  1. You are so delusional and unrealistic, it’s damn near impossible to have a conversation with you. Only 1 team in a division wins it every year. At the start of the year, each division has around 5-8 teams that have a realistic chance. Sometimes making the 3rd round, or state quarterfinals with the talent you are coaching is in itself a great feat. if you think any coach is gonna go to PNG, and beat the current talent Crosby has had, or a program like Aledo, you don’t know the game of football. Dodge didn’t win state at Marble Falls, or Cameron Yoe. Didn’t even get close. Why is that? Surratt isn’t going to Hamshire-Fannett and going to win state, why is that? When I go to watch a high school football game, I usually try to stand along a fence by the track to avoid ppl like you in the stands. Don’t have a clue, but boy, you have all the answers from row 32, seat C.

  2. and had one of his players not step out of bounds, get fouled, get a 5 second call and tied up during the 3-4 times they tried this stunt, it would have certainly lasted more than 3 minutes. Game was 5-2 Silsbee at that point but those turnovers resulted in a 12-2 Silsbee lead. Kind of hard to try and do it again trailing by 10. One would really look silly. Kinda like you, keyboard warrior.

  3. I am still against having a shot clock but this is not basketball in any way shape or form. I get stalling and spreading the floor to get defenses to come out and guard or protect a lead but this is not that. Just trying to keep the game close and not lose by 30. My name is Mike Sanchez. I'll state this opinion to any coach. I already have.

  4. It was a good game. Both teams went at each other. The difference in the end was free throws as is the culprit in most close games. Huffman hit theirs in the closing minute we didn't. They had a chance under the basket to win it and did. Their big man gave HF fits all game, he played a great game. Nice footwork and a soft touch. Was a good game for any basketball fan

  9. There's no place like HOME. Shewolves gets a share of the District Title. United (10-2) Crosby (10-2) Barbers Hill (10-2)

  10. Simple fix, crowd them until he gets pushed out of bounds or if someone can reach in get their hands on the ball, that way if one of our players swats the Tiger players hands then he'll be called for a foul. At any rate, as a life long Raiders fan, THIS IS BS!

  11. How do you win a game down by 10 and holding the ball in that manner?
    2 points
  12. Other teams in this district have attempted to play and been competitive for a small period of time. Either way, they have all gotten beat handily. I would take more pride in getting beat while playing ball than doing something like this, but that is just me.

  13. Disagree about the district.... Huffman is 20-5 with 2 losses to HJ and one to Kingwood Park. They have really been playing well. Have a really good chance to end up in the Regional tournament as the 2 seed out of our district I agree about the schedule, but the Lady Hawks practice against some of the best every day at practice.... The preseason was put together to take the district into account... The #1 Team from Colorado, The #8 team from Georgia, Atascocita, Summer Creek, Duncanville, Austin, Wagner, Clemens, Memorial, Plano, Red Oak, Cedar Hill, St. Agnes, The 4a teams on the schedule are all either winning their districts or 2nd and were all 50+ games.... To be 27-4 with that schedule is a testament to the work the girls are putting in!

Have seen this the last few years from Ned side. BC head coach always been solid coach & keeps his team in games from start to finish.

When you have a Stone and a Green I agree! But Nederland was out coached all day long yesterday. BC small balled Nederland to embarrassment. The coach for BC didn’t allow his kids to be complacent. He coached the entire game and they were all on the same page. Didn’t here a peep from Nederlands side and as the game went on it got sloppier and sloppier.

Coaches vary well and we’re ready to play ball! Played a lot of small ball, pitched well, and made routine plays in the field. Collectively looked like a solid little team.

Nederland @ Jasper “Jasper/Huntsville” last Saturday was a good day of baseball and Nederland played well when the dudes were on the field. Nederland @ BC yesterday was cold and sloppy. Nederland looked lethargic and were out coached. Nederland @ HJ this sat. Hopefully the dogs show up with a game plan and some energy.

  21. @dj we just need a coach to stay longer than 1 or 2 years. We been good at football because we get to run the same stuff year in year out. Basketball our boys have continued to learn system after system. Coach Cas will be great for the program as long as he stay

  25. Everything seems to go through # 23 for West Orange. He struggles they struggle. He's a senior so they better figure something out for next year. The Mustangs are actually pretty small outside of 2 or 3 kids. Didn't help their other big never seemed to be in the game really. You saw why Silsbee can be dangerous tonight. Sure you can play us hard for a quarter ot two. Have one bad quarter and you might be down by 30 in a few minutes.

  28. Used to run that play in Little Dribblers all the time when my oldest was a little kid. It works like a charm against 7 year olds. And apparently sometimes on the high school level too.

  29. Meh, more a case of horrible defense. That play is as old as Methuselah. I do enjoy seeing how happy some on here get when HF takes a loss. Pretty humorous how times have changed. When my boys played, if mediocre teams didn’t 30 piece the Longhorns everyone was disappointed.

  30. Has BU lost at home this year or even last year? Little home cooking is an understatement lol so coin flip or play a tournament to break the tie

  31. That was terrible. Sorry. Not basketball in any sense of the word. And I agree with AAW re shot clocks in HS basketball. I am a huge fan of the shot clock in high level basketball. But we never get Milan, IN (team Hoosiers was based upon) if they had a shot clock. For a multitude of reasons, it’s a bad idea for high schools with the exception of the Grind Session and other national leagues.

  36. Jeff Joseph is the Joseph they're talking about. Son of Katy's Gary Joseph. He's currently at Southlake Carroll. Former Austin Westlake Defensive Coordinator. Left there to become a graduate assistant at Texas A&M before becoming the defensive coordinator at Magnolia West. Left coaching and was the VP of Big Kat Waste Solutions. It's his first year at SLC I believe.

    Hagar’s Ramblings

He was the technical consultant for "Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind". Only thing wrong about the movie was it happened at Area 51. And nobody was chosen to leave with them. I wonder how many white coats made brown stains that night.

  38. i’m parent of #10 i don’t like Lumberton stalling but they not only ones i hated it when LCM stalked against Lumberton with both tv news teams there looking for game of the week and they stalling play rock/paper/sissors and i really hated it when i was OF player and we did it entire game BUT there is no rule saying you can’t stall - and that is a coaching choice so i guess until rule change we will continue to not like it but accept it as a coaching strategy

  39. The National Federation of State High School Associations at its April meeting approved a 35-second shot clock for use beginning in the 2022-23 season. California, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, and Washington already have it. It's time for Texas to begin a pilot program and then proceed with a phased implementation. Start with 40 seconds, which is an eternity really. The cost would be less than $10,000 per gym for very nice systems. Cooperative packages could reduce that cost significantly. If a vendor knows he's got 8 or 15 or 20 gyms to do one after the other, one vehicle operating from a single hotel for several weeks, he's going to give a good price. You need a trained official to run the clock, but he doesn't have to have the skill set of the guys on the court. So you're looking at $75 a game, 15 games max, that's less than $1200 per season for a given school. All the college and arena venues where playoffs and tournaments are held already have the equipment. Being a Tigers fan it's kind of a moot point. They could live with a 10 second shot clock. But I think almost all the kids would love it. It would add a little extra drama to each possession. It's second nature at the college level. The only problem is that it's about to take off nationally and supply chain could become a thing!

  40. If PNG was going to hire somebody from Katy ISD it should be Paetow's coach BJ Gotte. I think he's going to have a similar run to Brad Butler's at Shadow Creek before Katy ISD breaks up the school to support the growth in the area and Paetow regresses. Might have some Ricky Tullos on him after that.

  41. I'm in favor of a shot clock for 4A and above. It's not that expensive and it adds a dimension to the game that the kids and the parents and the fans would enjoy. It could be very forgiving, 40 seconds. A quarter is 480 seconds long. That's 12 possessions per period and that's slow enough. Plus it would give officials who aren't physically able to run the court for some reason the opportunity to participate and make a little extra money. The districts can afford it. Basketball is a small fraction of the expense of football. I think it's a win all around. Though I'm not going to condemn what Mitchell did, I hope this episode becomes ammunition for the proponents of a shot clock for Texas.

  43. Ditto, this was truly shocking to see on video. I totally understand playing stall-ball using 4-corners or another similar type of offense, but this is straight up cowardly. Lumberton's coach probably isn't embarrassed using these tactics based on what I've read about him on here, but he definitely should be.

  44. If PNG goes out & gets an out-of-area coach with experience in a winning program that wants to develop PNG to keep a winning tradition, I agree, 4th place. If however, a local yokel is hired, that may have friends in high places in the district, & believes that only repeatedly making the playoffs has been the coaches fault, they know "exactly what PNG has been doing wrong & only I can fix it." then 5th or 6th in district would not surprise me. A completely new program, under a completely new coach can go either way. It will be much better if a coach with absolutely no knowledge of PNG, other than they have a winning tradition, like the school that the applying coach has been working, & allow that coach to come in with a clear perspective & develop the program. We'll see!

  45. Jasper hasn't beat Silsbee in so long they clam a game that didn't even get to half time for a win. Y'all aint won sh#?!!!! Both coaches declared that game canceled and no winner. But, the planets have aligned, the overlords have brought Jasper back south. The teams that make it to the playoffs will be battled tested and ready. Get ready for some great games and great district races. Get your popcorn ready!!! TigerNation!!!

  47. What other Top 5 team in 4A has a tough District schedule in January? HJ is doing what they are suppose to do to lesser opponents. They don’t play down to their opponents is the main thing.

  48. Stephenville wins that game with Smitty/Reagan coaching against Burnett. They were clearly the better team, and that was for all intents and purposes a home game for PNG (shoutout to Indian Nation who is second to none - well maybe second to 20th century MOJO). As I recall, Stephenville won by double digits, even after fumbling not once, but twice on the Indian 1 yard line. Just wasn’t that close. To be fair, that was one fine Yellowjacket team.
