  1. We're actually working on our collective as we speak. So far we've secured the grass farms and tire shops in town. We have a meeting with our local crawfish vendors next week which we're expecting to really be a game-changer.

    Turf vs Grass

I’ve played and watched quite a bit on both surfaces, and I prefer grass both as a player and spectator. I’m sure there are compelling arguments for both, just offering my opinion.

  3. So does Crosby have a better NIL package?

  5. I'll stand by abolished, the federal government has no business meddling in an "Independent" School District's business. As far as an efficient organization coming from the federal government, hasn't happened yet and I don't see that changing.

  6. No playing surface beats a well-maintained grass field. The issue is that not many high school fields in Texas are well maintained due to weather, frequent usage and budgets. In 2018 I believe Crosby was ranked #2 in the state when we went to go play in Vidor's parabolic mud pit. It was one of the best handful of teams I've ever seen at Crosby but we only had one serviceable QB in Jaiden Howard. At the end of the first quarter Howard jumped over a Vidor defender's head, landed on his feet but in the mud and tore his ACL. Crosby lost 4 of our last 5 games and missed the playoffs for the only time in the last 17 years. Vidor's grass field literally took out our starting QB and ruined our season that year. In 2015 I felt like Crosby had a state final caliber team. A big reason for that was because of our starting RB at the time which was Carlos Grace. Grace was instrumental the year before as a sophomore in our playoff run and was looking borderline unstoppable behind the o-line we had at the time. The second game of the season he had 5 carries for 99 yards in the first quarter against Angleton. On his first carry of the 2nd quarter his foot got stuck in the turf on a basic cut and he tore his ACL. Two different scenarios that ended up with the same result. I do feel like the new turf surfaces are the best for all parties involved though. It sucks to say but I think you go ahead and risk the injuries in hopes of having a more consistent playing surface throughout the year.

  7. I don't agree with "abolished," but burned to the ground and replaced with an efficient org that wasn't entirely focused on indoctrinating the youth with lib ideologies would be a good start. You know, and organization that was focused on making sure that the kids all learn to read, write, and perform basic math skills instead of teaching them that we're all inherently racist and gender is a societal construct.

    Turf vs Grass

I’d imagine the grass at those stadiums is maintained a lot better than high school stadiums to be fair

  9. Comparing natural turf to artificial turf is not an entirely fair comparison. A well-maintained natural turf field is usually preferred by those who have the money and manpower to maintain them. At the high school level, most fields must be multi-use facilities thus adding the demand of saving money over the long term. The old school Astroturf was brutal for causing many knee injuries because it had superior (dangerously) traction but with bad consequences. The newer artificial turf is much superior in it's playability and ability to mimic natural turf. Costs of artificial turf have dramatically been reduced compared to 10-20 years ago. More companies competing for the market helps as well. The most recent version of these artificial turf fields have the features of not holding/transferring heat by the use of different "pellets". I am very happy that many more schools are able to install a safer artificial turf so that many programs, (football, band, drill team, soccer, etc.) can train, practice, and play on safer field.

    STJFL

I’m glad I’m through with this stuff. When my son played there were three teams. They had a purple, a white, and a gray team. We had a draft and all the kids were available for a three teams to draft. If you had the crappie team then you just sucked at drafting. This 💩 of making an A and B team and splitting it where the good kids go to the A team and the others go to the B team is strictly for the Dads. I know they do it in school but that is different. The problem at the STJFL level is you are supposed to coach these kids and teach them what the game is about. These coaches now days are all about making themselves look good and don’t want to teach. This could come back and bite them in the arse. Through all my years I have seen kids that may not have been as good as the others but come high school some of them are beating the other “studs” in junior league out because those “studs” hit their peak already. These other kids are hitting their peak at the right time. I’ve seen it happen for years and when those “studs” aren’t playing in high school. Those are the parents that you hear all the bi___ing and moaning from.

  11. I like it, school choice is good. Nothing wrong with parents & students getting to choose what schools give them the best opportunities for their futures over government or uil employees dictating it., imo. Kudos to Crosby Athletic & free agent dept. putting out the product people want to play for, job well done.

  12. Looks like Crosby picked up another free agent last week. That makes it three that I know of this offseason. Running back from North Shore, receiver from GCM and now a DB from Spring. Think the DB from Spring could be a real contributor this year. If we could just get a 6'5" 275lb offensive tackle to sign with us we would be in great shape. The one we had last year will be playing on the defensive line next to our 6'3" 340lb nose tackle.

    STJFL

Well looks like no one followed up on this issue from STJFL and now I heard the 💩 has hit the fan. PNG apparently has an A and B team for their two senior teams and some parents weren’t very happy about that and who would be. It’s not like the B team would be playing other B teams. So why not split the teams equally. What coaches wants to do that and have the B team with all the better kids going to the other team. Heard coaches and board members are getting suspended. O and a PNG board member/coach got suspended for falsifying his USA football certification. Really Really you can’t take couple hours and complete the course. I’m so glad I’m done with little league sports. Parents are in it for themselves and not the kids. I’m pretty sure no kid has been recruited from youth sports and signed a deal the next season.

Still on schedule, tight as it may be. Almost over the hump where rain will not be a big factor.

I guess I'm in the minority? I liked the uniqueness and colors of the old format. This feels very "big box" like our board has fallen in line with other around the state. I'm sure it's for the best though.
