    Tarkington Open

Please send me the quote where anyone from or around the situation that said that Tarkington had the talent to win the state title in football? Won't be able to because nobody did. Just looking for a good man that can come in, get the kids excited about playing ALL sports because every ounce of talent is needed in all of them to be competitive. Then maybe that person can motivate them to use their spare time in the summer and such to put in the extra work. Try to grow some focus on preparing the younger kids for high school ball and for the ones that are already there, put in a system that gives them the best chance of winning some games. They have some athletic kids, just need to be pushed and taught the right way to go about their business. Nobody here is looking for state titles, we aren't mistaken, this isn't Argyle. We want to give our kids the ability to pursue sports in whatever capacity they want to, achieve as much as possible and then go out into the real world and be good people. You should maybe spend a little less time polishing your youth football trophy and a little more effort into learning how to have a real conversation.

I am proud of both of my young men that I raised here in Tarkington. The one that stayed in the program learned plenty from good coaches, including x's and o's. Go find another school to bash for a while and give it a rest.

    BC Card Baseball

Hands down OF is the deepest and best team in the district regardless of the standings. BC is probably 3rd overall but they will make it interesting with how they handle their staff for the rest of district play. If BC has any luck on their side and some of the other very good teams like Silsbee and OF either beat up on one another or have an off night BC may sneak up and surprise some folks. For the time being OF can be happy they more than likely don't see BC's #1 arm during district because that has the potential to be a coin flip if that happens. Even if OF see's BC's #1 they still have the edge because offensively they are just better. BC would certainly have a "puncher's chance" because good pitching has that effect. BC has been down the last couple of years, especially offensively, so they are relying heavily on good pitching performances, scratching out a few hits, and solid defense until they can get some help from the younger classes coming up in the next couple of years. Until that time they will be vulnerable but certainly not out of the running. This district is always so much fun to watch and will continue to be for quite some time. Great programs from top to bottom, period. Rake1

I understand emotionally polarizing. People hate it when you stick your finger in their face and say “I am better”. It doesn’t matter the argument. People hate being told they are wrong. But let’s step back and look at reality and history. Do conservatives think about pushing a more aggressive guns rights (actually just upholding the 2A) than in the 1970s? 80s? 90s? 2000s? No, it has pretty much been the same all along. How about cutting taxes? Is that a radical agenda? Has it changed? Securing our border? New and radical? In fact that is supposed to be such a priority under the Constitution that the right against unreasonable search and seizure under the 4A, doesn’t exist at the border. It is so important that under the Constitution, you have no privacy rights at the border. Again, is that a new and radical agenda? Is that pushing the hard right? Now that look at the Democrat side of open borders. How about Senator Obama saying that border security was important? President Clinton? They publicly stated that securi the border was a vital issue. How about President Obama saying the same and urging Congress to add more money to strengthen the border. [Hidden Content] But let’s compare that to now. Do the Democrats think more about securing the border down as they did when President Obama and President Clinton were in office? Obviously they want the borders wide open now, regardless of what it will cost the US taxpayers, regardless of what it will cost people looking for jobs that are American citizens, etc. The Constitution gives an absolute right to secure the border yet The Democratic now are bent on opening the floodgates. Has that been their position all along in the last 50 years or is this in the last couple of years because Trump wanted to build a wall? Who has become radical? How about men competing as woman from the Democrat perspective in 19070? 80? 90? 2010? Have conservative agendas made a radical shift? Have the Democrats? I hate to say liberal because I’m not even sure the current Democrats (leadership, necessarily voters) are anything approaching liberal. I think it is pure socialism if sometimes outright insanity. It seems like one side has gone off the deep end in utter stupidity it is not from the conservative side. Right now in Florida there is the bill that is making Democrats nationally go out of their minds. That is until they reach the fourth grade, you can’t discuss changing their sex from males or female on any of those types of conversations. The national Democrats are putting this up as a proof that the country is going down the wrong road because the Republicans want to keep sex change conversations out of the classroom until the children are about 10 years old. Horrible right wing agenda? How many of you remember as a first or second grader having a teacher discuss changing your sex? Is that a radical idea from conservatives to keep that out of the classroom until until…. Fourth grade? Horrible!!! Radical!!! Or perhaps the Democrats have really gone off the deep end of the pool? No, It is not some new radical kind of conservatism as opposed to agendas from the Democrats. It should be very clear to anyone that gets away from emotional issue of my team against your team, there’s something strange is going on with the national Democratic Party. If a Republican says yes, they will automatically say no, no matter the topic. I even think that behind closed doors or in the privacy of their homes or at least in their thoughts, some of the Democratic legislators are cringing but are not allowed publicly to be in opposition of Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and others who ARE radical. Look what happened when Senator Mancin came out publicly recently and opposed to changing over a hundreds of years rules in the Senate about the filibuster. They would have forced him out of the party but it would have given the Republicans a majority in the Senate. Does anyone really think that 100% of the national Democratic legislators, and in particular the women, think it is good to have men competing as women in women’s sports, in beauty pageants, etc.? I think that even possibly a majority are totally against that. So how come they don’t join the Republicans in a bipartisan bill to ban this insanity? It is simple, they can’t. Like all of the insanity currently happening, they can’t be seen as agreeing with the “other team”. There is radical and dividing politics going on right now and it’s not coming from the conservative side. For those that believe otherwise, let’s say that the Republicans take over Congress and the next election in 7 months (which is entirely possible). Please list the radical agendas that will come from the new conservative and Republican Congress.

The left is to blame for the center moving way to the left. the right just want to move it back to where it used to be…..which will look like extreme(for the left)givin how far it’s moved but it’s not extreme at all. and I highly doubt we ever get back to true conservative values as a whole….history has proven people are undisciplined and mentally weak. now saying that I get your point….but I don’t see that happening. As far as majority of each party which side has came up with the most ludicrous legislation? look at how many names you named on the left and you could add a lot more to that list.

There is no "similarly polarizing legislation". The hard left wants to open the borders and go soft on crime among a million other ludicrous policies, the hard right wants to lower taxes, lessen government and save the unborn. No comparison and no need to worry.

Yeah but that came from a person who couldn't be further from Tarkington. Your post reads as if the community or other posters on here from the area think that. Which is the source of your constant thoughtless bashing of the kids. I will repeat, NOBODY from the area made this claim. I can guarantee you that most of the kids that are currently enrolled in Tarkington don't have parents that went there. So rationale should tell you that people have come and gone. Why haven't more "athletic" kids moved in is the question then, right? Well, we can all agree that the high school sports teams aren't bringing them in. So the people that are moving in to the area are coming in for a number of reasons, my guess is led by the fact they want their kids to have a yard or maybe a few acres to go outside, breathe fresh air and maybe raise a farm animal or two. So like I said previously, very few people here are looking for a football dynasty. They just want to see their kids become respectable adults and maybe a couple wins from whatever sports team their kid is on. That's just the mentality of the majority and even for me who is a sports fanatic and been here most of my life, it drives me crazy that we aren't more competitive or that kids aren't willing to put extra time in to improve their chances of getting better on Friday night. But for the most part that frustration goes away on Saturday morning when I go to the store and see kids hold open the door for adults and say yes sir and no sir to me when I ask them questions. By no means am I saying those things can't go hand in hand but that's the trade off that most people here are willing to make.

The old sailor had been thinking for a long time about getting the surgery. He had shore leave so he had a few brews to build up his courage. When he finally had enough alcohol to get the nerve, he went and saw the doctor and asked to be castrated. The doctor asked if he was sure that is what he wanted and the sailor said,”YES!! I have thought it over for a long time and that’s what I want!” So off to surgery he went. A couple of hours later he woke up in the recovery room and saw another sailor in the bed next to him. The old sailor asked the other, “What are you in here for?”. The second sailor said that he had just gotten a circumcision. The old sailor replied, “Yeah……. that’s what I wanted “.

I have lived in Tarkington quite a while. My kids played ball here. There is talent, but it isn't an every year talent like when I in high school at Jasper. The talent is spread out with a few in each class, and once every 5 or 6 years there is a group of solid players that do pretty good. For many years Tarkington was at the bottom of the classification and being outgunned and outmanned was not a good combination. I expected them to fair better in 3A than they have for sure. Never have understood what inspires people to put down another community on a message board. Just not in my character. Regardless, I hope Tarkington finds a good man who will teach our kids what it means to be a man, and will teach them to give everything they have while on the field with class. Success breeds excitement and success. It also brings players to the field who just play this sport or that sport. In a town like Tarkington it has to be all hands on deck to be competitive. We have been that before and I believe we can be again. Go Horns.

A quote by Thomas Sowell, a black American economist, historian and social theorist. Ours may become the first civilization destroyed, not by the powers of our enemies, but by the ignorance of our teachers and the dangerous nonsense they are teaching our children. In an age of artificial intelligence, they are creating artificial stupidity.

  20. Here is one of the most stupid rationales about gun laws and in particular gun free zones to stop mass shootings. I have brought this up in various forums several times and maybe this one. If a person is about to kill multiple people, he is facing: 1. Death during the incident by suicide or the police. 2. if he survives: a. Life in prison. b. Death Penalty. There are no other outcomes. I guess there’s a possibility of escape but that is about 99.999% unlikely. If a person is facing certain death or life in prison, what penalty can you threaten him with? “Let’s see, I am mad at the I’m going to indiscriminately kill as many people as I can, hopefully dozens at least!! Then I will kill myself but wait… this is a gun free zone. Oh well maybe I’ll just go get me a Dr Pepper milk shake at Whataburger.” All that gun free zones do is keep people from defending themselves.

He wasn't out of football. Just wasn't a head coach. He was at Bellville for the 5 years as the assistant HC before he took the Tarkington job. But that tells you that it isn't all coaching. 90% of high school football coaches can/will tell you this saying, "Jimmie's and Joe's not X's and O's".

  30. They aren’t successful because the Subpar AD keeps hiring his Subpar buddies who shouldn’t be head coaches as BU’s head coach. He does this because they don’t want a new proven head coach to come in and clean house and bring in a new coaching staff. Because the existing coaches all have ties to him or administration some how. Beaumont needs to clean house upstairs and bring in new administration and get the academics up to par first then forget the buddy buddy crap and bring in a proven coach that knows how to discipline and turn programs like this around. Bring back the desire in these kids to want to play football and enjoy playing football. Make them want to be as dominating as their basketball team. They have the talent there. They just need the right people to get it out of them.

  31. I would agree with who the new coach will probably be.... As for as how it got to that point was a discussion of where the basketball program is at was made before this coach was even hired BUT again if you aren't going to pay the money that was asked before this hire was made you find yourself where you are at now. It is very unfortunate this coach ended like this, but it was brought up during the hiring time last year. Not defending either one, just simply saying the ones that lose because of these type situations are the seniors that worked to get to their senior year. Unfortunately, you either have the money to get a good coach or you don't.

A Fireman was working on the engine outside the station, when he noticed a little girl nearby in a little red wagon with little ladders hung off the sides and a garden hose tightly coiled in the middle. The girl was wearing a fireman's helmet. The wagon was being pulled by her dog and her cat. The fireman walked over to take a closer look and said, That sure is a nice fire engine. The little girl girl replied, Thanks. The fireman looked a little closer. The girl had tied the wagon to her dog’s collar and to the cat’s testicles. The fireman said, Little partner, I don’t want to tell you how to run your rig, but if you tie that rope around the cats collar, I think you could go faster. The little girl paused for a moment then replied, You’re probably right but then I wouldn’t have a siren.
