0-10 Shoemaker team, so a good number of those losses was getting that program going in a different direction. I don’t think anywhere he’s been has the same consistent talent that comes through WOS. Also Some coaches just fit in better in some areas than others. Happens at all levels1 point

To maybe explain it further; states do not enforce federal law, the federal government does. That is why you have federal special agents such as FBI, DEA, ATFetc., and the United States Attorney offices. The federals prosecute what they want under their law and the state prosecutes what it wants under state law. One does not generally cross into the other. If Colorado does not want to prosecute people under Colorado state law for possession of marijuana, great. The federal government still retains the right under their law to prosecute. In most cases, as a state police officer I cannot enforce federal laws and federal agents cannot enforce state laws. An FBI agent has no authority in Texas to pull you over for speeding yet I can pull you over for a license plate light out at night and put you in jail and tow your car. It is not because a state police officer has more authority than a federal agent but he simply enforcing the laws of his state whereas the federal agent is enforcing the laws of the United States. That is the dual sovereignty. So….. The federal law says that we have an income tax and you will pay it. The state police do not enforce that as it is not a state law. The federal government has the authority to enforce that laws. The state of Texas has no authority to tell its citizens, don’t pay attention to federal law. Clear as mud?1 point

I would actually venture to guess that the majority of democratic voters are what we would call moderate or not extreme left. The problem is that they are so eaten up with party affiliation, just like pulling for your favorite football team, but they are blinded to what is happening. There was a time going back to the Great Depression that the Democrats claimed to be the party of the “working man”. They were for unionization and the Republicans were for a big business and not having forced unions. My best friend growing up and his family were absolutely Democrats and I heard his father say how could a working man ever vote for a Republican. I think that much of that thought continues through this day even with evidence to the contrary. I think the problem is not what the average working democrat believes but what he is told is the truth. Like in the Wizard of Oz, ignore the man behind the curtain….1 point

This is absurd. Both parties are worthlessly partisan to the point that neither will work with the other to pass necessary legislation. this should've been a slam dunk for both sides to work together, and the left refused to do it. there's no way that 50 democratic senators believe that prisoners should be getting government handouts, they simply voted against the republicans. Of course, all that having been said, if the democrats had come up with the idea some republicans would vote against it as well.1 point

Funny how I’ll be sitting here with the TV on and sometimes an old story pops. This was back in the late 70’s. My wife was fixing supper but needed a couple of things from the store. We lived close to Woods Supermarket in Vidor so my daughter & I drove down there. As we were going down one aisle, there was another father/daughter close to us. Based on their conversation, mother was absent (sick? Trip?). The daughter appeared to be about 13 or 14, and father was about 6’6” and 280 pounds. She said, “Here’s cereal Dad, I could make you cereal for breakfast”. His first response was a deep, slow laugh, and he said in a deep slow voice, “Honey, I couldn’t make it out to the truck in the morning on a bowl of cereal”. We held our laughter until we got over an aisle, but I felt I’d just witnessed a priceless memory for them.1 point
