  1. The problem most Mustangs have is the way the hiring process went. Everyone knew Hickman was the predetermined choice and that nobody else had a chance. Including the other coaches on staff that have been there for longer. The experience factor may not be too much for Hickman to overcome. He has been here for 6 years and likely learned more under CT than he did as Silsbee DC. 112% committed to whoever the new coach is. Nothing is set in stone. But the agenda for Monday's board meeting will make it official. There's a chance for citizens to speak, and I believe some will have much to say on this issue. Another thought... with all the racism claims being made recently. Perhaps CT said, "here you go, I'm out, have fun". The only thing against that is the man has so much pride in what he and others have built here. I can't see him handing over the keys to the bus knowing it's heading for a collision.

  4. Silsbee’s biggest problem in the past has been defense. And WOS hired their former DC. Idk

  9. Kind of makes you think of Dan Hooks who had never been a head coach in the mid 70’s. He was the DC at WOS til his head coach decided to leave and propped him up for the head job… Nuff said.

  10. Harris finished the night with 27 points. Had 23 in the first half. Could have done a lot more damage than that if it was necessary and he played more.

  11. you are very much assuming wrong. i am a WOS fan in football because they consistently represent the area. in other sports i don’t cheer for a single team, honestly could care less results. i want good game, injury free, safe, and FAIR game - nothing more nothing less

  14. Someone just north of wos must ve seen the future with his remarkable timing of taking a new job (going 4 rounds deep)then neighboring school HC retires. Pure genius.

  15. PN-G just played 3 rounds. They don’t have the most talent, and never have. PN-G has always played above their talent level and beat teams they have no business beating. Faircloth got the most out of his kids and teams, IMO. While he was there, PN-G had a prolific offense, something there weren’t accustomed to on a yearly basis, and that was all due to Faircloth. He had a great offensive mine. His team’s weakness was always defense. He could never find someone to lead a decent defense and I assume that’s people ā€œgripeā€ about him. Good luck finding someone to put up the points he put up year after year, and then getting them to play defense like a WO-S or Carthage, with the talent level they have. Sometimes you don’t know how well you had it, until you lose it.

  20. I believe PNG has a couple of names in mind already. As I have said before, if you don’t know the whole story then you don’t need to be making comments on who should be blamed. When or if the truth comes out those who did may be eating crow. If those in the know want you to know then they will tell you.

  22. Well said. I do not have anything against Coach Hickman, heck I do not even know the man. I can truthfully say the comments I’ve heard from people and the ones I’ve read have all been positive about him so there’s that, also I worked with a guy that lives in Silsbee and had kids involved in HS athletics there back when he Hickman was there and I remember back when WOS hired him he said we were getting a good guy so there’s that also. It’s just the way this superintendent went about this whole process. He had the guy he wanted come h*ll or high water. No matter who applied.

  25. I looked at this whole game. Looks like about 95% of all PA shots were either throw up shot (shots they prayed go in) or good shots that were just blocked by BU. Horrible shot selection. Don’t looks like there’s any good guards as the back court turnovers was a problem all night. Tons of one on one ball that most of the time ended in a turnover. And when was the last time that I’ve seen a PA team with ZERO 3 point shooters? This was not good at all and I’m not saying it because of how they looked vs #1 5a BU, but goodness gracious. PA basketball is in a bad place and I’m starting to question where the blame should be placed…

  26. Makes sense. BF was the person Riordan called to ask about the Crosby job when he was coming from Sulphur Springs. I’m sure Riordan was the first person BF called and probably got recommended by Riordan seeing as how that job would’ve been his for the taking.

  29. Bill had been on vacation. He came back last night & verbally b-slapped several Dems & Sotomayor. Referring to Sotomayor’s totally off-base accusation of children & Covid, Maher said, ā€œI mean that’s really ignorant for a Supreme Court Justiceā€. [Hidden Content]

  36. I don’t believe the players care about Coach Hickman getting the HC position since they already know him. What I’m really surprised at is how WOS fans are not backing our new coach. SMH.

  37. This is a very realistic possibility that people don't want to acknowledge. Biden's presidency has gone so poorly that all the right needs to do is put out a capable candidate and they should have an easy victory in the next election. The only way that doesn't happen is exactly how you spell it out... people still vote against trump, or just pick the new dem nominee and hope he/she's better than biden. There's also the possibility that trump says or does something that reignites the hatred for him before the election. He really can't help himself. Crapping on other republicans who might challenge him in the primaries isn't going to do him any favors, either.

  38. If he loses more than 2 regular season games, it will only be a 1-2 year thing. Lord have mercy, I hope this wasn't his motivation. WOS will now begin to fade back into a typical local program, and not a state power. The door is open for someone else to grab the mantle and run for SETX.

  39. Im with u on that!! I think they can win district.but playoffs are a whole lot different.and it brings me back to the Nederland game this yr.they were all confused.in the playoffs u have to adjust and be playing ur best ball.i think hick is a great guy. But,bringing this team to the next level I really don't know.he has never been a head coach or been put in tough coaching situations.and with the supe on his side lol, reminds me of my Dallas cowboys.

  40. Personally, I am happy for H. He is deserving. I just hope he is given a fair shake on proving himself and this not be a 1-2 year thing. Got to have more time than that. I also think the district could not have done wrong by hiring Toby. It would have been a good hire as well.

  41. I am going out on a limb and say it's the OC Daniel Ragsdale. Seems that the hew requirement is that the job only has to be posted in a public place. It was posted on the Job Board at the Administration Building on I-10. So in the words of a decommitted superstar- "No interviews".

  42. I don't know why you say that. You really think I just made that up? A fairytell? Seriously? No one is pointing at your grandparents. What I am doing is contrasting the privileged poor of today that gang bangs and commits the vast majority of crimes then uses "poverty" as an excuse, to the preceding generations that were FAR poorer than the poor of today, but were solid, law abiding citizens. The world has changed. Fathers are mostly absent and the welfare generation is running wild. Over the past year many cities have became war zones. Its not mostly isolated to Chicago, NY, and LA anymore. Sad days for whats left of America.

  45. Both sets of my grandparents came from Louisiana to Beaumont a century ago. My Dads dad was gassed by the Germans in WWI. He barely survived, but his lungs were severely burnt up, and could not do much more that get out of a chair to walk across the room. He had 8 kids and never worked again. Moms dad suffered from heart failure and repetitive hernias. He tried to run a filling station, but never made much money at all. Mom was one of 5 kids. Both my parents were "depression era" kids, and survived by planting gardens, making their own cloths, and eschewing real medical care. The babies were born at home, not in hospitals. I grew up in a tiny home without air conditioning. Dad worked hard, but it took time to build things up because him and Mom had to start from literally nothing. My grandparents were beyond poor. They nearly starved during the depression. However, they, and my parents, were devout Christians who never, ever even thought about using poverty as an excuse for committing killings, drug abuse and other crimes like the "poor" do today. I fully reject "poverty" as an excuse for crime. The breakdown of the nuclear family and the associated immorality lifestyles are to blame.
