I guess I'm in the minority? I liked the uniqueness and colors of the old format. This feels very "big box" like our board has fallen in line with other around the state. I'm sure it's for the best though.

    STJFL

I’m glad I’m through with this stuff. When my son played there were three teams. They had a purple, a white, and a gray team. We had a draft and all the kids were available for a three teams to draft. If you had the crappie team then you just sucked at drafting. This 💩 of making an A and B team and splitting it where the good kids go to the A team and the others go to the B team is strictly for the Dads. I know they do it in school but that is different. The problem at the STJFL level is you are supposed to coach these kids and teach them what the game is about. These coaches now days are all about making themselves look good and don’t want to teach. This could come back and bite them in the arse. Through all my years I have seen kids that may not have been as good as the others but come high school some of them are beating the other “studs” in junior league out because those “studs” hit their peak already. These other kids are hitting their peak at the right time. I’ve seen it happen for years and when those “studs” aren’t playing in high school. Those are the parents that you hear all the bi___ing and moaning from.

  8. Update on HJ turf! Field House is almost complete. Track still in the works. Auditorium finishing up as well. Middle school has most of its steel up and 1/3 of the block up.

  9. I like it, school choice is good. Nothing wrong with parents & students getting to choose what schools give them the best opportunities for their futures over government or uil employees dictating it., imo. Kudos to Crosby Athletic & free agent dept. putting out the product people want to play for, job well done.

    Crosby Open?

I agree there too. I was more so talking about how the coach/administration felt about the issue. I think the PNG brass is happy they got a new coach of their choosing and even though he didn't want to leave I think BF is happy to done with the headache in Mid-County. That's what I meant by both parties coming out on the plus end.

    Hagar’s Ramblings

And wowsy! Anyone else wonder what they were logging into? This’ll take some getting use to, lol. Most of us rarely get to know famous people. I know a few infamous ones like @TxHoops, lol. About the only famous person I knew was Johnny Preston (Courville) who sang the 1959 #1 hit for 3 weeks, Running Bear. It was written by the Big Bopper who was from Beaumont. Johnny was from Pt. Arthur. I was working at a local Plant & we had Union construction workers, and at the time (labout 1970) Johnny was with Pipefitters local 195. He was a great guy and had a beautiful voice. While performing at a local club he sang RB & dedicated it to my wife. We had a great time. He passed away in 2011 of heart failure. When folks talk of PA, invariably Janice Joplin, who, in my humble opinion, had no singing ability whatsoever, comes up. Me, I’d rather think of Johnny. RIP old buddy.

    LCM Turf

Yes I believe they are. When WO-S installed turf, they started in March and still barely have it completed by the first game. LC-M didn’t start until school was out for whatever reason. If we get a wet rainy week it will slow them down even further.

  21. I have no doubt that intense work wasn’t put in. That’s true with every professional athlete. There are tons of huge guys that didn’t make it because of that very fact. Not hate whatsoever. You also can’t deny that had he been 6’1 with that same work ethic, Ozen doesn’t win it that year. Don’t misconstrue my point.. the player (including his size) that he turned into was an integral part.
