    2022 team previews?

Possibly true, I can’t confirm until enrollment is finalized in August. I do not think the OLineman was a starter last year. But if so I am sure those players are thinking they are doing what is best for them. Nothing wrong with that. Might be best for Nederland Program also, if you don’t have all players 100% committed to your philosophy & believing in your program you won’t be very successful

  6. Studies have shown that abstinence is 100% effective in preventing pregnancies. I just keep thinking about those poor liberal men who can't have abortions now - and that makes me sad.

  7. You said for an unwanted child. So these women are going to take care of an unwanted child for 18 years, for which they could be criminally prosecuted if they do not, instead of using a few cents for birth control and they can probably get free or donated anyway? I doubt it.

I’m guessing that’s why it’s called preseason rankings. I’m guessing they base it on what you have coming back, positions you have coming back, what you did last year, and so on. I’ve never put to much stock in a number in front of our name in preseason. Like cardinalbacker says where’s the proof you belong there, but then again if there’s nothing to argue about then some people will dry up and blow away. It’s nice to know Silsbee lives rent free in cardinalbackers head.

Yes. Their ideology was similar to what the Republican party ideologies are now.

  12. Feel free to chime in with how much more you expect to pay in taxes as a result of this ruling. You know, expanded welfare payments, housing for criminals, healthcare for indigents, even the expansion of state schools... you know, the places where they used to keep the genetical anomalies that required full time care... people don't talk about it, but a lot of those pregnancies were ended in the last 50 years... we're signing up for a lifetime of care for those individuals. So... a thousand dollars per year per family? Maybe just $500. Who knows... but all of you cheering are actually applauding an explosion of spending that will undoubtedly be used to support these unwanted kids until they're old enough to vote Democrat. But I guess that makes you the winner.

Jasper has outstanding talent in the pipeline. Cant wait to see what happens with the Freshman DE that played 1B on the JV baseball team. He is among the most impressive looking kids I have ever seen. Had a couple of similar in 8th Grade as well.

  17. I want to say like 30 something states won't allow it and the others will regulate it... a few will Probably still alow it Don't hold me on those numbers, that's what I heard this morning on the radio and could be wrong I think D's will be right back in the race over this ruling, it wasn't looking good b4 this and now they have this going for them

  18. Well you know this did not make abortions illegal right? The states can make that decision. Just like weed is illegal except where it is not. If I wanted to smoke weed legally, there are states that allow it

  19. I didn't say that, lol. I felt kinda the same way when we were ranked fairly high at the start of the 2017 season... it was based on our 2016 record and a bunch those kids were gone. It felt like our ranking was too high, but it was understandable because it was at least based on a record. Silsbee's 2022 ranking is just puzzling. I mean, imagine if for some unknown reason Texas Tech was ranked in the NCAA top ten this preseason. Huh? Based on what? A good receiver prospect?

    2022 team previews?

Like I said it’s all rumors until school starts in August. No school wants to take the chance with transfers before UIL approves & all paper work is triple checked that it meets UIL standards. That means don’t let a new secretary handle it😎

  25. How is he the right choice if he can't even get elected? I think what you meant to say is that he would have made a better president. If we all know that people "don't vote based on results, it's whether they like someone," then why would he go so out of the way to be so unlikable, but argue then he (and his fans) argue "it doesn't matter if he's likable... it's his record that matters?" You already knew the rules of the game but you played it your own way and then can't seem to grasp the fact that you lost... To sit back after that loss and yell "but the rules are stupid" doesn't change the fact that you lost by ignoring the rules. "y'all are a bunch of idiots for voting based on personal preference!" No, it's like if you're in school and there's this one really smart kid who wants to be the class president, and he'd probably make a pretty good class president... except he goes out of his way to irritate, aggravate, and otherwise infuriate all of his classmates. As expected, he loses badly because nobody likes him, but he's still arguing that he would have made a better class president and anybody who couldn't see that must be stupid. Except he went out of his way to make people NOT vote for him.

  39. Supreme Court rulings generally start with a syllabus which gives a relatively brief description of the decision. The syllabus might be 1 to 3 pages. Then it goes on into as many as 15 pages describing how they came to the official conclusion. In addition to the official ruling, some justices may issue a concurring opinion meaning that they agree with a ruling but for different reasons. Then the justices on the losing side may issue a dissent describing why they disagree. The syllabus in this case concludes with this paragraph: The constitutional right to bear arms in public for self-defense is not “a second-class right, subject to an entirely different body of rules than the other Bill of Rights guarantees.” McDonald, 561 U. S., at 780 (plurality opinion). The exercise of other constitutional rights does not require individuals to demonstrate to government officers some special need. The Second Amendment right to carry arms in public for self- defense is no different. New York’s proper-cause requirement violates the Fourteenth Amendment by preventing law-abiding citizens with ordinary self-defense needs from exercising their right to keep and bear arms in public. It clearly says that other constitutional rights do not require you to justify why you need them. Why should the second amendment?

  40. As Matthew328 stated, we were extremely young going into that first game against Ryan. Our entire secondary was sophomores, our starting running back was a sophomore. We had a junior QB that made mistake after mistake, that eventually led to him losing the starting position after the worst loss under our current head coach (McKinney North) where he had 5 turnovers. Our offensive line was extremely young as well, so things just..the last two years have been tough for sure. The talent we had in 2017-2019 has not been there the last 2 seasons (minus Jalen Hale), and facing Highland Park/Denton Ryan 5 times in that time span definitely was humbling after having won 28 of 29 games in 2018/2019. The group we have coming up is one we've been talking about ever since Haynes King stepped on the field for his senior season. You could tell they were going to be special even with as young as they were then. Our entire offensive line returns, Tatum Taylor is back at running back as a junior, our secondary is the best secondary I have ever seen a Longview group have, and almost all of them are just juniors. Jalen Hale starts his 4th season as a Lobo on the varsity squad, the first freshmen to play on a Lobo varsity team in over 30 years and he's showed why with the amount of D1 offers he has. The receivers around him are extremely talented on top of it. Our defensive front should be out of this world. QB remains a question mark. Allen comes in as a 3 year starter now (battled back and worth in 2020 before winning it, battling it back and forth in 2021 before losing it). We will go as far as he takes us, no doubt. He is by far our weakest position, but when you have as much talent around you as he does this year, we're hoping it'll mask some things. No doubt Denton Ryan is going to be impressive again. I'm more than happy we won't have to see them until Week 15 if we do have to face them. 3 losses in a row to a single team does not happen to Longview often. It's the first time in program history that we've ever lost to a team 3 times in just 13 games. But we would be more than battled test if we were to get to the Semis. Like I said earlier, we're 18-7 in the last 2 seasons which is just not Longview standards...but also 5 of the 7 losses have come to #1 Denton Ryan, or #2/#3 Highland Park so it is masked a bit considering 3 of those 5 losses were decided by one score. But we have not been elite by any stretch and I think a lot of us feel the group that is coming up (and the group behind them for that matter) is at that elite level. No doubt a Crosby match up is looming in November. It's going to end up being one of those match ups we will have talked about all season long I feel. Looking forward to it potentially happening. And looking forward to keeping up with a new group of schools. I know we almost faced BH back in the late 2000s. I can imagine their fans don't want to make the travel to Longview this season (or next for that matter). Getting that home field in round 1 is going to be extremely important with the travel. Hopefully the district is a little more competition (district 8 that is) than I'm expecting it to be. Looks like a Crosby/PA Memorial run away, with BH in 3rd and the rest...well the rest being as bad as they are. But we'll see what happens.

  41. I was at the first Longview-Ryan game and a young Longview team got some hard lessons in Week 1...the second meeting was much more competitive obviously as a young Longview squad improved a ton during the year... Going into 2021; Ryan lost a lot (44 seniors) and their junior and sophomore classes are pretty average so a team that already lacked depth is really going to be pushed this year.... Longview is the exact opposite, the senior class that just graduated is pretty average for their standards & they are replacing those guys with a junior class thats loaded...its a group that we've been hearing about in these parts for a couple of years...add that group to a mix that already returned 14 starters and 40 lettermen and there you have it...

  45. Was brought back here by a like on one of my post, and re-read yours. You mentioned the blank checks, which reminded me of another deal in the mid-50’s. We lived about a mile from one of two grocery stores. My Mom was a housewife, who never drove (never had a DL). We only had one car (1949 Plymouth) which Dad drove to work at the Bethlehem Ship yard. If we needed groceries during the week in the summertime, my Mom, Sister & I would walk that mile. Pick up what we had to have (that we could carry, lol) and the owner had an old receipt book. He’d write down the total we owed. On Friday evening, which was Dad’s payday, we’d all drive over and Dad paid the owner what we owed for the week. So yes, there was trust back then. You’ll play hades getting Walmart or Market Basket to let you do that today. Sounds like a corny line from a movie, but in those days, a handshake was a binding gesture.
