I definitely disagree with that. Personal preference but quality of living is much higher in Aledo. Not being in a big city with a bunch of different high schools, rangers ball park, cowboys stadium, 6 flags, waterpark, ect and all that traffic. Plus you have a much better chance of team success at Aledo than Martin regarding football. Parents want there kids in a great academic school and a sports program that is going to make a deep playoff run. Aledo doesnt need to recruit. Our situation is attractive for people considering moving to the Fort Worth area.

That is just simply not true. I had dozens of classmates in the accounting program land really good jobs all across the state after graduation, and I know companies from all across the world come to Lamar to recruit students in the engineering program.

Just an outsider asking a question, Is the administration not capable of making a decision on their own? AFAIK, no one else in Texas hires outside help for $20K just to help them think and decide. I still believe this is $20K the PNG powers spent just to deflect and insulate themselves from responsibility incase a new coach does not pan out as expected. "Hey don't blame us, we just did what TD told us!"

I'm in favor of a shot clock for 4A and above. It's not that expensive and it adds a dimension to the game that the kids and the parents and the fans would enjoy. It could be very forgiving, 40 seconds. A quarter is 480 seconds long. That's 12 possessions per period and that's slow enough. Plus it would give officials who aren't physically able to run the court for some reason the opportunity to participate and make a little extra money. The districts can afford it. Basketball is a small fraction of the expense of football. I think it's a win all around. Though I'm not going to condemn what Mitchell did, I hope this episode becomes ammunition for the proponents of a shot clock for Texas.

I’d also add that Aledo very likely has a cheaper cost of living, even accounting for the much higher median income level.

Ditto, this was truly shocking to see on video. I totally understand playing stall-ball using 4-corners or another similar type of offense, but this is straight up cowardly. Lumberton's coach probably isn't embarrassed using these tactics based on what I've read about him on here, but he definitely should be.

They where more worried about getting 100 put on them and looking bad than losing and looking bad.

I believe the key is for Silsbee to get a lead early. Once that happens, WOS will self implode. #15 will start to act out and walk back on defense. Silsbee just can't let them hang around.

Silsbee beat a young Kountze team Saturday not sure what final score was but a lot to a little .. Silsbee defense looked good on balls that were put in play. Showed some pop in the line up which will be needed .. and pitching looked strong

Matchups and a hated rivalry can be a weird thing. Would like to see the Tigers pull away in this one though. Only team that can sorta match Silsbee in athletes besides WOS is LCM and thats mainly just two kids. Wouldn't be surprised if their main player doesn't get a few offers to play somewhere.

Two kids 6-6 or 6-7 would qualify as quite unusually tall, especially at the 4A level. And I would wager WOS is upper echelon athletically, again at the 4A level. In fact, this is as close as Silsbee will get to simulating the Booker T length (which judging from the first matchup against the Stangs is a little concerning). Only imagine if the 6-7 and 6-8 kids are as at LEAST as skilled as Silsbee’s best two players. Hopefully depth will be key.

It is impossible to win in places like Tarkington unless you bring in a coach that is willing to stay for the long term. Theses places are not plug an play situations. A coach needs to be given time to establish a program, with expectations and trust, and develop his players his way.

One silver lining with COVID is it has exposed the worthlessness of government and the majority of our leaders.

I've been in & around Houston for 66 years. I went to Lamar Fleming middle school one year. I heard too many horror stories about EO Smith. I would of stay at the old Silsbee Jr High than go to EO Smith. I don't know much about the new charter schools although I was a big fan of US Rep Mickey Leland; cried like a baby when he died. I don't need no play of movie by a CME pastor to tell me the educated have been leaving places like 5th ward. I lived it.

8-5A-D1 1. Crosby - Crosby played 31 of a possible 32 games last realignment. Austin Westlake was the only 5A/6A school to play all ‘em all. The move up in class will be a challenge but Crosby is 13-1 the last two years in district play, at this point y’all just need to beat us. 2. BH/PAM - BH has a lot of very good individual skill players returning. You see how far FB Marshall’s great skill players got against BH’s trench play though. BH lost some good trench guys and the best backfield they’ve had in 15 years. We’ll see how they restock. 3. PAM/BH - PAM is the plant workers version of Humble when they were in 5A. Regional final talent with district runner-up coaching. How do you replace Sanders this year when you never showed an ability to develop a second act last year? 4. Baytown Lee - Probably has the best coach nobody in the coverage area talks about because of where he is. I think the kids from back there off the state streets still get in the dance. 5. Kingwood Park - I really don’t know why I think KP will be better than they end up every year? 6. Porter - I think you’re getting into some bad teams here and Porter is just the best of the bunch. 7. GCM - Looks good getting off the bus and if the new coach is any good they should be able to beat Sterling. 8. Baytown Sterling - Somebody has to be second to last in a nine team district. 9. La Porte - Hate is didn’t work out for Coach Tarr but the fishing at Sylvan Beach was probably going to be better than your football team and you ain’t catching **** out there. They should be in the running with Sterling and GCM for the “everybody gets to play game”.

In the years being discussed, were Buna's most talented years since Coach Whitmire has been at Buna. They had alot more talent than "an O-Lineman" and a Connel kid. Kreston Richardson went on to play at UT-Tyler? Or something of that sort. Edwards was a very talented basketball player, along with Connell and Richardson and some good role players. Did Kountze have the better athletes, absolutely. But Buna was far from lacking in talent. I won't comment on who is the better Coach of the two. Back to the standings, Kountze should have at least a share of the lead as of tonight. This district is so tough and each game can swing the standings. I love it! Keep rolling Lions!!

Wishing the best for Hickman. But play calling and adjustment will have to be made inorder to compete with the likes of carthage.hoping for the best. And I'm so glad we can finally move on.
