DCTF 6A Pre-season Top 10
Mr. Buddy Garrity and one other reacted to Matthew328 for a topic
Yes the computers like Carroll over DV and I dont see why honestly....Duncanville has physically whipped Carroll in 3 of the 4 meetings the past four years with the margin being 44, 14 and 26...pretty dominant if you ask me.....I'm just not super high on Katy going into 2022 at the moment but I think we'll know pretty soon about Katy because KISD overall is stronger than its been in a long time and with Westlake likely going D1 I think Katy could easily play for a title this year, which I think is more an indictment on D2 in Reg 3 and Reg 4 right now in 6A2 points -

I dont think I've ever stated who matches up with who etc....I think in some years Katy matches up with anyone obviously (2015)....but I dont think it can be ignored that the vast majority of Katy's success comes when they are D2 either....its all factual context to paint the picture...I think its pretty clear the past few years where the power in 6A has been and Katy has probably been on the fringe of that power nexus Now I personally believe Duncanville has been better than Katy in 2018, 2019 and 2021....2020 I think you could make a good case for Katy, especially late in the year when they were peaking......but every year is its own story and what happened in 2015 or 1998 or 2010 doesnt mean anything going into this year2 points -

[Hidden Content] smh...I sure miss Trump, energy independence and America first sure tops this crap. From the article: As President Joe Biden travels to Saudi Arabia this week to ask for increased energy production from the Middle Eastern nation, American energy industry representatives say Biden should be looking stateside instead. We think Texas is a lot closer than Saudi Arabia,' American Exploration and Production Council CEO Anne Bradbury told Fox News Digital. "And President Biden does not need to be traveling halfway around the world searching for solutions to this energy crisis when the solution is right here at home," "If the administration is serious about increasing supply, they should be meeting with producers here at home instead of looking to governments overseas," added American Petroleum Institute spokeswoman Christina Noel.1 point

You're the only one who thinks that Graham Cracker is a racial slur on here. I personally came up with the guys nickname as an inside joke, that's the name me and many other BU fans started calling him. Btw: he's black. Also it's the nickname I'll continue to call him if he crumbles like a Graham Cracker here at Memorial. Maybe you're having a bad day and needed some reason to pop off, I would suggest you calm down, drink some water and relax.1 point -

Just for the record the vast majority of Katy's titles and appearances have come in Division II, not Division I which is where Duncanville and North Shore always live. Only in 1994 when they lost to Plano 28-7 and in 1997 when they beat Longview 24-3 was Katy in Division I. The next twelve title game appearances (and seven titles) have all come in D21 point -

Starbucks Closing 16 Stores
LumRaiderFan reacted to bullets13 for a topic
From the article: “We think it is not fair that we were not allowed to be a part of this decision about our working conditions, nor for Starbucks to claim they could not provide a safe experience for our workplace,” said Mari Cosgrove, an employee at one of the Seattle stores that is closing. Am I think only one on here who finds it hilarious that employees that essentially amount to burger flippers are crying that they don’t have a say in what the national chain they work for decides to do with its franchises?1 point -
Inflation is in effect a hidden tax. The money that people have saved is robbed of part of its purchasing power, which is quietly transferred to the government that issues new money. Thomas Sowell1 point

BlackShirts5 reacted to Cougar14.2 for a topic
You don't lose by 44 points in a semi-final game if you match up with your opponent. Katy lost to North Shore three years in a row in playoffs from '17-'19, the next year in '20 when they didn't have to face them they went to the title game and beat Cedar Hill by 37 points. Oh yeah, they also have more titles than SLC. Katy doesn't match up with NS physically which is why NS dwarfs them in the number of D1 recruits they produce. So yeah, with 9 state titles to their name it's safe to say Katy matches up with anybody in the state too. SLC doesn't match up with Duncanville physically either. Not only does Duncanville have about 2k more kids than SLC they also dwarf them in D1 prospects just like North Shore does Katy. It took the #1 prospect in the country for SLC to mitigate that advantage in '20. Recruiters don't even view the athletes at the schools in the same light. For instance, Owen Allen ran for 1,266 yards as a sophomore and 2,063 yards as a junior last year for SLC and only has two FBS offers which are both from academy schools. Caden Durham is a '24 running back at Duncanville. He's the same size as Allen, has played one year on varsity and only rushed for 649 yards yet he's already up to 9 FBS offers including 4 from P5 schools. You don't have to agree that SLC physically doesn't match up with Duncanville, the guys that makes $100's of k's on top tier staffs around the country do though.1 point -
Valid question. Here’s a scenario - you ask any Jr Hi kid in East Texas who can get pregnant and 99.99% will say women. In the link above, a Berkeley Law Professor claims men can. Point is, who’s the smarter of the two? We wonder why so many judges are making ridiculous decisions. If this woman is an example of folks teaching Law, it’s no wonder. Again, unbelievable.1 point

One player that's your favorite going into this upcoming season
LumRaiderFan reacted to SmashMouth for a topic
Yep. It definitely sucks. My son, Bo, who played in Lumberton, graduated and went to UMHB, (and subsequently got a DIII National Championship ring this year). But he’s officially retired from football now. Definitely makes you appreciate the years you have before it’s gone. I’ll be in the stands watching your Jaddon. He’s a great player.1 point -

Well, if I answer as my favorite player, it has to be my son, Jaddon Ward #20 RB for LR. 2 more years and I’m done and it sux. 2nd now is Silsbee’s Drelon Miller. Great athlete, great kid, and competitor. Prayers for a healthy season for all of our SETX athletes. Hook’em1 point -

Will be an interesting year. Crosby, PAM and BH should be a slug fest and Porter/LaPorte have potential. I feel this will be a tougher district overall than last year for BH and Crosby. Playoffs travel will be brutal though.1 point
